WANTABLE MAKEUP FEB 2016 - BOX

Wantable Makeup
4.2 overall rating
35 Ratings | 14 Reviews

Wantable is a monthly subscription service that has 3 different plans: Makeup, Accessories, and Intimates. (Plus a styling service for Fitness wear and clothing similar to Stitch Fix in the try-then-buy model.) It’s one of the pricier subscriptions ($40 a month), but everything they send is full size, and they fully customize the boxes based on your preferences. You also can return individual items from any box for a refund.

WANTABLE MAKEUP FEB 2016 - info 1

Here is my invoice. In addition to the retail price of the item, they also include “your price,” which is how much you would get refunded if you wanted to return that item. (Wantable recently introduced individual item returns to their subscriptions. Previously, it was keep the entire box or send the entire box back for a refund).

(FYI – I noticed that the description of my blue nail polish says it’s a “rich, oxblood, deep red shade,” so that’s obviously inaccurate.)

You get to take a very detailed survey of what items you love, like and dislike. You won’t receive anything in your dislike list. Here’s how my personal preferences are set up. Also, your stylist can send you notes or respond to comments you’ve added to your profile.

WANTABLE MAKEUP FEB 2016 - items 1

Seta Kabuki Brush – retail: $18 (my price: $7.91)

This is a pretty nice brush. It has synthetic bristles but they’re soft and work well. I have a ton of brushes, but I don’t mind the back ups!

One Love Organics Brand New Day Microderma Scrub + Mask – retail: $39 (My Price $17.14)

I was so happy to see this in my box! This brand is great and organic, and this product is worth the cost of the box.

WANTABLE MAKEUP FEB 2016 - items 2

Eddie Funkhouser Chromographic Lip Color in Kiki – retail: $11.99 (my price: $5.27)

This lipstick is quite pretty! It’s a really nice pink shade.  (swatch below)

Beauty For Real Illuminating Nail Polish in Light On Your Toes – retail: $9 (My Price: $3.96)

So, when they say “illuminating nail polish” they mean it literally. This polish’s cap has a little ridge on the side that’s actually a little bulb and a button on top so you can have a flashlight when painting your nails. Interesting idea but mine doesn’t work (I didn’t even know it was supposed to be there until I looked it up) and the shade isn’t one I’ll use.

Bodyography EyeLiner Pencil in Black Magic – Retail: $13 (my price: $5.71)

I was surprised how much I like this eyeliner! I’m generally really picky. This goes on nicely and has lots of pigment. It’s pretty soft, too, so it goes on smoothly – just means you have to have a lighter hand when applying it, though.

Here’s my full face of makeup, showing the lipstick and the eyeliner! I actually really love this shade of lipstick.

And here’s a better look for seeing how the eyeliner looks. I’m happy with it!

Verdict: I’m surprisingly happy with everything in this month’s Wantable Makeup box! The total value comes out to $90.99, too, which is fantastic. I definitely found some new brands and products I’m glad to have.

You are so beautiful! That lippie looks amazing on you! I’m a liquid eyeliner kinda girl, so I usually use pencil eyeliners on my lower lash line. The illuminating nail polish is a cool idea, but it’s a bummer that it didn’t work. Did you try the scrub and masque yet?

Haley, those shades do look very nice on you. I’m curious to know, since you seem to be very fair complected as I am, what foundations you’ve found that work for you? I use Stila’s tinted moisturizer in bare, but every foundation I’ve tried doesn’t match my skin tone. I even did the camera thing at Sephora and those recommendations are a bit dark on me. Just curious as to what you wear.

I am not way in the make up industry or anything, and I recently discovered British make up artist called Lisa Eldridge. She does red-carpet, magazine shoots, etc. very famous. She has a video on her website solely dedicated for foundation recommendation for very fair skin (she has tons of videos, so you have to look through). Some products might not be available in US, but I think it is worth watching. My skin is darker than fair, but I watched it to help a friend of mine. There is this white foundation you can mix with whatever you have to make it lighter, so you don’t waste products you already own. All of her videos are fantastic and I have certainly learned a lot at my ripe age 🙂

It’s been tough – I’ve tried sooo many foundations! I’m neutral-toned, and I’ve found 3 I know I love and will stick with on rotation/for different levels of coverage: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia, Tarte Clay Tinted Moisturizer in ivory, and Cover FX Natural Finish Foundation in N0 (listed from lightest coverage to highest coverage). Also, I think that Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte Foundation’s lightest shade works okay on me. Might lean a little yellow, though, if I remember right. I used that for a month or two at some point. Hope this helps!

Please tell me you’re airbrushing or using a special filter on these photos because your skin looks AMAZING -flawless. You’re going to give me a complex! That lipstick is fabulous on you.

You’re so sweet! Haha my secret is never going to bed without removing my makeup and putting on moisturizer, and also a good setting powder! I’m currently using Make Up Forever’s HD setting powder. Personally I instantly notice a difference with it especially in photos and one container lasts me forever. Thanks so much for reading, girl! =]

Subscription boxes are full of blue nail polish. I wonder if the reason is that this is the color manufacturers can’t sell, so they have to get rid of the bottles somehow.

Haley Faye

Haha, that’s such a good point, Dea!
