Doki-Doki-April-2016-Info2

The info booklet has a lot of fun, colorful content. It reads right to left like a Japanese manga would.

Coroham Coron Pouch Ice-kun - $6.29

Coroham Coron is a series of super round hamster plushes. I received Ice-kun, who's aptly named since he's blue. This pouch is roomy enough to stash coins, a wireless mouse, earbuds, or some makeup!

Kotoritai Flashing Bird

I love this birdy! It feels similar to a rubber ducky and can also float on water. There are two metal sensors on the bottom so that if you hold the bird in your palm or place it in water, it will light up. I have a collection of rubber duckies in the apartment so this one will be the ugly ducking of the bunch (but by ugly I actually mean cutest).

Alpacasso Plush Shiro-chan - $8.99

Just when I thought alpaca plushies can't get any cuter, this Shiro-chan pops into my life with a strawberry polka-dotted bow tie. This one's going into my little sister's gift pile... after I parade it in front of envious friends.

Neko Atsume Sassy Fran Charm Strap - $6.69

I admit it: I love Neko Atsume. If you haven't tried this app game yet then you should. Give it some time and I think you'll fall in love with being a [virtual] cat collector. And hey, if you're a cat collector in real life, all the more reason to play Neko Atsume! I received the Sassy Fran strap, which is a rare cat in the game.

Hoppe Chan Charm

It seems Hoppe Chan is a series of adorable Hershey's Kiss-shaped gumdrops with eyes. The info booklet states that a new Hoppe Chan will be appearing every month in Doki Doki Crate, so I'm totally ready to start my collection.

Hoppe Chan x Doki Doki Crate Postcard Set

This is a set of really sweet postcards featuring Hoppe Chan of various colors. There sure are a lot of bright colors on each postcard!

Re-Ment Charmy Loom and Refill Pack

These are all the rage with my little sister's generation when I visited China last year. It's a DIY rubber band bracelet-making kit. It's kind of like a cross between knitting and animal rubber bands (remember when that was all the rage?). This starter kit is extra fancy because it includes charms as well. I will definitely be gifting this to my sister soon.

Verdict: Hamsters, alpacas, birds, and Neko Atsume cats. What more could I ask for from this month's Doki Doki? I absolutely loved everything in the box. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the Alpacasso plush with the spiffy bow tie. I couldn't find many of the prices online but I'm impressed to know that Doki Doki supplies authentic and licensed items. I received 8 items total, which makes it an average of $3.75 a piece.

I am considering getting this box. If I do, it will be my first crate. I love kawaii things. But I was wondering if this is really worth it to get? I saw that it includes about 5-7 items each month and was about a 30$ fee per month. I did some math, using pricing examples for similar items found in some stores here… One kawaii keychain from Hot Topic is anywhere from 8$ to 12.50$ and these boxes contain more than one item. A kawaii plush here would be 12.50$ to 15$. A figure would be 12$ to 17$, or 8$ if you’re lucky.

Adding all of that up at random for about 5-7 items tallies the price tag up to 50-70$ and this box is only 30$… 30$ is currently quite a chunk for what I get paid since I only have a small job, but when I look at it in the way that if I bought each individual item from a store here it would tally up to more, I think it would be better to get the box. But getting the box risks getting a lot of things I may not like because each month is random…

I think you got me hooked on Neko Atsume last month (?) it took some time but I love it now and play often! Cross marketing is so smart! I love this box & will sub soon.

After their bootleg fiasco, I unsubscribed until they can promise authentic items in their boxes. I am happy to report that it seems that the items we received in April are authentic. The plush, coroham pouch, and flashing bird are all under the AMUSE brand (simular to Sanrio or San-X). There is a large community of those who collect Alpacasso plushies and are concerned with counterfeits. I don’t collect them myself, but seeing how they look and feel make me want to. I love the Kid Alpacasso that you got!
