The box included an information card with a list of items and a monthly message.

petpackcat-february-2016-toy

Yeowww Catnip Hearrrt Attack Toy – Value $7.99

We got one of these in another box this month with a different saying.  At the time, the cats weren’t too interested.  But they have since decided they love that one and there are little bits of red fur all over the bathroom carpet.  This one, they liked pretty much instantly.

Nutri Vet Breath Fresh Dental Rinse for Cats (4 fl oz) – Value $2.83

Mr. Kitty is sitting in my lap as I write this review and I really wish I could use this rinse on him because he has stinky breath.  (It is not safe for him to go under anesthesia for a dental cleaning due to his health condition and medications.)  This is a water additive since obviously you are not going to get your cat to use mouthwash…

petpackcat-february-2016-treats

Good Kat Bakery Chicken Cheesy Kat Love (2 oz) – Value $4 (?)

There was a web address on the back of the package and that is what I linked to, although I couldn’t find this specific item in their shop.  These are mostly wheat-based, but I try to avoid giving any grains to my cats if I can help it since cats are obligate carnivores.

Wellness Trufood CocoChia Bakes in Salmon, Coconut Oil, and Spinach (3 oz) – Value $3.21

We got another flavor of these in a different cat box maybe a month ago.  The cats had about the same reaction to this flavor – they thought it was OK but not great.  My cats tend to like soft and semi-soft treats best, though, and these are hard.

petpackcat-february-2016-collar

Sweet Pickles Designs Cat Bowtie – Value $7

This fits over a cat collar.  It’s a cute idea, but my cats don’t wear collars (they are 100% indoor cats) so I couldn’t take any photos of one of them wearing this.

ScatterBrained Collar Attaching Bandana – Value $8 (?)

We got a larger version of this in the PetPack dog box this month.  Unfortunately, as with the bowtie, I don’t have a cat collar to put this on for a demo.

petpackcat-february-2016-coupon

Also included was a 30% off coupon for subscribers to use in the PetPack shop.

And now for the gratuitous cat photos…

petpackcat-february-2016-monkey

Monkey “helping” me open the box.

petpackcat-february-2016-fight

Sneaky wanted to “help” too.  This led to a little hissing and slapping match between Monkey and Sneaky.

petpackcat-february-2016-madison

Madison had so much fun with this toy.  Unfortunately, very few of the photos turned out.  I guess that’s what happens when you try to photograph black cats!

petpackcat-february-2016-sparkles

Mr. Kitty is not amused.  However, I am thrilled to get a photo of him with both his eyes open (he’s been having some eye issues lately but I think he’s finally on the mend).

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $33 for the February 2016 PetPack for cats.   That is slightly under the $34 (subscription + US shipping) cost although it is a better value than this month’s PetPack dog box.  Also, unfortunately, not every item worked for us this month.  However, if you are looking for a cat box that’s not only toys and treats but also includes some other supplies, and you opt for a longer subscription and use a coupon, this box might still be worth it for you.

What do you think of the February 2016 PetPack?  Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?

I’m so sorry to be a criticizer, but you should put collars on your cats even if they are indoor only kitties. If they were to get outside and get lost it would help them get home. Plus someone else will less likely to ‘adopt’ them if they find them (purposely ignoring the possibility that the kitties might have a chip)

I also LOVE the cat pix! My black cat died last year, so the pictures of Madison really pull at my heart strings!

I love our cats, but once again this box doesn’t cover its cost, and this time, half the contents are not even usable! That bow tie is such a hazard. I just like Ragan’s cat photos.

Please forgive me for interfering, but I’ve had many cats over the past 30+ years, and have encountered as many different illnesses. Mr. Kitty, the cute little one in the last photo looks like he’s in pain. Don’t know if it’s just the eye issue, as he seems to be favoring one, but pain always shows up in the eyes, and cats are notorious for hiding their pain especially in a multi cat household, as I’m sure you know. All of your fur babies are cute by the way; great pictures. Hopefully, Mr. K is fine, but I’d feel terrible if I didn’t ‘say’ anything. Thanks for the great review.

Oh, I know. We’ve been going back and forth to the vet over this since November. He has uveitis that is a secondary condition brought on by his IBD medications and his eye herpes. Believe it or not, he is actually doing much better than he was a month ago. His eyes are no longer weirdly dilated and he has no more discharge or redness. We tested his eye pressure too and it is in the normal range. So I am aware of his condition and he is getting better.
