The box included an information card with a list of items and a monthly message.
Pizza Pups Tasty Hearts – Value $6 (?)
The value here is really a guess because this is a seasonal item that is no longer available on the Pizza Pups website. Pizza Pups is a small Rhode Island based business that makes all its treats in small batches from locally-sourced organic ingredients.
Note: PetPack sent us a message that some subscribers reported seeing mold on this treat. Because it does not contain preservatives, they believe some moisture exposure is responsible. They reached out to all regular subscribers with the information and offering a replacement treat to those affected.
Natural Dog Company Skin Soother Healing Balm (0.25 oz) – Value $2.50
This healing balm is a topical treatment for cuts, rashes, etc., with herbal extracts that are naturally antimicrobial. Nyx doesn’t have any sores right now but I am definitely keeping track of this because she is on several prescriptions that, unfortunately, compromise her immune system and reduce her ability to heal.
Spunky Pup Squeaky Gems – Value $7.99
Nyx loved this. And she actually got to play with it TWICE (unheard of, usually it’s just one and done) before chewing a piece off.
ScatterBrained Bandana – Value $10
ScatterBrained is an Etsy shop with a lot of custom collars and related items. This is a bandana you slip on over your dog’s collar which is probably safer than tying one around the neck, anyway. It’s a bit too small to fit over Nyx’s collar (which is really thick because Rottweilers have big necks). But it should work for a lot of dogs.
PetPack Bandana – Value $1
This is a screen printed bandana with the PetPack logo. You can buy these in bulk from a lot of places and put whatever you want on there. It’s a little strange to put two bandanas in one dog box, but I kind of just think of this as a little extra.
Also included was a 30% off coupon for subscribers to pick up more items from your box.
And a dog box review wouldn’t be complete without a derpy picture of Nyx…
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $27.50 for the February 2016 PetPack for dogs. That’s somewhat less than the $34 you pay (with shipping) for a month-to-month. However, if you have the six-month customizable subscription and use a coupon code, it’s a decent deal. Nyx loved the toy and I’ve got high hopes for the healing balm.
What do you think of the February 2016 PetPack? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
