SUN OF A CHIC 2 PAIR BOX - items 1

When I first pulled these pairs out of the box my first thought was how “out there” they seemed! These are definitely bold styles…

SUN OF A CHIC 2 PAIR BOX - items 2

This is the back of the purple pair – I wanted to show it because the edges of the frames come towards your face a little in your peripheral. Even though they’re glittery plastic frames, they felt sturdy and higher quality than, like, a cheap set of frames from the store.

And here’s the back of the chromatic pair. They have tortoise-shell patterned ear covers.

How wacky! Like I said earlier, these are bold. Definitely not my style, haha.

This pair is a little more in my comfort zone, but I tend to prefer more neutral styles that I can pair with anything.

Verdict: I think this is the first time ever Sun of a Chic has sent me glasses I don’t care for! Even when I feel like some they’ve sent previously just aren’t my style (or think I can’t pull them off), I’ve often found that I really like them when I try them on. However these are just a little too bold for me. Which is fine, especially because the box isn’t expensive. I think the value is there for the sunglasses you get for $20. As far as quality goes, these don’t necessarily feel like sunglasses that will last you forever, but they’re still good. Besides, getting new pairs every month (with a pretty low price point) means they don’t have to.

My main thing that still irks me slightly about this subscription is that they still don’t send an “info sheet” listing what designer the glasses are inspired by. The glasses they send out are designer- and runway-inspired, but they don’t include details. They did once, a few months ago – I just wish they’d do that in every box. I’m not the type to keep up on things like this and be able to identify “oh, these are like the new Dior style” or something, but I would recognize the name and feel better knowing who I’m “wearing,” does that make sense?

  1. I had unsubbed over 6 weeks ago but still got charged for May. I even sent them the email cancellation confirmation they sent me early last month. Then I got a shipping notice, again after I confirmed a second time I had cancelled (and done so originally in time to avoid another month charge. The response? Your box already shipped, sorry. I’m more than a little irritated that I can’t seem to quit this sub. I’m starting to think it would be easier getting out of the mafia. So I blocked all future charges directly with my credit card. Ridiculous I had to go to those lengths but clearly they weren’t getting the message and I was going to continue being charged regardless. I did like the May box since I finally got different frame styles, compared to the last 3 which were basically dupes of the month prior and in one month 2 pairs of literally identical frames in the same delivery.

  2. The purple one are inspired by Miu Miu 10NS. Not sure about the others…

  3. I received a pair just like your purple pair but they were silver glitter. I think they are super fun. My daughter says I look crazy in them lol. I still wear them tho!

  4. OMG, the purple ones! I want them SO much!

I quit Sun of a Chic though, I have SO many sunglasses already and I am picky about the shape of mine (and since they tend to do designer knockoffs, like you said, Haley, they go for some that aren’t my bag).

I have the Chloe-inspired pair from November (LOVE), the funky black ones also from November, and then also the two pairs from October (don’t love any of those three). I guess I could put them on the swap board.

  5. I had this subscription till I found some of the sunglasses in the clearance section of Love Couture for like $6. Then I realized there were like 20 other pairs there I liked so much more for cheaper and are the exact same quality I am getting in Sun of a Chic.

Their instagram is awesome, but they could do a lot more with the actual subscription, like an info sheet.
