VellaBox is a monthly candle subscription! Every month they send you quality, small-batch, toxin-free, hand-poured candles.
They have 3 different levels of subscription: the Lucerna, the Ignis, and the Vivere.
This is a review of the Vivere box. (But at the end of the review we show you what was included in the Lucerna and the Ignis! That’s why there’s multiple boxes in the box photo.)
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Each box comes with an info card detailing the candles featured that month, as well as the bonus gift.
San Diego Candle – 7.5 oz, value: $17
This candle has a 35-45 hour burn time. I love this fragrance! It smells like pomegranate oil, grapefruit, lemon and sage. I also love the packaging – the coordinates are a nice touch, and I actually like how it has the fragrance notes/ingredients listed right there on the glass.
Encinitas Tin Candle – 4 oz, value: $12
This candle is supposed to have a 20-25 hour burn time. I like the scent, but not as much as the San Diego scent. This one is described as “soothing extract of herbal tea carefully brewed with fresh elderberries, ylang ylang, litsea cubeba, mandarin and ginger.”
This Bar Saves Lives in Dark Chocolate Cherry & Sea Salt – One 1.5 oz bar, value: $2.08
And here is March’s bonus gift. I’m a fan! It was delicious.
Now, for your reference and information, I’m also going to show you what was in the other two versions of their subscription for March – the Lucerna and the Ignis.
The Lucerna (the standard/base subscription) for March included a 4 oz tin candle version of the San Diego scent, valued at $12. It also had a “This Bar Saves Lives” Bar as the bonus gift, since the bonus gift is standard across all of their boxes.
And the Ignis (the middle-level) subscription included the same 7.5 version of the San Diego candle as the Vivere, reviewed above. It also included a “This Bar Saves Lives” Bar as the bonus gift.
Verdict: I enjoyed the March VellaBox selections! I like learning about small candle companies, and I liked both fragrances featured this month. The Vivere had a value of $31, which is basically the cost of the box. I’m okay with this since I liked both candles this month, plus there’s $6 shipping directly from the SoCal Candle Co. so it is cheaper than having bought them straight from the maker. I do hope to see an increase in value in the future. (FYI - the value for the Lucerna box is $14 and it costs $12 shipped, and the Ignis offered a value of $19, and it’s $22 shipped).
