On a Saturday a couple of weeks ago, I went to the Box of Style Unboxing Party at the first ever Rachel Zoe pop-up shop at The Grove in Los Angeles. If you are thinking, wait… didn’t she just go there? Why, yes, I did and, hopefully, I will be able to go again since Rachel has extended the pop-up shop a bit and it will now be open through April 13! (If you want to see what happened at the Grand Opening Celebration, click here.)
Here is what I saw when I arrived at the shop this time.
The box itself. If you want to see what has been in the box so far, check out all of our Box of Style reviews!)
Here is what is included in the Spring box. Notice the new box style with the attached lid and the magnetic closure! Some people already received this box style in Spring, but everyone will receive it starting with Summer. (Here is our review of the Spring box.)
I decided to take a quick tour around the shop while waiting for the unboxing party to begin.
Yes, please! I am not sure what type of champagne this was, but it was good!
Yay, for some new pieces!
So pretty. Rachel Zoe is definitely good with details.
This time I stop for a quick picture.
Inside a dressing room.
Comfy spot.
Do you know what goes great with champagne?
A Rachel Zoe cupcake! Love it!
More new stock perfect for spring.
Buttery soft.
A different angle on one of my favorite pieces from last time and a best-selling item. Gorgeous.
Here is a closer view of the shelf in the middle of the shop.
Another best-seller.
The other end of the shelf.
Rachel is a master of detail.
This dress is beautiful in person.
Behind the front table, Jouer had a mini-makeover station especially for the unboxing party.
Fun décor item on Jouer table.
Continuing with the quick tour.
Box of Style cupcakes!
I want to show you the back of this dress. I have never seen anything like it. So fun!
Tassels!
Everyone who came to the unboxing party received a gift bag! Here are some waiting to be distributed to partygoers. (The contents here are different from the gift bag in the last giveaway.)
Black & White M&Ms from Dylan’s Candy Bar.
$50 coupon code towards a laurel & wolf design package. Rachel worked with laurel & wolf to design the popup shop.
Jouer Ready To Wear palette!
Swatched in the same order as the palette itself. The colors start off light and are buildable. Everyone received these same items.
Pretty cool, huh? But wait, there’s more!
There was a table set up containing 3 categories of items that were in past seasons of the Box of Style: beauty, accessories, and stylist tools. Each person got to pick one item from each of the 3 categories to keep! (This is where being a loyal Box of Style subscriber comes in handy!)
Here is what I received in the beauty category: Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer – Value $34 from the Summer 2015 box. Love Too Faced!
From the stylist tool category: Bristols Six Nippies Skin Covers – Value $26 also from that same box.
From the accessories category: Cambridge Satchel Company Large Push Lock Cross Body Bag – Value $150 also from the same box. Giveaway items were from different boxes, but mine all happened to be from the same season which is great because I loved that box. (Remember the sarong?!)
Also, who includes hero items as giveaways in a gift bag?! Seriously. I love Rachel Zoe.
Amazing haul! Wow.
Speaking of Rachel, here she is!
She told us about the Spring Box of Style and how she discovered Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk first overseas during fashion week a long time ago and would visit the French boutiques to load up on it to bring it back before dry shampoo became a thing in the United States. She said using dry shampoo is a trick that all great hairstylists rely on and this is a good one. It makes clean hair have texture/grip and makes dirty hair clean.
Some of the partygoers. People asked all kinds of questions.
Talking about sound quality and features of the LSTN Sound Co. Wembley Earbuds – Value $100.
Rachel talked about the Jouer Crème Eyeshadow Crayon and thanked Jouer for coming to the unboxing party and supplying the palette for the gift bag.
Rachel talked about the box itself and that she collects great boxes. She uses them mostly as decorative pieces and to store special items. Her collection has extended into her husband’s closet space! Partygoers were able to ask Rachel whatever we wanted and someone asked if she would be branching out to other box colors. She said they are sticking with black for now, but maybe would eventually branch out, possibly for future boxes if they someday do a holiday or LE box. She would love to do all kinds of boxes if it is possible and makes sense in the future! (Yay!)
I asked when we will see a Rachel Zoe item in the Box of Style. She said VERY SOON! So…. I don’t know if that means the upcoming Summer box which is now open for subscriptions, but here’s hoping! Several members of Team Zoe told me about how AMAZING the Summer box is going to be. Come on hero spoiler, we are ready!
She talked about how great it was to have The Concentrate by La Mer in the Spring box. Rachel said they are thrilled with customer’s reactions to the box, she and Team Zoe have a lot of fun putting it together, and that vendors are extremely happy with the box and really want to have their products in it. Win-win-win!
Someone asked Rachel how they know what to include in the Box of Style. She said first she makes sure that an item is something that she loves and would want to use herself, and that it is something that her friends and family would want. She also runs the item by Team Zoe to get everyone’s feedback. Assuming that is a go, the item is a great candidate to include in the box. She said she sometimes comes up with items that would be amazing, but are simply too large to fit in the box so they have to work around this. The Topshop Fedora from the Fall box was tricky to fit in the box, for example.
One of the things Rachel talked about is that they are going to start providing some additional benefits or perks to Box of Style subscribers to extend the experience beyond the box. (Yay again!) The first of these was the $50 promo card they sent out to subscribers about a month ago that could be used for shopping Rachel’s collection at RachelZoe.com. I love that they remember and appreciate their current subscribers!
Rachel said that the Box of Style is really a group effort by Team Zoe and that her husband/business partner actually thought of the idea for the box in the middle of the night a while back. She also told us that they subscribe to a lot of boxes and read the comments on MSA.
Most of the way through Rachel’s speaking time, it struck me that I should record a snippet for you guys. Here is what she was talking about when I thought of this.
Another fun thing that happened at the unboxing party was that I got to meet MSA Reviewer, Bekki, in person for the first time which is always fun! She is a sweetheart.
Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, here is the Spring Box reveal posted on the Box of Style website!
In other awesome news, Rachel was kind enough to give My Subscription Addiction a signed copy of her most recent book, Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour, which I highly recommend if you haven’t read it yet. So… It is time for a giveaway!
What do you think of the new pop-up shop, the unboxing party, and/or the Rachel Zoe collection? What are you hoping to see in Box of Style soon?
