This box comes with a card that details all the items included.
Geek & Sundry Playing Cards - $8?
Wil Wheaton’s D6 – value: $4?
These are great basic items for a table top box. The cards are regular playing cards, but the D6 is actually a novelty die! I guess Wil Wheaton has chronic bad luck with dice rolls because this die lets you roll “the Wheaton Way” – but every side is a 1! Haha.
Felicia Day Pencils – two pencils, value: $3?
Geek & Sundry bumper sticker – value: $2?
These items are more merch/swag than table-top related. They feel a little like filler items, but I know they’re things that people who are fans of Geek & Sundry’s shows and Felicia Day and such.
Geek & Sundry Player Tokens and Velvet Pouch – value: $10?
These tokens are nice, metal pieces to keep track of your characters. They have some pretty cool designs, too. However, I wonder if mine has an error… There are 5 total: 2 warriors, a rogue, bard, and a barbarian. However, the info card shows only one warrior, and a wizard token which I don’t have. Which is a bummer because wizard/magic is usually the classes I go for. There’s a detail photo below.
No Survivors Notepad – value: $6?
No Survivors is one of Geek & Sundry’s shows which they stream on Twitch. This is just a basic notepad that flips up. Handy to keep track of scores, rolls, D&D details, etc.
Here’s a better look at the tokens – they feel like very nice quality!
Funko Magic the Gathering: Legacy Collection Figure, Ajani Goldmane – value: $24.99
This is the item I’m most excited about in this box! My husband and I really like Magic the Gathering, and he’s really into the stories involving all of the planes walkers. This isn’t our favorite walker – Jace is our favorite – but we like Ajani and he looks pretty hardcore here. My husband just got his own office here in our new house so he’s really excited about displaying his little collectibles!
Dungeons & Dragons Shadows of the Vampire Comic Book – value: $5?
It’s hard for me to put a value on this because it’s exclusive and I really don’t know the value landscape of comic books well. This one is a D&D themed book that features the cast of Geek & Sundry’s show Critical Role.
Geek & Sundry International Table Top Day T Shirt – value: $18?
I think this shirt is pretty cool! I love how it just casually says “I played more games” and then has a symbol for International Table Top Day 2016. It fits great, too. (Photo of me wearing it below.)
Here’s a close-up of the comic book cover!
Here’s what the t shirt looks like on! It fits like a glove and I’m excited to wear it April 30th.
Verdict: Nerd Block’s Table Top Box was, overall, not bad! I think there were some good collectibles and basics for gamers, but I think many of the items have the value Geek & Sundry intended only for people that are fans of Geek & Sundry. What I mean by that is some of it seems “swaggy” to me, like the bumper sticker, pencils (even though I love Felicia Day), and maybe even the comic book. The Wil Wheaton D6 is funny, but unusable really, so it’s more of a collectible too. I know a lot of people who snagged this box (myself included) were really hoping for a board game or even card game or something of that nature. I was a little disappointed that there were no stand-alone games, just accessories for other games – which is fine, because their target audience already plays some table top games. That being said, I am part of the target audience and I still feel like a game in itself of some sort would really have made this box for me. Also, I wish there would have been maybe a really cool set of (playable) dice (like D6s, D20s, etc), and that my token set wasn’t missing the Wizard.
All in all, it could have been better in my personal opinion, but I am still quite happy with it! I still got some really cool items! And I’m going to go check out Geek & Sundry’s shows, too. The value – based off my rough estimation for some items – comes out to about $81. They had stated this box was supposed to have a value of $70+ so I may have overestimated some individual values but I’m still in the ballpark.
