Beauteque-BB-April-2016-Info

April's theme is "Big City Beauty Secrets: The Ultimate Editor's Picks." Honestly I don't really look at the themes because I don't think Beauteque sticks to them very much. The theme is just to make the box sound more cohesive, while the stuff about "ultimate editor's picks" means very little to me.

Seatree Art Moisture Mist - $10.99

Seatree is a new brand for me. This is a facial mist that contains white lily and Vitamin C to rejuvenate and refresh skin. It's also makeup friendly. The nozzle sprays a generous radius of fine mist. The mist does have a floral fragrance but fades quickly.

Dr. Morita Q10 Firming Eye Mask (set of 8) - $9

Dr. Morita is a Taiwanese brand! It's cool that they're featured in what's usually a Korean brand dominated box. Subscribers receive either the Moisturizing Essence or Q10 Firming masks. I got the Q10 one, which claims to brighten skin and reduce the appearance of dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles. This is a box of 8 individually-packaged under eye patches (for a total of 16 patches). The material looks and feels like typical sheet masks. The patches adhere very well to my skin-- no slippage at all. The patches also remain moist enough to last more than 10-15 minutes. Even though I can't attest to any anti-aging effects, I like these for the moisturizing and cooling effects.

The Saem Saemmul Easy Eyeliner in 01 Black - $9.99

This is your basic retractable black eyeliner. Sadly the stick was was already broken in half upon opening. The eyeliner applies very smoothly, but it isn't as long-lasting as other eyeliners I own. It is not smudge-proof like the info card suggests; the color started transferring to my upper lids after a couple hours of wear.

Toyoepin 2 in 1 Permanent Crazy Mini Natural False Lash - $7.99

These are handmade synthetic falsies. This is a new Japanese brand for me. I don't wear false lashes but I may keep them for a special occasion.

Swatch of The Saem eyeliner. Here you can see the retractable eyeliner was broken upon opening. I don't mind too much since I can still use it if I stick it back in the tube.

Somoon Dog Nose Pore 3 Step Pack - $5.99

Pore strips are meant to remove blackheads by basically pulling them out of your pores. This is a 3-step pore pack that's designed to rid the skin of sebum and blackheads and then soothe and moisturize the nose. I rarely have blackheads (my problem is more with sebaceous filaments) and I don't like how aggressive the pore strips are on my poor nose. I'll be giving this to someone who enjoys them more.

Baviphat Urban Dollkiss Mango Magic Brightening Mask - $21

This is a oxygenating bubble mask from Baviphat. It bubbles just a little bit upon application, although it's very tame compared to some other bubbling masks I've tried (i.e. Bliss triple oxygen foaming mask and Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask). It is also slightly difficult to wash off. Afterwards, though, my face feels very smooth to the touch.

Beauteque-BB-April-2016-4

This is the bag for the month! It's a hot pink makeup pouch large enough to carry a handful of makeup.

Verdict: April's Beauteque BB Bag was a solid box! While it delivered on value and full-sized items, I wasn't really wowed by any particular product. My favorite was the Dr. Morita eye patches though. Maybe if they switched the black The Saem eyeliner to an uncommon shade I would have been more satisfied with the overall curation. However, the total value comes to about $65 (not accounting for the bag), which meets the guaranteed monthly value. I should note that you can totally find these items elsewhere, such as overseas e-retailers, for cheaper but that doesn't account for international shipping costs, quality, customs fees, and authenticity. I recommend this subscription if you want to discover a mix of full-sized Asian makeup and skincare items!

I dropped a few boxes and saw this and thought to give it a try the next few months. I love beauty supplies so this may be what I am looking for.

This box was just okay for me. I’m 58, and acne is a long time in my past. It seems almost every box has an acne control product in it. The other products were just okay. I’ll probably give this one more month, and then maybe try one of the other Asian beauty subscriptions.

I did not like this one. I have tried most of the K-beauty subs over the last year or two. Memebox (you can choose the box you want- it is not a regular sub) and Mishibox are the best value for money. And the siblings who run Mishi are sweet! I only dropped it because I HAVE to use some stuff up or it will expire!

I tried the 3 step dog nose kit, and it was amazing. Totally removed my blackheads, I’ve never seen my skin so clear. Nothing like the Biore strips I loathe. The downside is that it takes almost an hour to do all of the steps. It’s not something I’d do every day, but would be awesome for special occasions.

So, my peach product was not a mask or peel but a moisturizer.

Weird.

Great review Nancy—honest and straightforward. I think the best thing about this subscription is the exposure to new brands. Also, they load the box, there are many full-sized inclusions and a wide variety of items. The downside is many of the items are repetitive–I have more snail creams than I would ever want, plus several of the products don’t seem to have any noticeable effect (though a few did perform as advertised). I get a kick out of the clever packaging and new/unusual offerings. Since I am using only a fraction of the monthly items, I will cancel before my next renewal date. They include a lot of masks; if I wanted masks I would have subscribed to their Mask Maven sub. I do feel overall it is a good value for the price if able to use the items included since they do not scrimp on size or number. And you are spot on–there is no real “theme” but thankfully the included info sheet has english instructions or I would be lost.

Thank you! 🙂 I haven’t seen too many mask products from my boxes, though maybe I just jinxed myself for next month.
