The box came with this information card, which included directions for each product (the labels were not in English so this was helpful) as well as the products’ intended effects.

Too Cool for School Dinoplatz Cushy Blusher in #1 Beach Break (20 mL, full size!) – Value $23

This product is from Korea.

This is a great color for pale skin tones (like mine) or when you just want a little bit of color.  It was pretty much impossible for me to get clown cheeks with this!  You can use it before or after powder (I used it after).  I have had this on all day so far and it is not aggravating the oil problem in my T-zone, plus it is still showing up, so that’s a win.

This has rose oil for hydration and improving skin texture and lily extract for smoothing and softening, as well as plenty of standard blush ingredients.  It’s not a color I tend to reach for often (swatch below) but  I like the performance and it is available in several other shades so I will probably check those out.

Holika Holika Egg Cleansing Foam (140 mL, full size!) – Value $16

This product is from Korea.

This is a cleansing foam so I have used it as the second step of a two-step cleansing regimen to remove makeup (the first step is an oil-based cleanser of which this is my current favorite).

This has a lot of egg-derived ingredients and is supposed to be good for removing dead skin cells and debris from the pores after you’ve removed the makeup with the oil-based cleanser.  It is non drying, as well.  (FYI, the egg container looks like it is dirty but that is because it is coated in fine particles from the black paper shreds that came in the box.  Those can be dusted or rinsed off.)

Here’s a look at the blush applicator.  It’s great that they give you a replacement applicator.

I love the inside of the egg packaging, too.

Missha Bubble Maker – Value $1.40

This product is from Korea.

I wasn’t sure what to make of this when I saw it (I have a Missha konjac sponge but have never heard of this item before).  It is a fold of shower pouf mesh with a handful of foam cubes inside.  There are no English instructions but the Korean instructions include diagrams.  I wetted this, added some liquid facial cleanser that does not have any sulfates or detergents, then rubbed it between my hands for a bit.  And it made an awesome, foamy lather out of a soap that normally doesn’t lather at all.  I’m officially a fan.  This will get me using all those cleansers I wasn’t as excited about before!

Banila Co. Golden Aloe Mask Sheet (brightening) – Value $5.90

This product is from Korea.

Like many other sheet masks, this one has brightening effects.  This one has aloe which should help with moisturizing, and it has something called “golden complex” which consists of Manuka honey, chamomile, and gold kiwi.  This should be very soothing to the skin, plus honey has antibacterial properties and there should be some antioxidants from the kiwi.  (I’ll admit to not having tried this one yet, but I received Beauteque Mask Maven on the same day so I have a LOT of sheet masks to get through at the moment.  Looking forward to it, though.)

Elimina Beta-Bio Gel Eye Kiss Mask – Value $2.40

This product is from Korea.  Please note: I am having a hard time finding this for sale and the above price may be a wholesale price (the link seems to be to a wholesale seller).  So this price might not be accurate.

This is a gel made from a low molecular weight compound (presumably the beta-glucan, sodium hyaluronate, and hydrolyzed collagen are present as smaller polymers, although I have to admit as a biochemist that I’m not sure how that would impact the mask properties – the page I linked to says it makes the mask more breathable).

The hyaluronate is a polymer that attracts and hangs on to a lot of water molecules so it will be moisturizing.  This is why hyaluronic acid is in a lot of anti-wrinkle preparations – hydrated skin may appear to show fewer lines.  For my own purposes, I like to keep items like this in the refrigerator and use them when the area under my eyes is puffy, so that is what I did here.  Definitely soothing.  You are supposed to be able to move around with these on, without having them slip, but I didn’t know that until aver they were gone so I couldn’t test it out.

Tonymoly Tony Tint in #3 Orange (full size!) – Value $6

This product is from Korea.

This item was also in the TutiiBag for this month, though I got a different color this time, and I don’t think I already had the orange one (swatch below) although I could be wrong about that since my lipcolor collection has more than 200 items in it and it is not sorted at all…

Anyway, what I like about these is that you can build the color for varying intensities and once it dries, it does not come off without some serious effort.  I usually put gloss over this once it dries for moisture because although it contains argan oil, trehalose, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, olive oil, etc., it is not super moisturizing once you have applied it.  (I’ve tried the Etude House version of the same product and I like the Tonymoly ones better in terms of staying power and ease of application.)

tutiibox-march-2016-swatch

Here are swatches of the Tony Tint (on top) and the Dinoplatz blush (bottom).  Both are pretty orange!  I actually think I would wear them together.  Sometimes I coordinate my makeup with my clothes and I have a few outfits these colors would work with.

Verdict:  I calculated a value of $54.70 for the March 2016 TutiiBox.  That is almost twice the cost of the box, and the value may be a bit higher since I had trouble finding some of the items outside of wholesale sites.  Almost all of the products are new to me, I have used or will use everything, and some of the packaging is just too cute.  I loved getting three full-sized products and I am fascinated with the bubble maker.

What did you think of the March 2016 TutiiBox?  Do you get any K-Beauty or Asian Beauty subscriptions?

I get their mask sub and have really been enjoying it. I do mostly receive masks from Korea, but also sometimes Japanese ones as well. I enjoy the unusual selection (last month had a donkey milk mask LOL!!) and the value is always over cost of the sub.

I think I am going to start reviewing the mask sub, soon. Will be interesting to see how it differs from Beauteque Mask Maven.

Ragan, that Holika Egg looks like the cutest thing ever! How does it work? It looks like the yellow yolk pops up, but is the cleanser a cream that turns into a foam? I’m curious, never seen it before.

Ragan

The top part of the yolk is a cap you flip up and then you can just squeeze the cleanser out by holding the base. It is a clear (viscous) liquid. I can’t get it to foam very well (but I can never seem to get the foaming cleansers to foam) so I use the Missha bubble maker with it.

I need this like I need a hole in the head, but I can’t resist getting a new (to me) color of the Dinoplatz cushy blusher. The rest is just a bonus!

Mind you, this is all hoping that I get this box…

This was the the March box (they sent it pretty late in the month) so if you subscribe now, you will get different items.

Ally

I wish they’d give up the facade of being an “international” beauty product subscription. I think out of all the reviews I’ve read of this box, only one or two products have NOT been from Korea. I’d subscribe if they were actually sending a wide selection international products!

There’s usually like one non-Korean product per box/bag, in my experience. I’ve seen several from Japan (SK-II, Shiseido), as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. But I have only seen Asian brands. (I’m fine with that for my own purposes.)

Reply ButtonReply

Ally

Oh yeah I love Asian beauty stuff (Japanese is my fav, Korean second) and have probably way too much. I just wish they’d stop touting it as an international box when it’s really a K-beauty box with the occasional “other Asian” product thrown in.

Hailey

Love the note about polymers, and that you are a beauty expert AND a biochemist 🙂

The Missha bubble maker is the best. It allows you to use as little product as possible so you aren’t wasting. Squeeze down to put foam in your hands. My face feels so clean afterwards.

Ragan

Haha, there are no worries about wasting here. I have a 16 liter Sterilite bin full of cleanser samples from boxes. I can’t use them up fast enough! But there has been a trend lately of sending non-lathering cleansers in subscriptions and GWPs and the bubble maker is definitely useful for that.

Just signed up for the box subscription & I was wondering if I will get the April box or May now. Does anyone know?

Ragan

When I subscribed to the TutiiBag, I ordered on January 11 and my first bag shipped on January 12. I guess they did that because they had bags left over. But, sometimes the TutiiBox sells out, I think. You may want to check with them.

Tonya

After I commented I went to my email and they had literally shipped it within the hour!!! Wow! I’m impressed & can’t wait to get it.

Love the products. It’s too much for me to spend in a beauty box, but the products are too cool. I hope you’ll review the TutiBag

There are a couple of TutiiBag reviews up on MSA already (click where it says “Miss Tutii Reviews” up at the top of the post) and I am working on the April one now!
