I read the About page on their website, and I could not relate to someone more! Though I am married, my dear husband isn't always the best with gifts. I generally buy my own (Hey, got to take care of myself, right? lol), so there's not many surprises coming my way! (Though, my mom does still do a stocking for us, which is always awesome.) I think this is why most of us LOVE subscription boxes - the surprise element (even though I'm terrible at avoiding spoilers). Anyway, Deanna couldn't find a box that fit what she would love, so she made her own! How fun is that?
Also, the packaging for this box is awesome. It is wrapped with wrapping paper, stamped, and then it has stickers on it. Then when I opened it, there were these cool 3-D hearts - this has to be one of the most fun boxes I've opened.
SlimNote Notebook - $4.00
This is a small kraft paper notebook with blank pages! I've received a few little notebooks lately, and they'll come in very handy for carrying in my purse, car, and school bag! This one is unlined, so it will really be handy for sketching out my sewing ideas when one hits me on the fly!
Love Letter Earrings - $8.70
These are perfect for a Valentine's Day box. These tiny little earrings are made out of wood, and have a tiny hand painted heart. I never would have guessed that they were so inexpensive! Kate Rowland is from the UK, and has much more tiny wooden jewelry on her Etsy account, and it's all very reasonably priced!
3-D Cardstock Valentine's Day Hearts - $2.00?
These are so fun, and I had to examine them to see how they were made! These were handmade by Deanna - I love the personal touches in this box - you can tell that she put time into it. I am going to use these, and try to get the ones off my box, to decorate for the little Valentine's Day party planned for my niece!
6 Sheets of Flower Stickers - $5.00?
These are the perfect spring stickers! They are all round stickers, and would be perfect to seal a notecard or envelope. I loved stickers as a kid, and I love stickers now! (The only difference is that now I don't stick them on the walls - painting is expensive and the biggest pain in the neck ever.)
Susanne George Greeting Card - The Embrace - $7.00?
I can't find pricing for this card, but I found the designer! I think this design is one of my favorites of hers. I'm guessing on the price, based on the specialty card prices from Target or whatnot. The inside of this card is blank, and it is signed by the artist on the back!
Colorful Day Heart pen - $2.00?
This pen is slender and writes really well. The ink is black, and it comes out smoothly. I couldn't smear it at all! The colors are perfect for spring, but also fitting for the theme of this box!
Handmade Felt Fortune Cookies - $6.00?
These were also handmade by Deanne, and are the personalized piece of this box. Each box has a 'personalized-to-you' component, and this month it was the messages in the fortune cookies. I love these, and they'll be used as decor as well! I might just make my own messages and shove them in too!
Truffle Pig White & Dark Raspberry Truffle Bar - $2.53
I seriously cannot get over the name of these chocolate bars! I laughed when I first saw it, and thought "Never has a chocolate bar been more aptly, or hilariously, named." I was shocked at how reasonable the prices are for these truffle bars. Specialty chocolate can carry a hefty price tag, and this is a pretty big chocolate bar! The flavor was excellent - I definitely tasted the raspberry in the dark chocolate truffle center. This company has so many more of these that I'm not sure I can stop myself from buying all of them to try! They also have Wild Boar chocolates and Frog chocolates. I love the creativity of the names!
Verdict: This box felt like a really well thought out gift from a friend. There were personal touches, handmade items by the box curator, a delicious treat, and many more little things that made this box special. The value I calculated was just under $38.00, which is pretty close to the box cost - but I guessed on a few of the values. I think this is one of those boxes that you need to look at the individual items and see if they're worth the cost of the box to you. If you take the count of all of the items and divide it by the box cost, it comes out to a little over $4.80 an item, which isn't bad!
Like I said, this box really felt like a personalized gift from a friend, and I LOVED that.
