STITCH FIX FEB 2016 - box

Stitch Fix
3.5 overall rating

Stitch Fix is a monthly styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey about your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences, and then your personal stylist sends you 5 items to try once a month. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

FYI – My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

Each box comes with cards with styling suggestions for every piece, plus a letter from your stylist.

And this is my invoice sheet. It lists the prices per item and the discount I’d receive by keeping all 5 items. With the 25% discount and my $20 styling fee factored in, this box would cost me a total of $205 to keep everything – approximately $41 an item.

Street Level Anchorage Solid Canvas Tote – Cost to Keep: $58

This tote really isn’t my style – I don’t care for brown and black together, or how plain the bag is. It’s a nice bag in that it’s a good quality and feels like it will last forever, but it’s just not my taste. This is going back!

Here’s to give you a better idea of it’s proportions/style!

STITCH FIX FEB 2016 - items 4

Chambrai Ramsdell Button Down Top – Cost to Keep: $58

This is cute (and comfortable), and I don’t own any denim/chambray shirts because I really just have no idea how to wear them! With jeans? Denim on top and bottom makes me feel like I’m having a 2001 Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake moment! Button-down under a sweater sounds uncomfortable and impractical for nursing, and I just don’t wear shorts or skirts.

Liverpool Anita Skinny Pant – Cost to Keep: $78

These pants fit great, and they had lots of length and stretch! However, I just bought a pair of black, stretchy pants from Stitch Fix in October that I haven’t worn that much so I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to keep these just because they fit and feel nice.

Market & Spruce  Corinna Striped Dolman Top – Cost to Keep: $48

This shirt is okay – it’s comfortable and I like the stripes! However it just didn’t wow me, especially for the price.

Loveapella Darril Cross Front Tie Knit Tank – Cost to Keep: $58

I like this top most out of everything in this month’s fix; I feel like it’s really flattering and I love the colors. However, now that I see it in the photos, I’m wondering if it doesn’t look too old on me. One of my goals this year is to narrow down my closet and really pin point my own style. I’m really on the fence about keeping this.

Verdict: This month’s Stitch Fix was pretty much a miss for me. But I’m feeling like some of the problem is that I don’t really have a narrowed-down “style” for my stylist (or me!) to go off of. I’m going to do some “style soul-searching” and look at other Stitch Fix unboxings and style blogs to try and narrow down what I really want my style to be like.

Man I want that bag so badly! I had to cancel my subscription a few months ago and wish I hadn’t now. Anyone willing to sell theirs? Because I’ve been looking for exactly that bag.

Really cute items! I lime the bag as a diaper bag alternative but if it is just a cavernous hole I could see it being hard to organize.

I think all of the clothes look great in you. I think how you have the denim top and the dark jeans on looks super cute. I do think that the last top looks great on you but the pattern feels a little dated.

Stitch fix is really hit or miss for me but I think it’s because I have had a different stylist everytime. My goal was to expand my style and wind up with different things in my closet than what I’d normally wear but while still realistically planning on wearing what I get.

I just hopped on the maternity line of theirs twice. I’m definitely going to check out your nursing bra reference above!

I just re-subscribed after looking at your outfits. I LOVED the bag, the jeans, and the denim looking top. I have the Market and Spruce top in charcoal/black from 2013 and 2014 when I received a Fix regularly. Can’t wait to continue on with them!

That red pattern top looks amazing on you. The style accentuates your figure, and the color is great.

Can I ask you an odd question? What type/brand of bra do you wear? You always look so great in the photos!! Thanks in advance 🙂

Haha, Yana, thank you so much. I actually just wear nursing bras these days. The one I was wearing for these photos is by Cake Maternity. But if you’re looking for normal recommendations, my favorite place for not-nursing bras is Soma. =]

Thank you 🙂 I will check it out!! I will actually need one of those soon 😉

Love the denim but you may need a bigger size, you have the chest gap going on. The pattern shirt is accentuating your chest (looks good). From one Michigander to another!

You wear the chambray shirt just like that! They’re great with scarves, and I don’t know why, but I sometimes like to do a really colorful accessory with them like a neon bangle, which is something I don’t typically wear. They’re also great more casually worn over a printed tee with leggings

I don’t think the last one looks too old on you. But, like half my wardrobe is shirts in exactly the same style. So maybe I am biased. (I’m 38.)

I really love the denim shirt and the Loveapella red shirt. For the denim shirt…I wear mine with colored jeans, black jeans, khakis, cords…it looks great as a light weight jacket or layering! I love mine ….one of many …with black jeans, boots, white t shirt….then a little silver jewelry. Very classic! The Loveapella shirt will look great with black sweater or leather like jacket and jeans or black pants. I do not think it looks too old at all…just a little sassy….with leather jacket for date night! You look great! The purse and other top is kind of blah! Thanks for sharing!

I wear my denim/chambray tops with white bottoms during the spring or summer and black bottoms during the winter or fall. I also have yellow and hot pink jean capris that I wear them with. But I don’t do the blue denim on blue denim.
