This month’s theme was royalty. On the other side of the information card was a list of items from the box.
Safemade Queen Bee – Value $5 (?)
A pretty standard catnip toy. I’ve seen this moving around the bedroom so someone is playing with it. Please note: there are a lot of items in this box that are not easy to find online, so you won’t be seeing a lot of links in this review.
Handmade Royal Ring by The Vegan Cat – Value $6 (?)
The cats were more interested in the rope/ring part than the “jewel” part. (Also note: I am not sure what I think about the name of this business. A cat should not be a vegan. Their digestive systems aren’t equipped to handle 100% plant-based foods and trying to feed only plants will lead to allergies, inflammatory conditions including IBD, malnutrition, etc. OK, off my soap box.) Also, sorry, couldn’t find this one online because the business name is generating all kinds of random Google hits.
Ocala Keep Calm Pillow – Value $5 (?)
This is pretty big, but a fun twist on a common saying. Sneaky occasionally plays with large toys like this.
Handmade Crown by LeKiwi – Value $6 (?)
Pretty simple but sturdy and filled with catnip. If you like getting handmade and unique cat toys, by the way, this is a good subscription for you. There are a lot of items from smaller producers. The value here is based off similar items in the LeKiwi Etsy shop.
Ocala Royal Mouse Slippers – Value $4 (?)
These are made from natural loofah/sponge. They have an interesting texture. Sneaky liked chewing on them. But I had to put them up on a shelf because I didn’t want to step on one in the night.
Safemade Fuzzy Fun Toys (2 ct) – Value $3.50 (?)
As expected, these were a hit with Monkey. He likes all ball toys, especially if they’re also noisy!
NaturVet Hairball Aid Supplement (3.1 oz) – Value $5.99
These are also supposed to be good for hairballs. We’ll see. Both Monkey and Madison are having hairball troubles these days. I am buying a lot of Cat Lax lately.
Madison inspects the ring.
Monkey goes after one of the fuzzy balls. Monkey has really been into hanging out on the TV stand lately.
Sneaky bites the ring.
Sneaky bites the slippers.
This isn’t the greatest picture of Sneaky but I like what Madison is doing in the background…
While I was taking photos, Sneaky investigated some of the box contents.
Mr. Kitty didn’t want to participate in the photo session. We have just been to the vet and the vet consulted with a specialist (a veterinary ophthalmologist) and we now have a plan of action for his eye troubles. It sounds like it will take a long time because of his immune suppression (due to his medications), but he should get better. Eventually Anyway, he’s a relatively old, chronically ill guy, so if he doesn’t want to participate, I won’t make him!
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $35 for the April KitNip Box. Most of the prices were complete guesses, though. If you are into toys that are not mass-produced, that maybe you can’t find elsewhere, this subscription is a good choice. As with any cat subscription, it really helps if you have multiple cats because there is a better choice that every toy will be popular with someone.
What did you think of the April KitNip Box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
