SS3A

Sew Sampler includes a block 'recipe' card for a quilt each month.  They put it this way:  "Each month you will also receive a Block Recipe to make a quilt block with three size options; 8”, 12” and 16”. Collect all twelve of the recipe cards plus a bonus card with instructions for putting them all together in an adorable quilt! We even have a special fat quarter bundle available for these blocks."

I went ahead and started my block this month, with some of the precut squares included.  I was able to get the four corners of the block completed, but I'm going to have to go get fabric to finish the rest.  You can tell I'm not worried about color yet - this is my first quilt and I'm just trying to get the mechanics down.  I don't expect it to be pretty yet!

SS3B

Grow! Charm Pack - Me and My Sister Designs for Moda Fabrics - $4.48

These are really fun patterns and colors.  There are 42 5-inch squares included, and they are 100% cotton.  I used a few of these for my first four quilt blocks that I shared above.  I think these would be fun for a myriad of small projects!

SS4

Screw B Do - Magnetic Screwdrivers - $14.95

These are really awesome.  They have a short stubby handle, and the screwdriver itself is magnetic - no more dropping screws and losing them!  The handle is also very cushy and gel-like, so it wouldn't be too uncomfortable to grip for a long time while fixing your machine!

Quilt Block of the Month - $4.00?

This is the block of the month I received this month.  You can find a few options for fabric here, if you're interested in making a pretty quilt right off the bat - for me - I'll stick with what I have around and then will make a pretty one when I have quilting down pat!

SS5

Cotton Candy Embroidery Scissors by Sew Mate - $7.98

These are awesome little scissors!  I have a set where you have to squeeze the sides together to get the scissors to work (I hope that makes sense), and these are so much better than that.  This is one of those items you never want to spend the money on (even though relatively inexpensive), but once you have it, you wonder why you didn't get it sooner!

Fat Quarter Shop 2 1/2" by 6 1/2" Ruler - $6.98

This little ruler would work perfectly for small quilts, which Fat Quarter Shop recommends it for.  It has very small increments, so you can measure quite accurately!  For a larger quilt, I think this would only be good while working on small blocks.

SS6

Strawberry Picking Pattern by It's Sew Emma - $8.99

This quilt pattern looks super cute, but WAY out of my league for now.  As I mentioned before, I'm just getting in to quilting (I've sewn for a long time, but only clothes!), and this looks like a lot of steps!  I am going to keep this one to the side and hopefully will get good enough at this to make it!  This pattern has sizes for crib, twin, and lap.  How cute would a nursery be in this theme?!

SS7

Here's the ruler in use for my practice quilt block!

Verdict:  This Sew Sampler has a value of about $47.38, which is awesome for a smaller box that costs $29.99 (shipping included).  I think the variety included is also great - these are things that most quilters could use, but don't necessarily already have.  The block per month is also fun, because it gives you something to work toward each month!

Have you tried Sew Sampler yet?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

FYI the 10% coupon code applies only to the 0.99 cent registration and anything else you buy at the same time, but NOT to the subscription box itself.

Your blocks look GREAT! If you’ve been sewing clothes, you’ll pick up quilting in no time! I love the look of quilted items, but I’ve never carved out the time for it. Instead I crochet…perhaps I should pick it up again!

I’m glad the reviewer is getting into quilting, but I wish you had asked a quilter to review the box!

Your link & price for the charm pack is for the mini charms, which are 2.5″ squares. The box came with 5″ squares, which are $9.98/pack.

That explains it. I thought the price was too low for a Moda charm pack.
