LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 1

Noir Color Block Tee – retail: $62 (Le Tote Price: $48)

This top was really comfortable, but I think the proportions of the color block wasn’t super flattering on me.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 2

Octavia Hooded Long Cardigan – retail: $72 (Le Tote Price: $32)

I like the length of this cardigan, but it didn’t feel like something that retails for $72 (I can see why Le Tote put their price lower). The pattern was screen-printed on and the material was a little thin. I enjoyed wearing it, but I knew I wasn’t going to keep it right away.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 3

Sam Edelman Crinkle Spike Pendant – retail: $35 (Le Tote Price: $28)

This necklace is simple and versatile! I like it.

Tart Scoop Neck L/S Top – retail: $75? (Le Tote Price: $44)?

I couldn’t find this item on Le Tote’s site anymore, so I’m thinking it was purchased/taken out of rotation/etc. I like this top! The pink color is fun and the material is so very comfortable! It was a little thin/see though but not too bad.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 4

Sorry – I forgot to snap a photo of the necklace before returning my tote but this is a close-up from Le Tote’s Website.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 5

Collective Concepts Abstract Sleeveless Top – Retail: $60 (Le Tote Price: $29)

This top is really cute, but it just fits me a little weirdly. I think it’s too short and a little boxy. It definitely looks better on their model than me. I like the concept though!

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 6

Street Level Pretty in Pink Clutch – retail: $48 (Le Tote Price: $38)

I loooove this clutch. The design and size is perfect for my tastes and for me to throw in my diaper bag and grab whenever I need to run someplace without baby. The color is my only hesitation – it’s bright orange. It’s called pink on Le Tote’s site but it’s really orange in person. I sent this back, but I really have been thinking I should order it (you can still get the Le Tote Price when you do) since I did!

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 7

Here it is with the handle attached.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - all items 2

Now for my second February tote (my 12th overall)

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 8

Noir Luxe Monochrome Clutch – retail: $48 (Le Tote Price: $38)

This bag is cool – I love the geometric pattern made by the pyramid-shaped studs! It has a wrist strap that clips on and off, as well as a full over-the-shoulder strap. The quality feels really nice, too!

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 9

Octavia & Co. The Imperfect Stud – retail: $14 (Le Tote Price: $8)

These are my style! I love the “organic” shape, the silver tone, and the price.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 10

Summer & Sage Bird Crewneck Sweater – Retail: $72 (Le Tote Price: $58)

This sweater is wonderful. I love the birds and the fabric is really soft and comfortable. It fit really well! I’m really tempted to keep it, but the price is a little high for a sweater on the brink of Spring. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed wearing this as much as I could before sending it back!

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 11

Tart Striped Heather Blazer – Retail: $125 (Le Tote Price: $96)

I really love this blazer. It’s a comfortable knit and would add a really cute way to dress up/finish any look without sacrificing any kind of comfort! For the price though, I just couldn’t keep it.

LE TOTE FEB 2016 - items 12

MAK Striped Multi Cardigan – retail: $28 (Le Tote Price: $22)

I love this cardigan! The colors and stripes make me happy, plus the material is really soft! It’s perfect for Spring, and the price is nice so I ended up keeping this.

Verdict: In February I went through 2 totes, and found a great cardigan I really like. I can easily get at least 3 totes, but I got some pieces that I really wanted to make sure I got some wear out of since I liked them a lot. My very favorite part of this sub is that I can keep the items as long as I like and wear them before deciding if I want to buy them or send them back. Sometimes it takes feeling how a piece wears before realizing that it won’t actually work for you, or that it’s itchy, or something like that. I also feel like there is minimal pressure to buy items, since it is a rental service and not a styling service. I feel this aspect gives me permission to enjoy (and wear!) the clothes and not feel bad or awkward when I send everything back (even though I do often keep an item per tote anyway so far).

Evaluating the value is a little tricky because I think the value of renting clothes and accessories is pretty subjective and different for everyone. I can see this being a great service for someone who uses a “capsule wardrobe” or someone who doesn’t like to wear the same thing twice or has a lot of social events to go to, or even women in the process of losing weight!

I have been eyeing that striped jacket! February was my first month and I really like the service. HOWEVER all of the clothes need ironed and I absolutely hate ironing. I may have to invest in a steamer. It also takes a full week from the time I send it back to the time I get a new one, which is a bummer. I wish they would go ahead and ship when they receive notice it is in the mail instead of waiting until they receive it to process the next tote. I am only 5′ and pleasantly surprised everything has fit me as I usually buy petites.

That striped cardigan looks gorgeous on you. Or should I say– you look gorgeous, period.

Aw, thanks so much Nancy! =]

On here you have the cost as $49 but when I went to sign up they have it listed as $59. Also do you use the additional $5 insurance they offer?

Tia

I added the insurance at first but then later had them cancel it because I wasn’t using it. I just make sure I check my items when I get the box. Overall their customer service is ALWAYS wonderful and I’ve never had any issues.

Haley Faye

Oops – they recently updated that, so I forgot to fix that when copy+pasting. Sorry! You’re right. And yes, I do use the $5 insurance!

Amber

No problem! Thank you! 🙂

i agree with all your comments about the style/fit of the items Haley! You look really great in horizontal stripes too, which is not something everyone can say. That striped blazer is awesome, so sad about the price. If i was going to spend almost $100 on a blazer, I’d probably want it to be something I could wear more often.

And a point of clarification, you said the first tote was the 10th one overall, then the second one was the 12th…did I miss something?

Haley Faye

Christen – you didn’t miss anything. This is my 10th + 11th Le Totes. My mistake; sorry. =]

Hailey,
I’m ~5 weeks away from having my first baby. I’m worried about my body’s changing shape in the few months after the baby arrives. Do you think this subscription would be a good idea for that time period? I’m thinking renting clothes that I can send back if they don’t work would be better than buying clothes. I’d appreciate your thoughts since you’re a new mom too!

Lindsey – Oh my goodness girl, congrats!!! Also, how tall are you? My main fit issues with Le Tote are items that are too short on my torso, but I’m 5’11”. I think Le Tote is possibly worth a try, but you have to think about what works best for you. For Le Tote, you’d spend $59 for one month for as many clothes as you can order/swap out, and you can pick items that are loose, comfy, flowy, etc that you think will work, to get you through the transition period after having your baby. You said you want to be able to rent/send them back if they don’t work instead of buying clothes. You’re right that you can do that, but you do still have to pay the LT price on top of the monthly rental fee if you do end up wanting to keep something. Also something you have to consider, using this during your beginning post partum time might be, well, a pain for you. Because you package the items back up (in a pre-paid shipping bag, which is convenient) and drop them off at your local post office. This means that you or your SO or family or some one will have to drive+drop them off at some point, most likely more than once a month. Right after having the baby, you will probably want to have zero pressure to do anything but recover, and take care of your baby and yourself, and all the great wonderful family bonding.

I kind of agree with Mindy. You may want to consider purchasing some comfortable, versatile, flattering, pretty clothing you like from a retail store (FYI – JCPenney has no limit on how long after your purchase you can return something! If you have the receipt you get the original form of payment back, if no receipt, you get store credit for the lowest that item has been in the last 60 days I think. This is handy when putting off returns until you actually feel up to going out and about, lol). Also, just so you know, I totally wore my maternity stuff on the regular for like a month or two while I was laying around the house resting+recovering.

Hope some of that helps!! Again, congratulations, lady!!

As a mom of 4, I’d recommend against a subscription like this as so many of the items don’t always fit well (as Haley talks about) and that can be depressing! BUT you do deserve to feel great in clothes during your transition period while your body gets back to where it’s supposed to be post-baby (which may sadly never be how it was pre-baby). I’d suggest going to target, tj maxx or jcpenneys where there is nice but affordable clothing and getting some basics that correctly fit you at that time. Get a weeks worth of clothes and invest in some leggings or yoga pants that can are stretchy enough to feel comfortable and several sizes. Congrats!
