SlobberBox is a monthly subscription box for holistic-minded humans and their dogs. It is a relatively new branch of the Wisconsin company called Companion Cuisine which, among other things, produces holistic dog treats filled with tons of nutrition but without added colors, preservatives, grains, etc.
SlobberBox kindly provided this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

SlobberBox included this letter with details about the food items included in the box, with details about some of the ingredients and nutritional benefits.
Sweet Potato Paw – Value $3 (?)
This is a total guess based on similar handmade dog treats on Etsy. This is made with sweet potato and garbanzo flour with a little coconut drizzle. (A lot of dogs – and cats – love coconut oil.) These are supposed to be good for eye, skin, and coat health.
Pig Ear – Value $1.49
Pig Snout – Value $2.29
These are non-branded so I linked to similar items from Entirely Pets, where I’ve shopped before without any trouble. These kind of gross me out but are perfect for dogs…
Also, these are made from USA-raised pigs (the items in the box are, anyway; not sure about the similar items I linked to above).
Aspenpet Hamburger Plush Toy (medium) – Value $3.99
Companion Cuisine Grain Free “Razzies” Dog Treats – Value $6.50 (?)
I couldn’t find this in the Companion Cuisine shop, so I am just using the price of similar items on their page. These are small, like training treats (or suitable for smaller dogs) and the only ingredients are garbanzo flour, raspberries, and honey. These will be suitable for dogs with a lot of common allergies. Although it’s not in their shop, they take custom orders so if this is popular with your dog(s) you can get Companion Cuisine to make more.
This month’s toy was a little too small to give to Nyx, but I didn’t want to leave you without any animal photos. So here are Nyx and Monkey looking out my dining room window. Monkey was watching a bumblebee and Nyx joined him but has no idea what she is looking at.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $17.27 for the April 2016 SlobberBox. Please take that value with a grain of salt. The only item I could find an exact listing for was the hamburger toy. The other values are guesses or estimates based on similar items. Depending on the quality, source, and processing particulars, the pig snout and pig ear could be valued quite a bit higher. Without brand names it is hard to tell. That being said, it might be nice to see at least one more item in the box to round things out a bit.
As-is, I think there are a couple of things to consider. One, if you sign up for a six-month subscription, that drops the price down a bit. Two, if your dog has allergies to grain, chicken, soy, etc., most of the treats in dog subscription boxes are out, whereas the items here are suitable for dogs with allergies and food intolerances.
What do you think of the April 2016 SlobberBox dog subscription box? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
