There isn’t a traditional information card with this box. This month the challenge is to make a necklace using the little opalescent heart beads (see below).
A note on prices: Items like this can come from a variety of different suppliers at many price points depending on how many you buy, etc. Even different colors of the same size and shape of glass beads are priced differently due to materials needed to make the colors! So I have opted not to provide prices in this review.
Fairy Charms (2)
I used one of these in my project. Didn’t realize until later it wasn’t the same color as the rest of the necklace but chalk that up to the poor lighting in my living room…
Unicorn Charms (3)
I think my nieces (ages 4 and 5 right now) would like these. I will make them some bracelets or necklaces and incorporate these. Gotta make them matching so neither gets jealous…
Butterfly Links (5)
I am thinking bracelet for these. I have small wrists so if I put an eyepin with a bead or two between these, that will cover my whole wrist – and it should work up quickly!
Bronze (?) Centerpiece
This was an easy choice to use in my project. There are a lot of things you could do with it, but I kept it simple.
Turquoise AB Faceted Rounds
This is a good color if you have my wardrobe – it appears a lot. So I am going to use these in several pieces.
Clear Glass Rounds
These are good, basic beads that can be used in a lot of projects.
Lampworked Mushrooms (5)
These are cute. They seem like something a kid would love, so I am thinking of ways to use them in jewelry for my nieces, as well.
Purple Crystals (3)
One of these is slightly larger than the other two. I’m not sure if that was intentional or not, but it has me thinking of making earrings and a necklace.
Shell (?) Stars (15)
I don’t actually know what material these are made of. They are super lightweight but they have some variation which suggests a natural material (as opposed to plastic).
Painted (?) Floral Glass Rounds (2)
These are very pretty. I wish they hadn’t turned out so blurry in the photo but my camera is really not optimized for photographing tiny things.
Opalescent Glass Rounds (5)
These might go well with the butterflies in a bracelet. Or with the hearts since they have the same finish.
Opalescent Glass Hearts (14 or 15)
I am not sure of the number here since I may have dropped one…anyway, the challenge this month was to use these in some jewelry and I did (see below)!
And here is my final project. I kept it simple. I figured it was better to actually make *something* than to plan for three weeks and not finish. (Also the chain I ordered was MUCH smaller than anticipated, making it a pain to work with.) This is actually quite a long necklace but I am not showing most of the chain.
Verdict: I did not calculate a value for this box, as explained above in my note about prices. I am sure that if you are buying wholesale, you could get a better deal. But I don’t really want an entire pound of the same color of fire-polished beads, you know? I’m happier getting smaller quantities that I might actually have hope of using one day. And the theme was a lot of fun.
Please note that no directions are given and you have to supply your own needles, stringing materials, tools, and findings.
