If you’re not familiar with Trendy Butler, here’s how it works: You take a style quiz, and you get a box of 1-3 menswear items to keep! This is not a shopping service like Stitch Fix where you pay for whatever items you don’t send back – it’s just $65, and whatever they send is yours forever.

TRENDY BUTLER MARCH 2016 - items 1

Kinetix Casual Luxury Watergate Bay Thermal Tee – value: $55

My husband, Luke, graciously agreed to model this menswear for me! This tee is very comfortable. It’s made from “super soft slub thermal cotton.” My husband loves it, but it does require a tank top or under shirt under it (which he’s wearing here). The bodice material is a lighter material and you can see through it a bit when worn alone.

TRENDY BUTLER MARCH 2016 - items 2

Naadam Cashmere Men’s Knit Hat – value: $25?

In all honesty, we just moved this past weekend and this hat got mixed up in the shuffle of things. So I can’t confirm if it’s the same brand as the rest of the items or not, and I also can’t find it on Kinetix’s site. I CAN tell you that it’s really thick and very warm. I can tell it’s a nice quality! My husband never tried hats like this but he tried this one on and he loves it!

Kinetix Casual Luxury Poolside Hoodie – value: $121

I think this is the same hoodie as the one that I linked to, just in a different color scheme. This is probably my husband’s favorite thing I’ve ever gotten in a subscription box. It’s his new favorite thing to wear and he hasn’t taken it off since we got it! Again, it’s a nice quality. The material isn’t super thick, but it is warm. This means it doesn’t add any bulk and I think it’s really flattering.

Verdict: My first impression of Trendy Butler is a good one! I love the things they sent us. It was the perfect balance of my husband’s style comfort zone and trying some new styles/items (the hat) that he didn’t know he would like. Even without knowing the exact value of the hat, the value adds up to $176 for just the shirt and hoodie ($201 if you add $25 for the hat). Now, we would not go spend that much on a shirt, hoodie, and hat, so to get that value/this kind of quality out of this box is nice. I’d have to say that, for this sub, if you would spend $65 or more on the items you get, it’s a win. And this is a win for us!

Total rip off! I signed my husband up for this because I use Stitch fix and I love it! The first mint the sent a shirt and a pair of black jeans. They were brands that I had never heard of and did not fit great but stupidly I gave them another chance. The second month they sent the almost exact same shirt and a jacket but this time they were two sizes too small! When I tried to exchange them since they obviously made a mistake as the clothes fit me better than my husband who is twice my size, I was told I would have to pay $15 unless I stayed signed up for their cheep knock off junk. I told the no I would like to cancel and they charged me again because they need 5 full business days to cancel! I had to cancel my debit card just to be rid of this horrible company. Now that Stitch fix has men’s clothes, there is no need to suffer with this subpar service.

Trendy Butler has the worst customer service and worst design choosing process out there. Plus they will charge you to return without even telling you. They send you a pre-paid label and then deduct it from any refund. Horrible decision to try them.

Worst company ever. Their website says it can take anywhere from 9-17 business days to receive your first package. It’s now been 22 business days and I still have received nothing from them. Their automated response message system is terrible and their customer service agents offer no recourse as someone else mentioned. They are ridiculous, do yourself a favor and do NOT subscribe to them.

I’m 40 years old, would this be a fit for me or is this a fashion for men in there 20’s to 30’s?

Looking for a review of Trendy Butler? Wondering if it’s all too good to be true?

TLDR: It most certainly is.

Trendy Butler is a terrible business model.

Trendy Butler sent me two shirts that were laughably bad. I tried them on to show my wife just how awful. She laughed at me.

Trendy Butler WILL NOT give you a refund if you’re unsatisfied.

Now Trendy Butler is laughing, all the way to the bank with my money.

Yes, I was intrigued by the price. Yes, I was motivated to purchase subscription clothing because I hate going to the mall and being run over by a marauding mob of morons chasing Pokemon on their phones with a blatant disregard for human life – mine or theirs.

No, I was not expecting there to be zero course of action for a refund from Trendy Butler when the clothes arrived and were not up to snuff.

First, there were zero instructions included in the package. Not even an invoice. Nothing. Being my first time using their service, it would have been nice to know that should I remove a tag in order to try on the shirt that it would null any opportunity for a return or refund.I’m sure it was buried in the terms & conditions in the footer of their website. In 6 point font size, of course.

Second, after engaging in an email exchange with a support agent, I was repeatedly apologized to but given no recourse. After stewing in my frustration juices for a few days, I wrote her back and asked to have my case escalated to speak with a manager, who called after 2 days.

MEANWHILE, a charge for the clothing was placed on my credit card for $65. The manager, also apologetic, was “willing to step outside of their policy” but I was told I would have to pay for the return shipping and that a refund was not possible.

MEANING that I would have to endure another crappy, poorly made batch of clothes until I managed to have a stranger send me something I might find wearable.

Major, major service design fail, say nothing of the customer service fail.

Do yourself a favor fellow consumer and avoid this business with extreme prejudice. Trendy Butler is neither trendy, nor service-focused.

And isn’t that what we expect any good butler to be?
