Included in the box were a few cards.  One was a standard information card and the other provided more information on this subscription’s earth-friendly packaging.

Sojos Grain Free Treats for Dogs in Lamb & Sweet Potato (10 oz) – Value $6.49

These were on sale at Chewy.com for more than $4 off so technically, the retail value is a little higher.  Anyway, they use chickpea flour as a base instead of grains and they’re made in the USA.  Plus, I’m happy to get a treat with a less common protein since Nyx has so many dietary issues.  (Dietary customization is a real strength of this subscription.)

VIP Products Mighty Lion (Jr. size) – Value $8.55

Nyx loves plushes but they never last long with her.  This one was no exception.  (See below.)

Zuke’s Lil’ Links in Rabbit & Apple (6 oz) – Value $5.99

These were also on sale for a few dollars off so again, these typically have a higher retail value.  They’re also grain free and made in the USA.  And I don’t think Nyx has had rabbit before so we can actually try these out!

Nyx desperately trying to amputate the lion’s back leg.  Will she succeed?

Yeah, she succeeded…

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $21 for the March 2016 Petite Fours box.   If two of the items hadn’t been on sale, the value would’ve been closer to $29.  So while the calculated value is less than the subscription price, I think there are two things to keep in mind.  First, the sale prices affected the value and second, there is some value in this subscription related to dietary customization.  I was able to exclude common allergens like chicken and fish and soy, none of which Nyx can have.  In fact, Nyx’s list of exclusions is so long that it’s really difficult to find any treats that might work for her at all, so I appreciate the effort that went into those selections.  Plus, you can always get a deal on a longer subscription term.

A thought bubble for Nyx “Who’s the king of the jungle now!?”
