The March box arrived pretty late... it's almost May! Boxes for one month (i.e. March) are typically shipped during the next month (i.e. April) so I would keep that in mind if you're thinking of subscribing.
March's theme is DUEL. I immediately thought of Yu-Gi-Oh!, and what do you know, it's featured in the box!
EXCLUSIVE Ultraman Gaia T-shirt
Ultraman Gaia is part of the Ultra Series, a series of Japanese live action superhero shows featuring different Ultramen. It spans from the 60s to the present. Ultraman Gaia came out in the late 90s. Although I've never watch it before, this is undoubtedly a classic series. The t-shirt features Ultraman Gaia's huge form about to battle a giant creature. The shirt itself is comfortable and the print is good, sturdy quality.
EXCLUSIVE JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Snapback Hat
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a long-standing, action-adventure series. It follows people of the Joestar family, all of whom eventually discover magical powers and must fight supernatural enemies. There are eight parts to the series. Each part features a different family member and the series spans multiple generations of Joestars. I think the little characters on the underside of the hat are adorable despite now knowing who they are. It reads "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" in Japanese on the top. I hear about this series all the time but I'm not a huge fan of the art style and so haven't tried it. Maybe it's time to finally watch it!
EXCLUSIVE Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Business Card Case
This is the coolest business card holder I've ever seen. It has a faux leather exterior and velvet interior. Granted, I don't have business cards, but it's still a unique collectible item. Ace Attorney first started as a video game where you play Phoenix Wright, a defense attorney, whose goal is to prove his clients "not guilty" through investigations and evidence. There is also a new anime series that debuted this month. I think the briefcase-looking business card holder is so fitting for a show about lawyers!
EXCLUSIVE Yu-Gi-Oh! Crew Socks
These bright yellow socks are great! They feature Yugi's Millenium Puzzle. However, what isn't so great is Yu-Gi-Oh!. I never cared for the show. Something about his voice rubbed me the wrong way as a child, I dunno. I did collect some trading cards, though! The socks are size 8-12 so I'll have to pass it along to my boyfriend.
Superfight Anime Deck 2 - $15
Superfight is a card game where you combine character cards and attribute cards together and then argue with other players about who would win in a fight. I took out a couple of character cards that I was familiar with (Koro-sensei, anyone?). I couldn't find the Anime Deck 2 online so the link is to the first deck. It's possible that Deck 2 isn't available for purchase yet. I have the Superfight Loot Crate deck already so both decks will come in handy for a party!
EXCLUSIVE Duel Phone Charm
This is the monthly phone charm. Since the theme is Duel, it shows two fists in mid-fight.
Verdict: I thought this box was neat! Despite not being familiar with most of these anime series I still think the Loot Crate team finds quality items every time. In my opinion, the box may have been a little more geared toward males (this is due to the featured genres as well). I wasn't as excited about the snapback or crew socks that I couldn't wear. That said, the items I don't want are easily giftable. I also wasn't sure what each show had to do with the "Duel" theme, but I also wasn't familiar with most of them. There were so many exclusives in the box that I didn't attempt to estimate retail value, but for about $5 per item the value is definitely there.
What do you think of March's Loot Anime? What's your favorite collectible item?
