Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods.  It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.

The Subscription Box: Box of Happies

The Cost:  $29.99 (that’s $24/month + $5.99 shipping; when I played with the shopping cart I was also charged tax but I think that’s because they’re in the same state I am); save with longer subscriptions

The Products:  3-5 handmade items such as jewelry, stationery, bath/body items, accessories, and more.

Ships to: US

I kind of like these plastic cases.  They look to be a good size for storing beads or other craft supplies (and goodness knows, I have enough of those…).

Included was an information card listing the items in the box.  Also there was a business card for Box of Happies.

Box of Happies Handmade Necklace – Value $10

Box of Happies Handmade Earrings – Value $8

Box of Happies Handmade Bracelet – Value $8

These are all exclusive items for the box so I took the values from the information card.  They seem pretty reasonable for freshwater pearls and handmade jewelry.  These items are definitely my style so I will get use out of them.  (I have a nickel allergy and have to be careful about earrings but usually a few coats of clear nail polish on the posts are enough protection.)  If they’re not your style, they would be good for gifting.

My Shutter Door Fabric Flower Pen – Value  $2.50

I used to play with ribbons and make flowers like this all the time.  Although this one looks nicer than what I made.  I can be pretty sure my husband won’t use this one, but I can’t be sure one of my cats won’t find it fascinating.

Tija Creations Cupcake Notecards – Value $5.50

These are cute and I don’t have many cards around so they will come in handy for those times when I just want to send a quick note but don’t have time to run to the store.

Here’s a closeup of the cupcake pattern on the note cards since it wasn’t very visible in the previous photo.  I think this is super cute.

Verdict:  I calculated a value of about $34 for the April 2016 Box of Happies.  That is a little more than the cost of the subscription + shipping.  I liked all the items, including that there were some exclusive items.  I also like this method for learning about Etsy artisans because Etsy can be sort of overwhelming to navigate due to the sheer number of similar shops.  I think this box would also be good if you want to have a few extra gift items on hand.

I ve been impressed with the quality of the items in box of happiest. When I ve gotten the box I ignore RV because the items if sold in a retail store could easily be double the stated RV on the card. What I would like to see them do is lower the RV by 5 and put a home item in every box instead of mainly jewerly
