I like that The Honest Company uses packing that is recyclable and made of recycled content.

Here is my order summary showing everything in my Essentials Bundle, my add-ons, and my free gift.

Here is what I included in my Bundle:

honest_shampoo_bodywash1

honest_shampoo_bodywash2

Shampoo + Body Wash – Perfectly Gentle (Sweet Orange Vanilla) – Retail Value $9.95

Shampoo + Body Wash – Ultra Calming (Dreamy Lavender) – Retail Value $9.95

We have been using the Sweet Orange Vanilla Shampoo + Body Wash for a while now. Honest somewhat recently added the Dreamy Lavender scent so I decided to try it. My kids like both, but I think I slightly prefer the Sweet Orange Vanilla scent.

honest_bathroom_glass1

honest_bathroom_glass2

Bathroom Cleaner – Retail Value $5.95

Glass + Window Cleaner – Retail Value $5.95

The bathroom cleaner works great and smells good. This is the first time I have tried the Glass + Window Cleaner and I was impressed. It easily cleaned my windows and mirrors and didn’t leave streaks.

honest_toilet_balm1

Healing Balm – Retail Value $12.95

This is one of my favorite Honest Company products ever. You can use this on anything from diaper rash, to a cut, to skin abrasions, to your cat. Yes, I used this on my cat when she accidentally abraded a small part of her skin. However, this is certainly not the intended use and I recommend using common sense here.

The next 3 items are my add-ons this month. To get the most bang for your buck, include your most expensive items in the Bundle itself whenever possible since the cost there is set. Then you can choose up to 3 add-ons which will be at 25% off their regular price.

Toilet Cleaner – Retail Value $5.95

I can’t believe I am saying this, but this smells really fresh and actually makes this mundane chore … almost fun. Almost. It definitely helps.

honest_dishsoap1

Each dish soap bottle was individually wrapped in case it leaked it wouldn’t get on everything. One of the bottles leaked about a teaspoon during transit, but it was contained within the wrapping and didn’t get on anything else. The other bottle was completely fine.

honest_dishsoap3

Lemon Verbena Dish Soap – Retail Value $3.95

White Grapefruit Dish Soap – Retail Value $3.95

Both of these work well and I like both scents so I went for one of each. Variety is the spice of life.

Because my 3 add-ons totaled $13.85, I received an Add & Save Discount of 25% (-$3.46) off my total, so my add-ons cost me $10.39.

At the end of last month, The Honest Company offered a free gift of your choice for existing customers through April 29 or while supplies last. Love this! I wish more subscription boxes would do this. I opted to try one of their Aromatic Soy Candles.

honest_candle1

Orange Cypress Candle – Retail Value $19.95. The candle was securely packaged. This is the first time I have smelled this Orange Cypress scent and I like it. It smells very fresh and as if I am actually standing in a grove.

honest_candle2

Hand poured in the USA. Burns up to 50 hours.

honest_candle3

The candle is in a recycled and reusable glass tumbler.

honest_candle4

Showing ingredients (soy wax, natural essential oils, and unadulterated plant essences) and also what is not in there (synthetic fragrances).

Value: My Essentials Bundle cost $35.95 + $10.39 for optional add-ons + $2.92 tax. This is just shy of $50 for about $62 worth of items. This value will change based on the individual items you select for your bundle and/or any add-ons you pick. My overall value is a little bit lower than I often receive because I wanted to try some lower priced items, for example, the Glass + Window Cleaner, that were new to me this month. Plus this month, I also received the candle as a FREE loyalty gift. I did not count that into the total, but it retails for $19.95, so my total Retail Value here would be even higher this month.

Verdict: I feel good about using Honest Company products around my family. They work well and have pleasant scents/attractive packaging which helps make cleaning fun. I also appreciate the convenience of having everything automatically sent to my house which saves me time. So, for me, the value + all these other factors = WIN.

Have you tried the Honest Company Essentials Bundle? Do you have a favorite Honest product?

  1. I have a question,

in the box, I see that you showed us a picture of the receipt.
In the receipt, does it show how much you paid and your credit card information?
I’m only asking because I want to send a diaper & wipes bundle as a gift, but I have a $20 discount code that I can use if it’s not ordered as a gift. So I want to send it to my co-worker without her knowing how much I spent and without her knowing my cc number.

    • The amount you paid and your credit card number do not show on the packing slip which is included in the box and what I showed here. You will be good!

  2. Hi Chris I hope I’m making sense lol, is this like a sweet Orange or just real orange? Thanks to Liz who got me hooked on the Honest Co & I’m really thinking about trying the candle & the Orange hair Shampoo! Thanks!

    • Hi Kristin!

I think the shampoo is more like a sweet sort of creamy orange than a bright orange scent if that makes sense.

In the candle, the cypress scent is a bit stronger than the orange scent. I think the orange there is a little bit more of a bright orange than a sweet orange scent.

      Hope this helps!

  3. How’s the scent on the Orange Cypress candle? I have that room spray and the patchouli overpowers the other fragrances a bit much for my liking.

    • I am going to smell it again when I get home because I didn’t even recognize patchouli in there. (Although, yes, it is clearly on the label, ha!)

The strongest scent to me was sort of a eucalyptus (which I can easily recognize since I have several of these trees at my house) /woodsy smell and a hint of orange.

I haven’t tried the room spray so, unfortunately, I can’t tell you how they compare, but I definitely need to check into this since it sounds like something we might like as well.

  4. I’ve got a $51.01 subtotal and they are still trying to charge shipping. And they don’t have chat and I’m at work. This is aggravating. It even says I qualify for free shipping, and then:
    Subtotal $51.80
    Estimated Tax $3.23
    Shipping & Handling $5.95
    Add & Save Discount -$3.96
    Order Total $57.02

    • WAIT THEY DO HAVE CHAT!

      • Hope you got it worked out! 🙂

  5. When I placed my order yesterday, I was sad to see that the body scrub was no longer offered. I really liked that.

In the past I got the dish detergent but will not get it again. My dh is the ‘washer’ and he said it was ineffective and he doesn’t want to use it. Hey….if he’s washing, he can call that shot!

I, too, often get the healing balm. It is quite nice. Also get the toilet cleaner regularly as well as the laundry detergent. Have had issues with the laundry detergent leaking quite a few times, though. Haven’t gotten it in a few months so I hope they have corrected that issue for the order I just placed with the sales codes.

    • I only ever tried the lavender/vanilla body scrub (not sure if they had any other scents) and I remember liking it too.

I think the dish soap works fine unless something is really stuck on. Then I have to soak it a little.

I have not had the laundry detergent leak personally, but hopefully it won’t happen again for you. Fingers crossed! 🙂

  6. Happy to hear you love Honest too!

We really like the new pump on top of those bottles. It is especially handy if you are giving a baby or a little kid a bath since you can dispense it with one hand.

  7. I got a candle too! Love Honest Co ?

    • Which one did you get?

  8. I’ve been using Honest Co products for a few years now (my son thinks I’m obsessed with The Honest Co) and of course love them all. The healing balm is definitely a favorite. One of my friends bought it from the store and loves it too.
My son really likes the new bottles for shampoo and conditioner. I haven’t tried any of the other scents bc I think the original orange/vanilla smells so good and my son likes it so that’s what really counts I guess.

    • Sorry, I replied to you earlier. Or thought I did, but I guess I accidentally posted it as a regular comment…

We are going to try the Nourishing/Apricot Kiss scent next.
