Cat Claws Club is a bimonthly subscription box for cats filled with lots of toys, treats, and other surprises.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Cat Claws Club

The Cost: $33.90 a month ($24.95 subscription price + $8.95 shipping)

The Products: Lots of cat items, mostly toys, including some exclusive and/or new items.

Good to know: Although PayPal checkout shows as an option for this subscription, you can’t actually pay for the subscription with PayPal.  I checked out that way the first time and they contacted me, processed a PayPal refund, and I had to resubscribe with a credit card number.

Ships to: US ($8.95)

Included was a brochure with more information about the products.

catclawsclub-april-2016-catdancer

Cat Dancer – Value $4.95

I used to have a couple of these but I couldn’t find them after I moved last summer.  So cheap and yet the cats love it.

Planet Pleasures Catnip Filled Square – Value $0.50

Sneaky liked this a lot.  This company also makes a lot of bird toys (they’re not so different from the cat toys except the cat toys are filled with catnip and the bird toys aren’t).  I could only find this via an eBay listing that was probably meant for resellers so the actual retail value may be higher.

catclawsclub-april-2016-chickadee

Imperial Cat Cat ’n Around Chickadee Refillable Catnip Toy – Value $6.98

This came with a fairly large packet of catnip.  I’m not so sure my cats like the refillable toys (some of the toys are kind of large) although I do see the appeal of the concept.  As far as I can tell, the catnip was fairly fresh.

catclawsclub-april-2016-scratcher

Imperial Cat Scratch ‘n Shapes Fish – Value $13.95

Scratchers are always a good inclusion in a cat box.  This one was double sided so it should last longer, although there was not a cardboard bottom or tray for it, so if you put catnip on it, the catnip fell right through to the floor.

No, Monkey, I have to take pictures!

catclawsclub-april-2016-wobbler

Imperial Cat Cat ‘n Around Wild Wobbler – Value $3.95

Monkey liked this, a lot.  And after a week, it still has all its feathers.  Unbelievable!

Temptations (chicken flavor, 0.42 oz) – Value $0.47

I used to buy these all the time before Mr. Kitty was diagnosed with IBD.  I think I can arrange to get them to the other three cats without Mr. Kitty knowing (since they can have Temptation but Mr. Kitty can’t).  They will be popular.

Gratuitous cat picture alert…

Madison WITHOUT laser eyes.

Monkey was fascinated with the wobbler.

Any elevated platform, even if it is just half an inch, is an immediate magnet for Monkey.  So of course he loved this.

Monkey investigates the wobbler further.  Sneaky is oblivious.

This toy was hard to photograph.  You’d almost have a great shot and then the toy would move when you went to press the button on the camera.

Even Mr. Kitty showed interest in a toy for once!

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $30 for the April Cat Claws Club.  That is a little lower than the cost of the box plus shipping, but a lot better than some of the other cat subscriptions I’ve reviewed lately.  If you are looking for something that comes a little less frequently than every month, particularly something with more toys and fewer treats, this could be a good choice.  The items were generally hits with my cats, which is also very nice.

I always love pictures of your kitties!

I really like that this one is bi-monthly. Last cat sub box I had was monthly and it was just too much.

Haha, try reviewing 6 or 7 cat subscriptions a month…

Whoa, nostalgia. Cat Claws has been in business FOREVER. My family has had cats since I was 6 I believe, and my dad got on their mailing list through a buddy of his – pre-Internet, folks! – and I waited every month for their brochure. That cat logo hasn’t changed in 25 years! Every cat I’ve ever had has lost it over their cat dancer toy. My new cat is blind so he needs something that makes more noise but I think I might subscribe just to support them. Looks like there’s noisy toys in there too. As always thank you for the kitty pictures.

I love the idea of a kitty sub, but man none of these seem worth the cost. $35 is a lot of money and not a lot of value. Despite that, I love seeing the reviews because I love the kitties!

I’m not in the market for any cat-related sub boxes but pictures of your wonderful kitties make these my favorite MSA reviews. Keep up the good work, Ragan. It is appreciated!

Still don’t break even with the cost, AND they reneged on a promised (and popular) payment method.

But the kitty pictures are always appreciated! As long as MSA pays for this subscription, the rest of us don’t have to. 🙂

Actually if you read the fine print it says you can’t pay for subs with PayPal on their site. I just missed that part the first time around. (They also sell merchandise and PayPal is allowed for non-recurring transactions.)
