Le Tote is a month-to-month clothing rental subscription. When you sign up, you browse their catalog of clothing and accessories and create your “closet,” from which they select items to send to you. You keep the clothing to wear as long as you like, and you can also send back your box for a new selection of items as frequently as you like. If you love something enough to want to purchase it, you can simply hold onto it when you send the rest of that box back. Also, if you purchase your whole tote, you get one month free!

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 1

AVA Cool Hues Necklace – retail: $28 (LT price: $22)

This necklace is pretty. I liked the pastel colors, but it doesn’t fit into my current wardrobe very well.

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 2

NOIR Double Layer Printed Top – retail: $68 (LT price: $54)

This top is as close to cheetah print as I comfortably get. I thought the top fit very well and would have made a good top for an office job!

MAX STUDIO Ponte Pants – retail: $98 (LT price: $74)

GUYS. These pants may have changed my life. They felt amazing when I put them on, but they were just a smidge too tight. I went onto LT to see if I could buy them a size up, but they didn’t seem to have them available. So I went googling and found a large, and actually for cheaper than the LT price.

What I love about them is that they are a really nice, thick knit and look like dress pants but feel like yoga pants! And they have a high rise and a thick elastic band. I’m pretty sure my thighs were singing when I pulled these pants on – they feel great.

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 3

FRAICHE BY J Printed Wrap Blouse – retail: $88 (LT price: $66)

I thought this top was quite pretty. I don’t own much coral and I’ve been playing with it a little more lately. I’m learning that wrap tops seem to run pretty short though.

KENNETH COLE REACTION Miller Tote – retail: $99 (LT price: $79)

This was a very nice tote. It was simple, though, no extra pockets or anything. Better photo below!

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 4

Here’s to give you a better idea of the size.

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - all items 2

Now for my second March Tote!

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 5

CAMILLA Pave Bow Stud – retail: $24 (LT price: $18)

I thought these were too cute so I couldn’t resist trying them!

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 6

OCTAVIA & CO. Embroidered Pouch – retail: $42 (LT price: $32)

Usually embroidered things aren’t my taste, but something about this clutch caught my eye. I like it!

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 7

NOIR Cowl Neck Top with Trim Detail – retail: $58 (LT price:$42)

First of all, I am truly sorry about the mirror selfies. We just moved this past week and this Le Tote came on our last day at the apartment! I wanted to include it so I snapped these real quick!

I usually love cowl neck tops, but something about this shirt didn’t do it for me. It was comfortable, though.

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 9

MAK Polka Dot Cardigan – retail: $52 (LT price: $40)

I love the look of this cardigan! It fit very well, and was a much thicker material than I was expecting so it was really warm.

LE TOTE MARCH 2016 - items 12

JOAN VASS Draped Blouse – retail: $58 (LT price: $46)

I loved this purple draped blouse, but it came attached to its own cami, made with the same material. So it was purple all over, when I think I would have preferred a pop of white or something from my own cami. Having purple all over made it less interesting to me and maybe even a little older than I want to wear? The fit and draping was beautiful though.

Verdict: In March I went through 2 totes, and found a great pair of pants I really like. My very favorite part of this sub is that I can keep the items as long as I like and wear them before deciding if I want to buy them or send them back. Sometimes it takes feeling how a piece wears before realizing that it won’t actually work for you, or that it’s itchy, or stretches out easily, or something like that. I also feel like there is minimal pressure to buy items, since it is a rental service and not a styling service. I feel this aspect gives me permission to enjoy (and wear!) the clothes and not feel bad or awkward when I send everything back (even though I do often keep an item per tote sometimes).

Evaluating the value is a little tricky because I think the value of renting clothes and accessories is pretty subjective and different for everyone. I can see this being a great service for someone who uses a “capsule wardrobe” or someone who doesn’t like to wear the same thing twice or has a lot of social events to go to, or even women in the process of losing weight!

I stopped this service about two years ago as I received clothes that obviously had not been laundered prior to me receiving them. I let them know and they just said I would get an extra item in my next tote. To me that just did not make up for receiving the clothes smelling like cigarette smoke.

You look amazing, Haley! I just quit this box after keeping multiple things and never getting that extra item you (or my sister) talks about. When I asked them why, it was because they only do that for people grandfathered in. I unfortunately found no incentive to keep anything & felt disappointed I wasn’t getting a full featured service like y’all are.

Just a heads up for other newbies to this sub!

Britt?

Hi Guys! I just got an email, saying that I could give away a free month to 3 friends.. Does anyone want to try it?? I’m on hold with the service, because I’m just not sure it’s for me. But, I would’ve loved to try it, free! lol! I was getting 2 boxes a month. Let me know if anyone wants to use it..

April

I would love to try it if you haven’t used up all of your offers!

Reply ButtonReply

Dee

Hey Britt If that offer is still up I would like to try it. Thank you 🙂

Heather

I would be interested in giving it a try for free before committing money to it 🙂

Britt, do you know if there is an added clause to the try it free? After this review I’m extremely interested to try it out!

Reply ButtonReply

Britt ?

Alisha~ I don’t. Like, after the first free trial month, you’ll be automatically enrolled? I would think that’s how it works, but I’ve had numerous occasions, where I needed to reach out to Customer Service & they’ve been AWESOME! I went to cancel, after my first (discounted) month and they were very happy to do that. The only catch, is you have to call, prior to the renewal date.. But, I was off by a few days & they still were happy to do it. They said there was a 5 day grace period, so they refunded me the fee. I signed back up, only to put it back on “hold”. I just had surgery & my sizes are so funky, things were too confusing for me. So, that’s what I’m currently doing.. a 6 month hold. Every interaction with them, they’ve went out of their way, to do what I wanted & always add extra things for me! They’re for sure, “Customer is always right” orientated! I’ve been extremely impressed. Another option they have, that’s not advertised, is a “clothing only” subscription. I didn’t want the jewelry, so they just added 2 extra clothing items. I would get 5-6 in each box.. Sorry, that probably doesn’t help, but that’s been my experience! Let me know if you want that trial month. I’m unsure of the date it’s good until.
xo.

Lovely

On the website it says that the service is $59 per month. In this article it says $49. Is there a coupon you used to get that price?

I would try it if the monthly fee was applied to the items I want to keep, but to pay that on top of the (seems to me to be inflated) purchase prices would be too much. I’d rather go shopping and pay what I think an item is really worth.

You look SUPER skinny in those black pants! I have been looking at LT reviews for a while and just don’t see anything that I am in love with. I think I will stick with Golden Tote and Stitch Fix.

I liked LT but I I felt like turnaround time increased and the brands were something I see on clearance quite a bit. For $50, I can buy a whole outfit. It was a great subscription while I was going through my weight fluctuation but now, it seems like too much money to borrow used clothes.

Kristin

Turnaround is something I am not pleased with either, it usually takes a full week or longer from the time I ship til I get my next tote. I asked them to consider processing the next tote when they get notified the tote is on its way.

Reply ButtonReply

Britt ?

They may have fixed that. My experience was, as soon as I dropped it off at the post office, I’d get notified that my next one was on it’s way! Like, the next day.. Example: Drop at Post Office Monday afternoon~ get notification on Tuesday Morning, have new tote by Thursday.. Maybe I have you to thank for that!!?

Jill

I got a similar pair of knit dress pants from NYDJ and Nordstrom Rack and love them! (They’re also the only pair of NYDJ that I’ve tried on that has actually fit me properly). Nordstrom Rack also usually has some Max Studio stuff.

The coral top looks amazing on you and I love it with those jeans. Normally I wouldn’t spend that much on a top, but it looks so great that I think you should buy it!

Kristin

I am getting that same necklace in my new tote! As usual you look adorable and strangely some of the items you picked don’t look familiar, guess it is time to do some “shopping”.

Ally

TJ Maxx and Marshalls (at least in my area) usually have a ton of MAX STUDIO clothing!
