This box also included a generic thank you note and an item packing list.

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 1

Medium 2014 Outlet Bag in Silver – value: $7?

I like this bag much better than the one in the last mystery box because you can actually fit more in it and it’s big enough to hold Bare Minerals brushes!

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 2

Eyeshadow in Celestine – .02 oz (full size), value: $15

Eyeshadow in True Gold –.02 oz (full size),

Eyeshadow in Queen Phyllis - .02 oz (full size),

FYI - I can’t find any of these eyeshadow shades currently for sale, so it looks like these may be discontinued colors. However I really like these! Detailed notes about the colors of each below.

All-Over Face Color in Faux Tan - .02 oz (sample), value: $14?

I grouped this with the eyeshadow because at first that’s what I thought it was but then I realized it’s an all-over face color sample! The all-over face colors from Bare minerals are all neutrals/browns, and are able to be used as “all-over” because they’re made to be versatile; you can use them as an eyeshadow, bronzer, or blush.

Mineral Blush in Vintage Peach – .85 g (Full Size!), value: $20

This is my favorite item/new discovery in this box! It’s a beautiful, shimmery peach color. Close up pics below!

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 3

This is the blush from above. It’s a gorgeous color for my skin tone. The pigmentation packs a punch, too, so you know a little will go a long way, and that this container will last a while!

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 4

Here’s a better shot of the colors of the eyeshadows and the all-over face color. All of these powders also have great pigmentation!

Queen Phyllis is on the left and is a shimmery, white-gold shade. This is a beautiful color!

True Gold is second to the left and is what it sounds like – gold! Lots of shimmer and very pretty.

Celestine is second from the right, and is a shimmery pewter-esque shade. I love this because it’s a cooler tone than the other 2 shadows but is also versatile.

The Faux Tan all-over face color is all the way on the right. Like I said, this is very pigmented so you only need a little on your brush (make sure to tap off excess powder before applying if you’re using as a bronzer or blush!) and use a light hand. You can always add more!

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 5

Jack of All Trades Tinted Lip Balm, For Keeps – .14 oz (full size!), value: $12

This lip balm is great! I love a good tinted balm because it’s so easy to just throw on and go and you don’t really need a mirror either. I’m not sure if this is a newish item for Bare Minerals or not – I never saw these when I worked at Sephora a year or two ago! I’m a fan.

Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Spark Plug - .11 oz (sample), value: $13.2

This lip gloss must have been a leftover from last year’s birthday gift for FAB members (Bare Minerals’ rewards program). I love this shade – I think I’ve even owned it previously! It’s a very universally flattering color, and very easy to wear. I also want to note that this is a very good sized lip gloss – it’s .11 oz and the full size is .15.

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 6

Here’s a swatch of the Jack of All Trades lip balm (top) and the Spark Plug lip gloss (bottom).

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 7

Buxom Hold the Line Waterproof Eyeliner in Knock Twice – full size, value: $17

This eyeliner is a metallic copper – subtle and great for summer. The formula is smooth and has nice color pay off! When I used this I could do it with just one hand to line my upper lid.

Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara - .18 oz (sample), value: $8.76

I love this mascara. I’ve tried it before. I don’t get a whole lot of volume from it, though – definitely definition. And zero clumps! The wand has a spiral of bristles that really helps you get separation if you twist it slightly as you apply. I could have sworn I grabbed a photo of the wand head but I can’t find it now! However, you can see it if you click the link for the item.

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 8

Full Tapered Shadow Brush – value: $16

This is a pretty rose-gold metal version of Bare Minerals’ full tapered shadow brush. So pretty, and it works very well.

Limited Edition Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm in Crimson Pop – value: $16

This is a great colored lip balm! The color is bright but sheer, and long lasting! Plus the formula is very hydrating.

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 9

On top here is what the balm looks like out of the box. The bottom photo is a swatch of the balm and the buxom eyeliner.

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 10

Bare Minerals also threw in a Skincare Sampler for Normal/Combination Skin. I like their skincare, so I’m happy to have this sample trio.

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - items 11

Here’s a full makeup look using these products! I used the eyeshadows, blush, mascara, eyeliner, all-over face color (as a bronzer), and the Spark Plug lip gloss! (And also here’s my son, who I had to hold to get this photo because he is teething and was sad.)

I love this look! I felt like a golden, peachy princess. The colors were warmer than I usually wear, but I look forward to rocking it often in summer!

Close up below…

BARE MINERALS MYSTERY BOX APRIL 2016 - ITEMS 12

The eyeliner is hard to see because it’s a shimmery copper on the warm, golden eyeshadow, but in person you can tell a little better.

The Verdict: This Bare Minerals Mystery Box has an estimated value at about $177, maybe even just a bit higher. I’m really happy with the value, sizes, and products! Even the couple things that are sample sized have a lot of uses to get out of them. I love this brand and trust that it has good quality products. Even though some of these items are being cycled out/discontinued, I don’t doubt that they’re still in perfectly find condition to use. I also am really happy that they set me up to try a new complete look!

What do you think about this Bare Minerals Mystery box?

Is anybody looking to get rid of the whole box? Let me know!

This was my first Bare Minerals Mystery Box and I am SO happy with it! I think it’s such an affordable way to refresh my makeup collection, and I’m so pleased with the items. The only one I’m iffy on is the Spark Plug lipcolor because I’m not fan of that shade, and I was a teeny disappointed by the loose powder eye colors all being kind of in the same neutral, brownish family… But that’s so silly, because the fact they are so wearable is exactly why I know I’ll use them way more than if they sent, say, bright blue or something!

I use their loose powder eye color in “java” to fill in my eyebrows every day, so I added on a jar to my order to hit the $50 and get the two extra items, which made this box feel even MORE amazing.

I already am looking forward to the next time they do a Mystery Box! 🙂

Looking good. Bare Minerals is my favorite make up. All powder products are natural and can be slept in and not affect the condition of your skin.

That’s a great box, and you do a terrific review too! I was actually the National Boutuque Retail Sales Trainer for Bare Escentuals for a few years. those 3 eye shadows are oldies but goodies. 3 of the best selling shades ever! Like 6-7 years ago. The great thing about minerals is that they actually do NOT ever expire in that powder form because there’s nothing in there that can go bad or expire. Everyone should get this box! Try the true gold or queen Phyllis wet too, it’s a great night look! Come to me for any Bare Minerals tips or questions girls I’m always happy to share. I was also the director of sales and education for PUR Minerals…

I’m not a fan of Bare Minerals but after seeing it on you… Wow! You’re so beautiful. and i will give some of their products a try!

Pamela, thank you! I forgot to mention in my verdict that I usually hate dealing with the hassle of loose powders. I really do, and find them messy. And that’s a lot of what Bare Minerals offers! However I love this blush (and it has a twist cap inside to keep it from getting messy) and the shadows so much I really think I’ll keep and use them!

Haley, I dislike loose pigments too. I have discovered pressing pigments in pans and putting them in a Z Palette. It’s super easy and now I have the most beautiful palette of shadows! It doesn’t change the color at all. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube. But warning–I first did it using only alcohol. Once they dried, they all fell apart. I learned that for pure mineral pigment, you need a binder (such as jojoba oil) as well as the alcohol. You can press shadows, blushes and face powders. The Z palettes and pans are cheap on Amazon.

Queen Phyllis is my favorite eyeshadow, wear it almost everyday. Good eye base and a perfect neutral.

Your skin is FLAWLESS! What do you use?!

Reply ButtonReply

Haley Faye

Casey, thank you! My skin care routine has been less than regular since having my son, but there are 3 things I can’t live without, and they’re simple! I always take my makeup off before bed – to help make this easy, I keep make up remover cloths by my bed. I also keep moisturizers all over because I loooove moisturizing, and it’s one of the best things you can do for your skin. I moisturize after taking off my makeup and in the morning. I also keep an exfoliator in my shower and use it every other day ish. (I will admit, as a mom of a 7 month old I don’t usually get a shower every other day.) I don’t stick to one brand necessarily; I try to work through all the samples u get from subscription boxes! Hope that helps! =]

Casey

It does help thank you for responding! I have an 18 month old and I still don’t get to shower as much as I would like! Lol. I will be using your tips for sure!
