Rent the Runway has begun their new Unlimited subscription! (I believe there still is a waitlist, but they recently opened it up). It’s a designer rental service – think Le Tote, but higher-end. You pay a monthly fee and as long as you’re subscribed you can rent up to three items of designer clothing and accessories, and can swap out any of or all three items at a time for new ones. However many items you send back is how many new items you will be sent next. There is no “keeping items to buy them,” like Le Tote does; if you want to buy an item, you checkout online and get 30% off. (Rent the Runway takes care of dry cleaning.)
The items come in a zip-up, fold-out garment bag on hangers, which are yours to keep. Also inside, in a zipper pocket, is your return shipping label and a little plastic lock to loop into the zippers when you ship things back.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Trina Turk Arlo Top – Retail: $298 ($150 a la carte rental)
This top is so glam! I like it a lot, I just wish it was a little bit longer.
Equipment Crystal Sweater – retail: $398 ($60 a la carte rental)
The quality of this sweater really impresses me. I didn’t feel like any of the sequins were going to fall off, the sequins went around front and back, and the lining was really super soft (you don’t feel scratched by the sequins at all). It was really comfortable and fit great!
10 CROSBY DEREK LAM Navy Moto Jacket – retail: $1,295 ($175 a la carte rental)
We got a lot of snow this past month so I was really happy to have this! It fit really well and as very good quality. It definitely kept me warm. The fur collar is detachable too (but it’s so much warmer on!).
Here’s a close up of some details of the coat.
Now for my second delivery this month!
Free People Bold Geo Sweater Coat – retail: $298 ($65 a la carte rental)
I should have sized down in this coat – it’s really thick, comfortable, and warm, but it because it was a smidge too big it kind of feels like it’s falling off my shoulders a little bit. The length was great and very warm!
Equipment Floral Sleeveless Button Down – retail: $228 ($40 a la carte rental)
I adore this top. It’s so pretty, light, Spring-y, and I love the pattern. The white wasn’t see-through, either, which I’m really glad about. This is one of my favorite things I’ve ever ordered from RTR.
Bailey 44 Mia Dress – retail: $198 ($55 a la carte rental)
Love this dress! It fits great even though it didn’t have a zipper – it was a pull-on dress! The material is really thick and I think it was a really flattering look. Again, one of my favorite items from RTR so far!
Verdict: I’m really enjoyed this month’s Rent the Runway deliveries! It’s expensive, but you have to keep in mind the value you’re getting from it – I think, practically, this is a subscription perfect for people who either already spend a lot on designer clothes each month, and/or have a lot of black tie/formal events to attend, or like to have an ever-changing wardrobe an never wear the same thing twice!
What do you think about Rent the Runway? What kinds of items do you think I should rent next?
