Clean Bar Box Subscription Box Review – April 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Clean Bar Box is a subscription box that delivers you handmade artisan soaps that are free from preservatives, animal products, petroleum derivatives, parabens, and sodium lauryl sulfate.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Clean Bar Box

The Cost: $16.99 (monthly; four 2.5 ounce bars), $21.99 (monthly; two 5 ounce bars and two 2.5 ounce bars), $21.99 (every other month; two 5 ounce bars and two 2.5 ounce bars); $16.99 (every other month; four 2.5 ounce bars).  Save with 6- and 12-month subscriptions.

COUPON: Save $3 off your first box with code FIRSTBOX OR  save 15% off all three-month subscriptions with code CLEAN15.

The Products: Four new scents of seasonally-inspired soap every month.  All ingredients are sourced in the USA and handmade in Indiana.

This is a review of the large box, which you can purchase on a monthly or every other month basis.   I love the eco-friendly packaging inside!

Ships to: US (free).

Note: Lots of other countries are available in the drop-down list in the sign-up window.  I can’t tell how to calculate shipping for those countries, though.  I’d suggest e-mailing them if you are interested and live outside the US.

Each box includes an information sheet with the month’s theme and descriptions of the included scents.  Ingredients are also listed on the letter.

Monkey decided to help me photograph this box.  He is interested in EVERY box, not just cat subscriptions.

Petal Dance Soap – Value $7.50

I like when soaps have flower petals in them.  It’s just a fun extra touch.  And the rosebush in my front yard is blooming right now so this is definitely timely.  Good especially if you like florals.

Eucalyptus Aloe Soap – Value $7.50

The little inclusions here are peppermint leaves.  This is an invigorating soap but also I am saving it for when I have clogged sinuses as I think it will be especially helpful then.

Note: This month’s bars are not available in the Clean Bar Box shop at the moment, so I’m using values based on previous months.

Spring Rain Scrub – Value $3.75

There is usually a scrub in Clean Bar Box.  This time it’s the Spring Rain soap and the exfoliator is sea salt.  (This is the green bar, obviously.)  This has a nice, fresh scent.

Red Apple Soap – Value $3.75

I do like the color here a lot.  The scent isn’t overly strong but is pleasant and fruity.  Apple doesn’t really say “spring” to me but that’s OK because I like the soap!

Verdict:  I estimated a value of about $22.50 for the April Clean Bar Box.  This is a subscription where you always know what to expect in terms of value.  I think they do a really good job at choosing seasonal scents and I also like the soap; this subscription has got me using a lot more bar soap than I used to!  Also, for what it’s worth, I have somewhat sensitive skin and some other soap recently gave me a rash.  But the Clean Bar Box soaps have never caused me any issues at all.

I also like that you can get smaller soaps in the small box or choose every other month delivery.  Either would be a good option for a small household that doesn’t use quite as much soap.

What did you think of the April Clean Bar Box?  Do you get any soap subscriptions?

  1. The cats and Nyx need their own blog! I’d totally read that every day ???

  2. Lol monkey was just trying to help us with the size. Kinda like putting a coin next to small items…the large bar soap is cat face sized…too cute

  3. Go Monkey! Cats are masters of the photo bomb. Just one of their many skills as they are all quick to tell you. The soap with the petals looks very nice.

    • Yes! And always with the rationalization “I need to help you.” 🙂
