PupCrate is a subscription box for dogs.  They only send treats that are made in the USA.  Choose from a small dog box (0-20 pounds), a medium dog box (20-50 pounds), and a large dog box (50+ pounds).  This is a review of the large dog box.  My dog Nyx is a Rottweiler and right now she weighs about 84 pounds.

PupCrate kindly sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Included was an information card with more information about the items in the box.

Kong Cuteseas Medium Whale – Value $12.95

If your dog is destructive, I recommend cutting off the fins before giving this to him/her.  It is big enough for Nyx although it might be too small for a much larger dog (Nyx weighs 84 pounds right now).  Nyx loved it, of course.

Mammoth Flossy Chews Medium Color Bone – Value $3.99

This was just a little bit small for a dog Nyx’s size so it will be passed on to a neighbor.  But we have had the larger version of this toy in other boxes and they are fairly long-lasting.

No Grainers Training Size Soft Chews in Hickory Bacon Flavor (5 oz) – Value $4.99

These are grain free and soy free and made in the US.  They are made by the Nootie company, which also sometimes makes treats (including custom-packaged treats) for BarkBox.  I like that these are small so you can reward your dog regardless of his or her size, even if your dog is on a diet.

Earth Rated Poop Bags (1 roll) – Value $0.75

These will come in handy.  I usually just let Nyx go in the yard but before we mow, we have to pick it all up.  And, I also use them to hold what I scoop from the litter boxes rather than carrying a trash can around.  Plus, these are biodegradable.

The Lazy Dog Yippy Peanut Butter and Jelly Biscuits (6 oz) – Value  $6.49

This is clever packaging – they’re even in a peanut butter jar.  These are free from wheat, corn, soy, egg, meat products, dairy, sugar, salt, and preservatives.  (They do contain oats.)  If your dog has food allergies, these could still work for you.

Etta Says Savory Yumm Sticks (1 oz) – Value $2.29

The first ingredient in these is pork and they are grain free and made in the US.  I have gotten this brand before in some other box, but not this particular treat.  Nyx can’t have pork but I am sure I will have no problem finding a willing taker – there are lots of large dogs in my extended family.

Nyx working at pulling the fins off the whale…

And this is what she did when I decided it was time to take it away from her.  Let me tell you, Rottweiler jaws are STRONG.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $31.46 for the April PupCrate.   That is a little bit more than the cost of the subscription and is especially impressive considering that most of the prices quoted above are sale prices from Chewy.com (which is one of my favorite online sources for pet food, by the way).  All of the items are in current production from their manufacturers and all of the treats were made in the USA (many of them were free from common allergens, as well).  PupCrate is fairly new to me but I am quite happy with them so far, although I do wish they had an “extra large” dog option.

Have you seen or tested this sub? It’s designed for heavy chewers, bully breeds and the larger of the large dogs:

Haha! That look is sheer dertermination!
Whenever I see pics of her, I always get this visual of what Nyx is thinking!
“Thanks, mom for the toy! Hmm, how will I kill this one?!”

The first photo of Nyx is so so sweet, but the next one with her mouth full of dog toy looks like she’s saying (with her eyes) “back off or I will swallow this”! Lol she cracks me up!!
Ps. That Yippy jar is so clever
