KI1

Kites & Ivy is a subscription box for college women.  They send out four boxes per year - two per semester, and they typically correlate with what is happening at that time - finals, spring break, etc.  This is a review of their Spring Break Box.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This is a review of the Spring Break box!  My spring break cannot come fast enough, and receiving a box called Spring Break made me yearn for it to come even faster.

Klen Lip Scrub and Lip Balm Duo - $12.00

I received the lemonade flavor for both of these, which I think was a great choice for spring break - all about the sunshine!  The lip scrub smells amazing!  It was a much drier consistency than I expected, but it definitely worked well, and tasted great (you know you always get lip scrubs in your mouth too.).  I love the smell and the consistency.  I think I might use a little spatula to get it out of the jar though - that was a bit difficult.

The lip balm was a bit void of smell compared to the scrub, which is fine with me.  It didn't go on very smoothly, but once I got it on my lips, it was very emollient, and felt super moisturizing.

Inked by Dani - Sample

This was an extra thrown into the box.  These temporary tattoos are hand drawn.  I received one that said 'good vibes.'  I don't use these, so I'll find someone who will appreciate it more than I do, but the text looks really pretty!  It seems appropriate for a college girl on spring break!

KI5

Peeled Snacks Much-Ado-About-Mango - $1.94

These are really good!  When I think of spring break, I think of going to the tropics (not that I've ever gone on vacation on spring break...maybe I should try to remedy that...), so mango seems fitting!  This was really good, but mango is one of my favorite fruits, so I'm probably biased.

Nature's Bakery Fig Bar - $1.25

This is definitely a great snack to grab and go.  One thing I will call out though, is that the information card for Kites & Ivy said that this is gluten free - mine is definitely not, as the first ingredient is stone ground whole wheat flour.  Hopefully everyone checks the label, and doesn't just believe the info card.  Nature's Bakery DOES make a gluten free version though, so maybe they sent out a mixture of the two.  I thought it was quite good, and it made a great snack in between classes.

KI6

Chi Miss Universe Blow-Dry Spray - $15.00?

Kites & Ivy value this at $15.00, but it's available for less ($11.99) and more ($22.00) at certain retailers.  It seems like $15 is a median price to go with, so we'll go with that.  It feels a bit like a dry oil spray when you first spray it on, and then brushes through cleanly.  I have to admit that I never notice a huge difference when I use blow dry sprays, but I don't blow dry my hair all that often because I have very long hair.  Perhaps those of you that do will love this spray!  It is lightly scented, but isn't overwhelming.  I did notice that my hair was a bit more shiny, and it does have moisturizing properties, so I will finish the bottle!

Acure Energizing Body Lotion - $9.99

I really love the scent of this lotion!  It is definitely invigorating, and the formula is very smooth.  It is quite moisturizing, but it's not as heavy as a body cream. This is a great, basic lotion that would be a pleasure to use every morning because the scent is so vibrant.  I can see myself purchasing this when I run out of this bottle.  It is free from animal testing, parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances.  It also absorbs quickly, for those of you that dislike the feeling of moisturizer sitting on top of your skin.

KI7

NCLA Nail Wraps - 2 Nights at the Paradise Motel - $16.00

The color on these is super pretty, and fits the theme well.  I do not wear nail polish or nail wraps, so I decided to do some research to give you wonderful people some information.  If I tried to apply these with zero experience, I'm sure my review would be skewed!  Makeup Alley has them rated at a 3.5, with reviewers saying that they have great designs, but they last only about 2-3 days.  The reviewers also say they can be difficult to apply unless you've done it before.  At $16.00 per set, it's definitely less than a manicure, but quite a bit more expensive than applying nail polish alone.  I'm assuming most people have experience applying these at least once or twice since they've been so popular in recent years, so I think these are a fun addition to the box.

Verdict:  I think the concept of Kites & Ivy is so awesome - it would be great for parents to send to a daughter in school, or for a college student to get personally.  The value of this shipment was about $56.18.  I think that's a good value for the cost, and the curation really was spot on.  Everything included would be great for spring break, or spring/college life in general!  There's nothing here that won't be used, or that makes you wonder "Who really needs something like that?"

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I get this sub for my daughter. It makes me feel better to send her age appropriate products she’ll use rather than a box of candy or snacks. She loves to get the packages and finds the stuff inside fun and useful. There is always a product inside that seems to boost your Self esteem. Last year there was a mug that said you’re beautiful with hot chocolate on a stick. The snacks seem to be healthy. She goes to college in NC, about 30 miles from where they are located so she gets her boxes the day after they are shipped. The finals box will be our last since she graduates, but she has enjoyed them.
