Pet Pakz is a monthly subscription box for pets.  You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig).  You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bimonthly box if monthly is too often for you.  This is a review of the cat option.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Pet Pakz (for cats)

The Cost: $28 per month for the bronze level (3-5 items for one type of pet); $39 a month for the silver level (6-8 items for up to two types of pet); $50 a month for the gold level (9+ items for three types of pets); save with longer subscriptions.  This review is for the “bronze” level.

The Products: Toys, treats, and supplies for your dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, gerbil, or hamster.

Ships to: US (free shipping to continental US)

Because PetPakz is customizable and you can select different types of animals, there isn’t a traditional information card.  If you have a dog or cat individual or combined subscription, your items will be circled on the card.  (Small animal items are not listed on the card.)  Except mine weren’t circled this time.  No big deal, though.

Kong Refillables Catnip Hedgehog Toy – Value $3.99

This was one of two refillable catnip toys in this box.  This one was a little smaller and I think the cats liked it a bit better.

Petlinks Mouse Full Refillable Catnip Toy – Value $4

This was the other refillable toy.  It was not as popular with the cats.  I think it is a bit large for them to easily toss around.

Petcandy Squirrel – Value $7.13

The cats liked this.  I removed the black string around it (not sure what that was for but they all seem to have one).  They were more into the feather than the other part, but that is not surprising.

Supercat Crumples (40 count) – Value $5.93

We got these last month in this box, too.  I think last month’s box was made up of some leftovers, though, because I had subscribed after the cutoff and they contacted me and said they had some extra boxes and asked if I would like one.  So I won’t hold that against them just yet.

Purebites Freeze Dried Turkey Breast (0.49 oz) – Value $1.99

Madison is a big turkey fan (I tried like 7 different kinds of wet food with him and turkey was consistently his favorite) so these were a hit.  Freeze-dried treats have only a single ingredient, which is also nice.  And I am a fan of this brand going way back.

And now for the gratuitous cat pictures:

I like this picture because Madison and Sneaky look like they’re getting ready to kiss.

Monkey checks out the squirrel toy.

I just like the look on his face here.

Here’s another one where he looks totally unenthused.  But he actually did like the toys!

I am half convinced Sneaky does this so I will finish up taking pictures and leave her alone.  Regardless, it’s cute.

I love it when Sneaky bites things.

I feel obligated to include Mr. Kitty in at least one photo even though he wasn’t in the mood.  I think his eyes are doing better the past few days but we will go to the vet for a recheck in a few weeks, just to see.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $23 for the April Pet Pakz for cats box.  That is somewhat lower than I’d like to see since the price of a month-to-month subscription is about $5 more than that.  There may be a little bit of variation in the value because a lot of the items were on sale or available from third party sellers on Amazon.  I think this subscription is probably a better deal if you go for one of the multi-pet options because there would be some additional value in the customization.

What do you think of the April Pet Pakz box?  Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
