YummyBazaar-January-2016-Info

This month’s theme is “Artisanal USA.”

YummyBazaar-January-2016-ItemList1

The box included a booklet that outlined the items inside.

The booklet also included a couple of recipes that incorporated items from the box.

YummyBazaar-January-2016-Terrapin

All Natural Sea Salt Pita Chips by Terrapin Ridge Farms (8 oz.)- $4.90

The first two products in this month’s “Artisanal USA” box are from Terrapin Ridge Farms. I’ve tried a couple of their other products recently in subscription boxes, and I’ve been very impressed. I love receiving chips in subscription boxes, but, if they’re not packed properly, it can be a let down to receive a bag of crunched up pieces. Luckily, these arrived in great shape. I really like pita chips, and these were fantastic.

Cilantro Lime Ranch Salad Dressing by Terrapin Ridge Farms (12 oz.)- $7.30

The second item from Terrapin Ridge Farms is Cilantro Lime Ranch Salad Dressing. The flavors of cilantro and lime pair well with southwestern cooking, and Yummy Bazaar suggests using this dressing as a topping for fish tacos.

YummyBazaar-January-2016-Carrots

Borsellino Salami by La Quercia (6 oz.)- $8.95

La Quercia’s Borsellino Salami is made in Iowa from humanely raised, vegetarian fed, antibiotic free pigs from family farms. It’s rich, meaty, and nicely spicy.

Cayenne Carrot Sticks by Preservation Co. (16 oz.)- $8.99

I love pickled veggies, so I was thrilled to see these Cayenne Carrot Sticks in the box! All of Preservation & Co.’s products are hand crafted and hand packed, and they never use artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. The carrot sticks had a nice snap to them, and I was (pleasantly) surprised to find them fairly spicy!

YummyBazaar-January-2016-Lark

Burnt Sugar, Salted Rosemary & Espresso Chip Shortbread by Lark Fine Foods (8.2 oz.)- $7.95

Lark is another brand that’s popped up before in subscription boxes, and I’m a big fan of their Burnt Sugar & Fennel Seed Cookies. This sampler pack features three different flavors that are all new to me. (Though, the burnt sugar cookies are pretty similar to the ones I’ve had before.) They’re all fantastic, each with mild sweetness and great flavor.

YummyBazaar-January-2016-Fudge

Handmade Hot fudge by Coop's (10.6 oz.)- $9.99

Coop’s Hot Fudge is made with fine European chocolate, local dairy ingredients, and without preservatives, artificial ingredients, or corn syrup. I don’t think I’ve ever received hot fudge in a subscription box before, so I’m thrilled to see it in this box. I see hot fudge brownies in my future!

Braising Sauce by Fischer & Wieser (14.5 oz.)- $10.95

The last item featured this month is a braising sauce by Fischer & Wieser. Based on the way the item is listed in the booklet, I believe flavors will vary. I received Moroccan Tagine, but the flavor pictured in the booklet is Mole-Style Chile & Plum. I think they both sound great!

Verdict: Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club is one of my favorite foodie subscription boxes! I really like that this month’s box featured items from the US (past boxes have focused on international items), and, as usual, I’m very impressed with the selection. The carrots and Lark cookies are fantastic, and I can’t wait to use the Moroccan Tagine Braising Sauce. The cost of the items in the box totals just over $59, which is fantastic for the $35.95 cost of the box. I don’t know how they do it!

Thank you for a great review. I just signed up for this subscription and also enjoyed shopping on their website. I also needed to call and found them to be very helpful. I was impressed that one of the items I purchased I had bought while in Paris and paid about the same so no huge markup. Thank you again for your great reviews.

Can this box be bought as a stand alone, even if at a higher cost? It’s looking good and that Terrapin Ridge brand was in the Nov PSMH with basically the best mustard, ever, so I’m curious to get this one.

you can skip a month if you don’t like the theme-they email you to remind you

They do have a past boxes section on their website (in the subscriptions menu) for $55, but most are listed as sold out and this box isn’t listed there yet (it might be worthwhile to reach out by email?)

Also, their website usually has a coupon code for first time buyers for free shipping without the usual minimum order, so if there are things you want to try, you could at least get it without paying shipping.

Edit: Just noticed that the price actually varies depending on the box. $55 was the one I noticed since the Italy box is the only one still listed as available.

I loved mine, this is my favorite food sub by far.
I wanted to add, if you don’t eat meat like me, you can email them and they will substitute any meat items (I got crackers instead of the salami)
Customer service is great!
