OrangeGlad-May-2016-Quin

Quin Dreams Come Chew (10 pieces)- $5

I’ve received Quin Candy before in OrangeGlad boxes, and I’m a big fan. Dreams Come Chew candies are made in the following flavors: cherry, strawberry, tangerine, lemon, fruit punch, and pineapple & coconut. I enjoyed all of the flavors, but the pineapple & coconut was my favorite. It tasted just like a pina colada! My only complaint about this product is the the bag was too small!

OrangeGlad-May-2016-Rustic

Rustic Bakery Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookie (1.75 oz.)- $3.04

Rustic Bakery punches up the flavor of these shortbread cookies with the addition of espresso and chocolate chips. My husband ate them with an afternoon coffee and really enjoyed them.

OrangeGlad-May-2016-Popcorn

Annie B's Handmade Popcorn (2.5 oz.)- $2

Caramel popcorn is one of those treats that I never buy for myself, but when I receive it in a subscription box it always seems to disappear in record time! Annie B’s caramel popcorn was tasty (and generous with the caramel). Looking at the available flavors, I think I would have preferred the Sea Salt Caramel, though. The Original Flavor was pretty sweet, and I think it would have been better balanced with a little saltiness.

OrangeGlad-May-2016-Rose

Carolina Girl Cooks Rose Tea Cookies (3 cookies)- $2.67

If you’re thinking about subscribing to OrangeGlad, you should know that it’s rare to receive a box that doesn’t contain both shortbread and caramel of some description. (They both pop up in almost every box!) These shortbread cookies from Carolina Girl Cooks are flavored with dried rose petals and rosewater. I love floral flavors, and I found these to be delicious.

OrangeGlad-May-2016-Caramel

Annie B's Homemade Caramels (2 caramels)- $1

To finish off this month’s box, I received two caramels from Annie B’s. I’m not thrilled that the fifth item in this box is from the same company that made the caramel popcorn, but I thought the caramels were okay. (I’d prefer to sample treats from five different companies. Brand discovery is one of my favorite aspects of OrangeGlad!)

Verdict: I enjoyed this OrangeGlad Sweet Box. My favorite item is definitely the Quin candies, but I also enjoyed the rose tea cookies and the caramel popcorn. That said, I’m not thrilled that two of the items in this box are from the same company. (I like to see as much variety as possible in my OrangeGlad boxes!) The retail cost of the items in this box totals almost $14. That falls short of the $19 cost of the box, but it’s within the range I’ve come to expect from OrangeGlad. Given that the value of the items sent by OrangeGlad often falls short of the box cost, I have some concerns about the upcoming price increase. If the increase will be accompanied by larger and more diverse snacks, then I’m all for it. On the other hand, if the value doesn’t increase and the featured products stay the same, I’ll be very disappointed.

I think they are grandfathering current subscribers in at a slightly lower rate: $22 vs $25.

I’m also going to cancel, I’ve emailed them but I haven’t heard back yet. You can’t log into their website to cancel your account it says it will be back online on 5/24. I’m also disappointed with the constant repeat products (caramel, popcorn, shortbread, that one with the salt on top was terrible (and I love short bread), and hard citrus candies).

I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose a lot of people due to this price increase. They were already expensive as it is and I wasn’t impressed with the selection when I was subscribed.

I was considering this sub but with the price increase I’ll wait to see a few more reviews. It already seemed overpriced at the current rate.

The cost of this box is too high for single serve/sample sized items. It needs to include at least 1 or 2 full-sized goods.

I cancelled after this box. I was unimpressed by the quantity and lack of variety. That and the price for this box now offers a poor value. If there was an option to choose at least one treat into the monthly box, that might persuade me, but otherwise I’d rather visit my local bakery instead.

25 bucks now?? For some chews, 3 cookies, and a handful of popcorn??

$6 increase is insane for this price box- especially when they don’t meet the value of the box now. I am cancelling.

The value and the price is concerning. I hope they have a good plan.
