Love with Food is a monthly snack and food sampling subscription box. They send only natural and organic snacks and donate a meal to charity for each box sold. They offer a smaller “tasting” box with 8+ snacks per month, a “deluxe” box with 16-20 snacks per month, and a gluten free box with 10-15 gluten free snacks per month. This is a review of the deluxe box.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Each Love with Food box comes with a brochure listing all the products. I really like that they list all the ingredients here and indicate which are vegan, gluten free, etc.
Surf Sweets Jelly Beans (0.5 oz) – Value $0.71
These are a subscription box staple but I like them. They’re vegetarian and it’s nice to get a small amount so I can get a taste of sugar but not go overboard.
Miele Ripiena Honey Filled Hard Candies (3 candies) – Value $0.25 (?)
There are always a few small candies in a Love with Food Deluxe box. I couldn’t find these online anywhere so the value is a guess. (I think they are probably imported.)
Glee Gum Pop – Value $0.53
I haven’t had something like this in ages. Another great choice for just a tiny bit of sugar without going crazy. I’m saving it for after lunch on a day when I have something with garlic in it; I’ve found Glee Gum to be pretty good at freshening the breath.
Brownie Brittle in Chocolate Chip (1 oz, x2) – Value $1.34
We’ve gotten Brownie Brittle in Love with Food before but I think it was the salted caramel flavor. This one was good too although I think I slightly prefer the salted caramel. Although I still highly prefer the gooey, somewhat under cooked center brownies without any crust most of all!
Smooze Fruit Ice in Coconut + Mango – Value $1.19
Smooze Fruit Ice in Coconut + Pink Guava – Value $1.19
We’ve also gotten Smooze before in Love with Food, but I think it was the coconut + pineapple flavor. I enjoyed the one I had before so I was happy to try some new flavors. Maybe this is just me, though, but I washed the outside of the packages with dish soap before putting them in the freezer. You get your mouth all over the package while eating them but since they’re not in the original container, I have no idea who touched them or what they came into contact with.
Kutoa Peanut Butter & Jelly Bar (1.7 oz, x 2) – Value $1.67
These were just OK for me. They pretty much tasted like date bars with a little peanut flavor as an afterthought.
Emily’s Trail Mix (0.85 oz, x 2) – Value $1.66
Although the description on the Love with Food site mentioned chocolate, these were basically just dried fruit and nuts – a good mix of protein and carbohydrates for an afternoon pick-me-up, though.
Skinny Pop Jalapeno Popcorn (1.5 oz) – Value $1.46
I got this in the Vegan Cuts snack box this month, too. Which is fine since I like it. It has a little bit of a kick without being too spicy, and popcorn is always filling while being relatively low in calories.
Beanfield’s Bean & Rice Chips in Nacho (1.5 oz) – Value $1.37
Beanfield’s are almost as common in food boxes as lip balms are in beauty boxes. But, I do like them so I am fine with getting more as long as there are also some snacks that are new to me.
One Potato Two Potato Kettle Chips in Seaside Salt n’ Vinegar (2 oz) – Value $1.04
One Potato Two Potato Kettle Chips in Savannah Sweet Onion (2 oz) – Value $1.04
I never let myself buy potato chips at the supermarket so I was very happy to see these. I preferred the Savannah Sweet Onion flavor to the salt and vinegar flavor, but that is not all that surprising – I’ve never been a huge fan of salt and vinegar flavored chips.
Women’s Complete Smarty Pants (2 gummies) – Value $0.41
Men’s Complete Smarty Pants (2 gummies) – Value $0.42
These only have 2 gummies each (one complete dose is 6 gummies). I suppose I could combine them with the Smarty Pants I got in Bulu Box and Bulu Box Weight Loss this month to get a full 6-gummy serving, but they’re not vegetarian (gelatin and fish oil) so I can’t have them anyway. My husband ate the men’s vitamins but says he’ll stick with his Centrum.
Meli Honey Waffle with Belgian Chocolate (1 oz) – Value $1.04
Now this, I loved. I don’t think I ever had a honey waffle before Love with Food and now I think they’re wonderful. The chocolate was a nice touch.
This box came with a sample of Simple micellar water. I will use this – I find micellar water to be good at getting raccoon eyes from waterproof mascara off my face.
Every Love with Food box comes with coupons and product literature.
This month, Love with Food subscribers also received (via email) $50 off codes for Tieks. I believe they’ve expired by now but, at any rate, I gave mine to another MSA reader last week. I am really not into ballet flats, especially ones that cost over $100…
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $15.32 for the May 2016 Love with Food Deluxe Box. That is a somewhat low value, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. One, if you were actually planning to use the Tieks code, that adds $50 in value. Two, if you will use the coupons and/or the micellar water, that also adds a bit of value. Three, if you get this box on a long-term subscription instead of month-to-month and/or if you use our coupon, you save something. And four, don’t forget to review the snacks in your box for points. They’ve recently increased the number of points you get per review (and unlike Birchbox, you can go back and review stuff from past months).
What do you think of the May 2016 Love with Food box? What’s your favorite snack subscription?
