Julep Lip Gloss in Lively - Retail Value $20

Julep makes some very nice glosses; in the gloss game, that means not too sticky. I like to have a gloss on hand for days when I don't have time to apply a lipstick with precision but still want some color. Lively is a sheer hot pink color with some fuchsia undertones. It had some pretty good lasting power and kept my lips feeling hydrated. Loved the scent too, totally yum.

Here's the gloss on, it's a nice subtle shade for my fair complexion. I did noticed that pigment settled into the creases in my lips.

Julep Skip the Brush Creme-To-Powder Blush Stick in Peony Pink - Retail Value $24

Julep When Pencil Met Gel in Bronze Shimmer - Retail Value $16

This was my first time trying one of Julep's Skip the Brush blushes and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a blush + brush kind of girl and I wasn't sure how this would go on over my foundation. I applied it in dots rather than a streak and blended it out in circular motions with my fingers. It blends beautifully and the color is a lovely baby pink with a subtle shimmer.

The When Pencil Met Gel eyeliner in Bronze Shimmer was soft, creamy, and swatched nicely. It's a bit lighter than what I would normally wear but is a good neutral with a hint of bling. I haven't betrayed my liquid liner wing in years so I wasn't able to give this a shot on my eye.

Swatched above are Julep's When Pencil Met Gel Liner in Bronze Shimmer, Skip the Brush Creme-To-Powder Blush Stick in Peony Pink, and Lip Gloss in Lively.

Hey, polish, hey. Here's the line-up of Star Spangled polishes.

Julep Nail Color in Myriam - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Brigitte - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Paulina - Retail Value $14

Myriam is a nice red shade (a twist on a classic) with orange undertones. I prefer warm reds like this, the more orange the better, over cool reds so I was really happy about this color. The polish went on smoothly with even coverage which meant I really only needed 2 light coats. I recommend always using a base coat but especially when using any red polish - they can be tough to remove!

Paulina is a metallic teal described by Julep as a peacock duochrome. It is a full coverage shimmer polish and was easy to apply. I like that Julep took some creative license in their Star Spangled Set by using a teal rather than a true blue.

Brigitte is a bright white. As usual with white polishes, the first coat goes on pretty streaky and you'll have to take care to get full coverage in a few coats.

Verdict: I think this is a fantastic welcome box from Julep - they've picked great products to introduce new customers to their line. Most people think polish when they think of Julep so it's smart of them to include some makeup products. My favorite item from the box is the blush, the creamy application is nice and I like that the shimmer lets it act as a blush and highlight in one.

If you are interested in the Julep Maven subscription, there's no better way to get started! And good to know about Julep - you can skip any month you aren't interested in.

Welcome Emily. I must say you’re quite in a memorial day mood with Red, White and Blue.

Welcome, Emily! This was a great review and your pics look professional. It’s helpful to see the products worn as intended and not just swatched.

Hi Heather and thanks! I enjoy testing the products, love painting my nails, and I hope to show myself wearing more makeup products in the future!

Welcome Emily!
Awesome review and great pics!
I’m so envious of your polish application skills! I always end up with 7-8 fingers needing a long soak to get rid of the polish around my nails.

Hi Jinytte and thank you! It takes a lot of practice for sure to get the application down. It helps me to remember that I don’t have to get the polish RIGHT up next to my cuticle, so I just imagine a border of nail between my cuticle and the polish, if that makes sense!
