CYPRESS & 5TH APRIL 2016 - ITEMS 1

Skies Are Blue Layered Tank – value: $38?

Esley Pleated Striped Skirt – value: $50?

I’m estimating my prices here based off what found similar items to sell for, FYI. I love these pieces. I especially love the tank. The tank looks like it’d be reversible and able to be worn inside-out to have all stripes, but the seams and tag don’t allow that. Maybe under a cardigan or jacket, though! Mixing prints isn’t generally my comfort zone, so I’m really happy to have this tank to do it for me! I also like how thick and comfortable the knit material is. (I’m also glad to get a brand I recognize.)

The skirt is really nice. It’s a thick polyester and feels very well made. It fits well at my natural waist and hits my knees. I like it a lot, and I don’t have anything similar already!

CYPRESS & 5TH APRIL 2016 - ITEMS 2

Glitzy Tassle Necklace – value: $25?

Here’s the necklace they sent! I don’t have a brand since the only tag on it was from Cypress & 5th. I think this is super colorful and funky and I kind of love it, even though it’s way out of my comfort zone! I don’t own anything like this and I’m not sure I know how to wear this but I like it so much I kind of want to try this summer.

CYPRESS & 5TH APRIL 2016 - items 3

Here’s the outfit all together. (Shoes from ShoeDazzle.)  Sorry for the kind of weird lighting here – I’m figuring things out in my new house!  They recommended to tuck the top into the skirt, or pair it with leggings. Like I said, mixing prints isn’t usually my thing but I really dig this look! It makes me feel fashion-forward.

However, I did try some alternative pairings for you…

CYPRESS & 5TH APRIL 2016 - items 4

Here’s the tank with just some jeans. Very comfortable – I’d feel great running errands in this! I’m loving some sleeveless-but-not-spaghetti-strap tops for this season (if it ever gets warm enough here in MI… I’m sadly watching the snow cover my deck as I write this).

CYPRESS & 5TH APRIL 2016 - items 6

And here’s the skirt, paired with Elizabeth & Clarke’s The Isabella top.

The Verdict: I love the items Cypress & 5th sent me! They make me feel chic and stylish, and I love that they still feel like very wearable pieces to me. As far as value goes, I can’t find the exact pieces for sale so my estimate adds up to just over $100, which I’m happy with. You can also think about it as $24.93 per item (from the $74.95 cost of the box), which I am still pretty happy with, too.

That top is really cute! And I wanna love the skirt but it’s a big too long for my taste. I do like that you see the pieces before they send them though!

This outfit looks super cute on you! I’m terrible at mixing prints also so it’s nice that it was done for you.

This isn’t a new company. I don’t subscribe anymore, but I did well over a year ago (maybe 2?)

I was just about to comment the same thing! I bought a grab bag from them over a year ago. Wasn’t really impressed enough to subscribe, but I do like the outfit here.

Hi Ricki

We have been working on being more fashion friendly all around. Please remember that if you have a profile, your dressing room each month is free of charge to view and there is never a commitment to buy.

Annie, Ricki, You’re right! I’m sorry – that’s a copy + paste fail on my part. Liz reviewed them back when they WERE new, and I copied the intro from back then. Sorry about that!

As someone from Hawaii, I hate when companies add to the shipping cost for us. They are shipping USPS which doesn’t have a price difference for sending to HI or AK. Priority flat rate is the same everywhere, and the -only- difference is that to Hawaii Priority 2-day becomes Priority 3-day. There just isn’t a reason for it other than that they want to make more money. This might be something I’d be interested in, but personally the extra cost of shipping turns me off completely.

I sympathize with you about suffering the added shipping costs, but you are wrong about USPS rates.

USPS definitely does have higher pricing for sending to HI and AK for priority mail UNLESS you use the flat rate boxes (small/med/large), which subscription companies almost never do. Cypress & 5th just sends their boxes by normal Priority mail in their own packaging. You can use the calculator on the USPS website and zipcodes for Atlanta (where they ship from) and Hawaii and other US states to see that the 2/3-Day Priority shipping rates do fluctuate depending on which zone the parcel is traveling to. For example, it would cost about $5 more to send a 2-pound package via Priority mail to Honolulu than it would to Indianapolis. C&5th might be getting the small business/commercial base discount with USPS, but even then there is still a price difference between zones when shipping Priority.

So take heart that all these companies aren’t screwing you over for no reason. But depending on the weight of the package and where they are shipping from, maybe that added fee should be more like $5 and less like $9.95!

Hi Aussieten,

There is a increase in charge shipping to Alaska and Hawaii but we will look into rates again to see if we can help elevate the cost like Sarah suggested.

Actually, I did double check. I used a Seattle zip code to check on prices from Seattle to Seattle, Seattle to Phoenix, Seattle to Boston, and Seattle to Kamuela HI for a 2 pound package.

Seattle to Seattle: $6.80
Seattle to Boston: $12.40
Seattle to Kamuela: $12.40
Seattle to Phoenix: $10.25

from Georgia,
to Phoenix: $11.35
Boston: $9.45
Kamuela: $12.40
Seattle: $12.40

So yes, there is a slight range, and while Hawaii is at the top of the range, it is never alone. There are continental states -with the same rates-

I am very familiar with USPS and shipping to Hawaii. I have been dealing with it for years, so yes, they do actually screw us over. Yes, there may be a difference between prices from GA to Indianapolis, but there is not a shipping difference between Hawaii and, say, Seattle, so I fail to see your point.

I do a lot of mixed patterns. I think the mix here looks like a dress, not two pieces, so it is perfect!

What sizes do they carry? I don’t want to fill out a profile & give them my e-mail just to figure out if they have anything that fits me.

Sara

Their site says sizes 2/S-12/L.

I’m really surprised by how much I like the outfit they sent you. When I saw the individual pictures all I could think was “what the heck are they thinking!?!” But once you put it together it is a gorgeous outfit!

Hi Lacey

Not all the tops will match with all bottoms but we do try our best to put pieces together. Our instagram has a much better showing of how we pair our pieces together.

If you eve have any questions about your dressing room please email us [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help you select an outfit.

I agree, and the necklace actually complements the outfit nicely 🙂
