The Yoga by Candace Mantra Box is a quarterly discovery box highlighting products from small businesses in the health and wellness areas. Only a small number of boxes (150) are typically available so be sure to get one while you can! (Candace is a full-time yoga instructor and healthy living blogger. Check out the Yoga by Candace site for lots of yoga instruction, some 30-day programs, recipes, links to YouTube instructional videos, and more.)
Yoga by Candace sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
The Subscription Box: Yoga By Candace Mantra Box (Spring 2016) Note: This box is no longer available but you can purchase the Summer 2016 box or sign up for all three remaining 2016 boxes here.
The Cost: $49.99
The Products: Yoga supplies, snacks, health and wellness items, and other great products from small businesses.
Good to Know: You can choose “vegan/vegetarian,” “Paleo,” or “I eat all the foods!” to be sure you’ll get suitable items for your dietary needs. You can also check a box to indicate you’re a man, which would replace items like feminine jewelry with other items. I am not sure which box this is, although I do note that everything was vegetarian, which works for me!
Ships to: US for $9.99, other countries for an additional charge

Included was an information card with a list of products in the box and where to find them. There are coupon codes for most of the items in the box, as well.
Nyl Skincare Velvet Transformative Serum (0.5 fl oz) – Value $39
This is a dry oil with a ton of antioxidants. It’s cruelty free and all the fragrance is natural, as well. I am almost out of my nighttime serum and will work this into the rotation in its place.
Golden Chai Turmeric Tea (8g x 2) – Value $6.66
This is low glycemic and high in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds. It’s pretty spicy but if you like regular chai, this is a fun twist.
Michele’s Toasted Muesli (2 oz) – Value $0.87
I am not big on eating granola on its own or as a topping on yogurt. But, I have a muffin recipe I really like that requires granola, mashed bananas (keep old ones in the freezer until you need them), and fresh blackberries (just coming into season now). This will work really well in that recipe.
MyKind Organics Garden of Life Vitamin C Spray (2 oz) – Value $10.99
This brand is starting to pop up in a lot of subscription boxes this month. I probably need this more in winter during cold season but I will keep it around for when I feel something coming on. I like the orange-tangerine flavor, too.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bars (1.6 oz x 3) – Value $8
I like hemp hearts but am glad to see a different product from this company (besides the ubiquitous bags of plain hemp hearts). My favorite flavor was the chocolate, which should come as no surprise to anyone.
Primal Palate Meat & Potatoes Seasoning (sample) – Value $2 (?)
This contains pink Himalayan salt, paprika, onion, garlic, black pepper, and oregano. Next time we have roasted potatoes as a side dish, we will toss them with this mix. As a biochemist, I don’t really believe all the claims on the product page about balancing pH and removing “toxins,” but the combination of flavors sounds good anyway!
Erbaviva Sweet Orange Essential Oil (10 mL) – Value $13
I like to use a few drops of this in an ultrasonic humidifier/diffuser. Makes the whole room smell absolutely wonderful.
Asutra Organic Mat Cleaner (4 fl oz) + Microfiber Towel – Value $10.95
I have a lot of yoga mat cleaners. Like, a lot of them. I do spray down my yoga mat after every use but I never bothered to wipe it with a towel after that. I wonder if I have been skipping a step all along? Well, now I don’t have an excuse.
There was also some product literature for the essential oil.
Modern Oats in Vermont Maple (2.11 oz) – Value $3.50
These are non-GMO and certified gluten free oats. This was a super simple breakfast at work one day. There are some other flavors that also sound very good that I would like to try.
The Paleo Nut Cranberry Chia Granola (2 oz) – Value $1 (?)
This must be a really small company (looks to be an Etsy operation) because the whole site was shut down when I was writing this review, so the value is a total guess because I don’t know the package size for the full-sized product. This is a grain free granola that is pretty good in my muffin recipe (see above).
Clever Yoga Hand Grips – Value $16.99
By squeezing these, you can strengthen the wrists and forearms. I have small, weak wrists and will definitely benefit from continued use of these.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $113 for the Yoga by Candace Spring 2016 Mantra Box. That is, once again, a wonderful value for a yoga box. Almost every item was new to me and I liked the mix of personal care items, food, and actual yoga/exercise-related goodies. This is becoming one of my favorite boxes to receive and I wish it came more often than quarterly!
