Gorilla Gamer Crate Subscription Box Review – February 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Gorilla Gamer Crate is a subscription box for gamers! Their website calls it a “monthly, mystery, console specific crate focused 100% on video gamers.” My sons are complete video game addicts, so they were thrilled to hear about this box!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Gorilla Gamer Crate

The Cost: $39.99 + $7.95 shipping = $47.94 / month with discounts for longer commitments

COUPON: Save 5% off your first box with code MSA5.

The Products: A surprise assortment of video gamer gear, t-shirts, console accessories and related goodies

Ships to: Us for $7.95, Canada for $19.95, everywhere else for $39.95

Check out the Geek + Nerd Subscription Box Directory and make sure to add Gorilla Gamer Crate to your subscription list or wishlist!

Good to Know: GGC also has a smaller subscription box called “GGC Lite” that costs $19.99 per month. Shipping costs are the same.

Also Good to Know: When you sign up, you select PS4 or XBox One as your console. Those appear to be the only options at the moment. We chose PS4.

This was our first box from Gorilla Gamer Crate, so we got this little welcome card in our package. We also received a coupon for $20 off at MK Controllers. I think that’s actually a coupon we will be using pretty soon – my boys are rough on controllers!

Superman Vs. Batman Custom Tee – Value $10?

There was no information in the box itself about this month’s theme, but from the website I learned that this month’s theme is “Heroes.” My nine-year-old LOVES this tee-shirt! It’s a tiny bit big (they only have adult sizes), but he can wear it as a jammies shirt in the meantime.

Avengers Age of Ultron Hulk Pop! Vinyl Bobble Head Figure 68 – Value $10.75

We are starting to get a little obsessed with Funko Pop! Figures at my house, and the Hulk is the boys’ favorite Avenger. This was a big win for us!

KMD Black 5-Port USB Hub Adapter For PS4 – Value $14.99

My sons are a little new to the gaming world to know the value of this accessory, but I can see the writing on the wall. It seems like every cool new game comes with its own controller or pad, and we will soon need more than two ports. Plus having more than two controllers comes in handy if you want to play a game with more than one friend!

Snacks – Value about $3

As a gamer, I think it’s very fun that they included snacks. As a mother, I’m thinking the last thing you should do while sitting down playing video games is mindless snacking! At least they included relatively healthy snacks.

Marvel The Line Up Poster 22″X34″ – Value $4.61

My older son was super excited about this poster! I have to admit, it’s pretty cool.

Verdict: This was a really fun first box from Gorilla Gamer Crate! Everything was very tightly curated to the Heroes theme, which my sons absolutely loved! I really only felt like the USB hub was gaming-specific, though. Everything else could be from almost any other geek / gamer box. The value of the included items comes to $43, which beats the cost of the box, but not by much, and not if you include shipping. That value is okay, but I would like to see Gorilla Gamer Crate’s value increase in the coming months. Otherwise, this box was a big hit at my house!
