Plum Deluxe Tea of the Month Club is a monthly tea subscription. Every month they send you hand-blended teas made from certified organic and fair trade ingredients. They have no artificial chemicals or added sweeteners.

There are two subscription plans: one tea or two teas per month. One tea costs $10 per month and includes a 1 ounce blend (about 15-20 cups) and a sample tea blend enough for 1-2 cups. Two teas cost $16 per month and includes two 1 ounce blends and the sample blend. There are also options for caffeine-free or herbal tea subscriptions for the $10 plan.

Good to know: Plum Deluxe charges quarterly, so you pay for three months' subscription up front. The subscription not only includes tea shipments but also a private Facebook community, recipes, quarterly gift exchanges and tea swaps, free or discount tickets to Plum Deluxe affiliated events, free shipping on all purchases, and other club-only discounts.

This review is for the two teas per month plan.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post  to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Spring Hickory Oolong Tea - $7

Each month Plum Deluxe offers a main themed tea that is made for subscription members and isn't available for sale anywhere else. This month was the Spring Hickory oolong tea. It is a blend of oolong, orange peel, cinnamon, and pecan essence.

The first thing that I noticed was its delicious fragrance. It's so creamy and sweet, like candy! I need a fragrance sachet with this scent. The tea is fruity and has a sweet undertone. Even my boyfriend commented on how great it smelled and tasted.

Mindful Morning Black Tea - $7

Mindful Morning is an earl grey blend that "blends well with quiet moments & good conversation." This is made from black tea, orange peels, blue cornflowers, bergamot oil, and vanilla essence. Just like the Spring Hickory Oolong, it smells divine. It tastes like traditional black tea but with a little silkier and sweeter aftertaste.

Chocolate Mint Dessert Tea sample

Chocolate Mint Dessert Tea is a blend of rooibos, ginger, cardamom, dark chocolate bits, cocoa nibs, and peppermint. There was enough for two cups in here. The tea is a little minty, and I can taste just a hint of chocolate. Here I'm showing off Mr. Tea steeping a teaspoonful for me. His pant holes were a bit too big to hold in the leaves. Typically I don't mind eating loose tea leaves but there were hard nibs in there too, so that gave it some interesting texture.

Verdict: I really enjoyed my first Plum Deluxe Tea of the Month Club! I'm only a casual drinker but I enjoy trying new flavors. My favorite this month is the Spring Hickory Oolong, I just loved the rich fragrance and undertone. These organic and fair trade teas are a good price too. The value is close to the cost of subscription at around $14. That's the same value as purchasing separately from their shop, which sells teas at $7/ounce. If you're a tea fan, subscribing to the Tea of the Month Club gets you exclusive blends, free shipping on purchases, and other benefits, so I'd consider the extra $2 from the subscription as a premium for all these features.

After subbing to many boxes for a couple of years and acquiring a backlog of products including tea, this box and Yuzen are the two I will keep as I work though my stash of stuff. I have loved every tea that I have received from them. They are all made with natural and simple ingredients often including love and gratitude. They truly smell wonderful in my mailbox and in my cup :). The company itself is also well worth supporting. Great customer service and lots of interesting and mindful content on their website and Facebook page.

Plum Deluxe has some nice a la carte selections on the website – maybe try a couple of teas that pique your interest to see what you think.

Thanks for the heads up! I love tea so a tea sub would be perfect if I didn’t already have tons of tea in my pantry lol.
