Included was an information card detailing some of the items for the month.
Cat is Good Fluffy Chirping Ball – Value $2.99
PurrPacks often includes at least one noisemaking toy. Sometimes my cats like them and sometimes not. They seemed to enjoy this one more than usual.
Savvy Tabby Snuggle Mouse – Value $1.68
The kitties like the fluffiness of this one. A good standby.
Magnetic Dry Erase Board – Value $5 (?)
This is definitely going on the refrigerator. Which has already been taken over by pet-related magnets and photos. This comes from a screen printing company and I’m having a hard time finding this specific item online.
PurrPacks Exclusive Scratch Pad (large) – Value $10 (?)
There is one of these in every PurrPacks box. We are lining our upstairs hallway with them. The cats love them.
As always, Monkey was super helpful.
Fat Cat Springy Worms – Value $5.70
The tails of these were tightly wound, which I guess is why they’re called “springy.” Mostly the cats just like them because they’re small and easy to toss around.
Petstages Madcap Frog & Fly – Value $6.99
This was Monkey’s favorite thing. We’ve gotten a lot of toys from this company and product line and Monkey loves every single one. He licks and licks and licks them until they are wet, wet, wet.
OurPets 24 Karat – Value $3.29
Monkey and Sneaky both liked this. It’s just at the upper limit of the size they like in toys.
JW Pet Company Cataction Bouncing Feather Boa – Value $3.43
This was probably the best item in the box as far as my cats were concerned. All of them enjoyed playing with it. Feathers are quite popular around here (as you will see below).
Feline Greenies Dental Treats in Ocean Fish Flavor (2.5 oz) – Value $1.89
I have so many open treats right now, this is going to remain sealed for awhile. But my cats have been getting more into fish flavors so I expect these to be popular. I do find it mildly funny that a dental treat is in fish flavor since fish treats usually stink.
Purebites Freeze Dried Chicken Breast (0.6 oz) – Value $1.99
We have been getting a lot of these lately. Seriously a lot. But I like this company, having had experience with their products in the past, and I like that the treats only have one ingredient.
Madison likes feathers, too.
Madison checking out the springy worm.
Monkey really liked this frog toy. Check out his tongue in the third picture.
Monkey liked the carrot, too. He was having a lot of fun last night when I took these.
Monkey claimed the scratch pad for himself.
Sneaky bites things!
Sneaky and Monkey had a little ownership dispute over this one.
And here is the best picture I have taken of Mr. Kitty in a long time. I love this photo. (FYI, the dark part in his right eye is called a corneal sequestrum and it is a result of his eye herpes. It is a cluster of dead cells that have picked up pigment. Most cats would have surgery for this but because of his IBD medications, the ophthalmologist suggested waiting it out and letting them slough off. And yes, his left eye is cloudy and the vet knows about that too. It is also a result of corneal damage from his eye herpes combined with immune suppression from his IBD medications.)
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $43 for the April 2016 Purr Packs box. That is a little bit lower than the average value for this subscription, but still several dollars above the cost of the subscription. (Cat subscriptions seem to have very low values, so to get one above the cost of the box is good.) The items were hits with my cats, too. This is consistently one of my favorite cat subscriptions and this month was no exception.
What did you think of the April 2016 Purr Packs box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
