Purr Packs is a monthly subscription box for cats.  You can choose from several different subscription tiers, with customization offered for higher tiers (for example, you can exclude certain protein sources in treats).

The Subscription Box: Purr Packs

Included was an information card detailing some of the items for the month.  It also had some updates and reminders about the subscription plan.

purrpacks-february-2016-brush

Purr Packs Groomer – Value $6 (?)

This is an exclusive item.  I like to keep cat brushes in various spots around the house in case Monkey needs grooming (he’s really the only one that requires any help).  The price is a total guess based on similar items I found online.

PetStages Cuddle Toy – Value $4.79

This is really big.  My cats weren’t super interested but I put it up in the bedroom where they spend the day because you never know.

purrpacks-february-2016-monkeybrush

Monkey loves brushes.  He doesn’t like BEING brushed, but he likes rubbing himself on brushes.  He will go out of his way to get ahold of my hair brushes.

purrpacks-february-2016-grass

OurPets Kitty Cat Family Grass Growable Cat Treats – Value $10.40

I haven’t had this long enough to show any sprouts, but I have had similar items before and they were very popular.  Mr. Kitty and Monkey like them the most.  It’s basically just wheat, oat, and barley grass.

purrpacks-february-2016-longtoys

CharmingPet SnapCat “Blue” – Value $6.99

Swat & Squeak Jingle Wand by PetSport – Value $2.68

Long dangly toys are fun for my cats and for me.  Just look below – and these photos are only the tip of the iceberg.

purrpacks-february-2016-madison

I actually caught Madison doing something other than hiding behind the table or eating treats.

purrpacks-february-2016-sparkles

I had to get one picture of Mr. Kitty in here.  But he was not in a very good mood the day I took pictures.  I think he was a little under the weather (he’s 11 and he has chronic health problems).

purrpacks-february-2016-sneakypinktoy

Once again, Sneaky is the star of the show…

purrpacks-february-2016-toys

Yeowww! Catnip Hearrrt Attack – Value $9.91

This seems priced kind of high, but the problem I am finding with looking up cat toy values online is that they are all over the place.

Zanies Cheese Wedge Rainbow Furry Mouse – Value $0.89

FYI, “cheese wedge” refers to the cardboard container if you order 60 of these at once…

Zanies Refill Hypno Mouse – Value $1.49

I like that Purr Packs sends a lot of different kinds of toys.  You’re much more likely to get something your cat will play with.  The two mice are long gone (probably under the bed or dresser).  Monkey’s been loving the heart a little bit.  (By that, I mean he licks it and rubs his chin on it.)

purrpacks-february-2016-treats

Blue Kitty Yums Savory Salmon Recipe (2 oz) – Value $2.39

My cats have been very interested in fish lately after years of ignoring it.  They are also fans of semi-soft treats.  So this is a win!  Plus these are made in the USA with no corn, wheat, or soy.

Zuke’s Natural Purrz Tender Chicken Recipe (3 oz) – Value $2.63

I’ve seen a lot of Zuke’s products in dog subscription boxes before so I’m familiar with the brand.  These are also made in the USA, from USA-sourced ingredients, and also include no corn, wheat, or soy.  Another win for us.

purrpacks-february-2016-scratcher

Purr Packs Corrugated Scratcher – Value $10 (?)

I think they send one of these every month in the box version I got.  My cats use the one from last month a lot.  I’m thinking of setting this one up in a different room.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $58 for the February 2016 Purr Packs box.   That’s even better than last month!  While not every toy was a hit (yet, anyway), there was so much variety it didn’t even matter.  I think the dangly toys were my favorites – my cats had so much fun with them!

Does anyone know I'd the smaller boxes coke with scratch pads? We go through those basic pads monthly along with treats, the $24.99 box would definitely be worth it but I just have my one boy so anything larger would probably be a little excessive.

Hi, Amber! Good question. We typically send a scratch pad (with some bonus catnip sealed in) with each Purr-Packs, regardless of size. But because we also always send our members large, full-sized items that are full of awesomeness, there are times when the scratch pad won’t fit in the smaller boxes. This is rare, and it only happens once or twice a year. We note this on the card that comes inside the shipment, and we always hope folks are so excited and stirred up over the large, over-sized items that it will make up for not getting a scratch pad that particular month.

I think most of their boxes come with scratchers. I’ve been subbing for quite some time now. Once in a while, they include something that’s too large for them to include a scratcher that month. When I emailed them to ask, they explained they do almost always include the scratcher. You could always email them – they have great customer service!

To the person who said they didn’t get one, did you check the bottom of the box? The scratcher is on the bottom, then there’s a cardboard tray with the catnip laced shred, toys, and treats.

Hey! You nailed it! At times, we indeed leave the scratch pad out because of the large sized awesomeness of the other items we pack in there! While this only happens once or twice a year, we are always sure to note it on the card that comes with the shipment. Thank you for the compliment on our customer service. We try really hard because we really care!

Kristin

No it isn’t on the bottom of the box but my box was packed full so maybe no room this month.

Chris

I should note that the smaller boxes come with smaller scratchers. The scratcher is the size of the box, basically, since it’s the bottom layer.

My cats love the box of shred too! They sleep in it all month, until the new one comes and I toss it.

Laurie

The solution is clearly to get another cat. Or two.

I told my fiance if I got down to my goal weight I was getting a kitten. As background, I have not been successful at any weight loss attempts in about 8-9 years.

Well. That was an excellent reward I set myself. I have lost over 11 pounds this year and am slightly more than 25% of the way there! By the end of the year, you should see a 5th cat in my reviews…

Moral of the story: there’s always room for more cats!

Amber

Haha, yes you’re probably right. I go back and forth on the topic constantly!!

Amber

Holy typos! IF the smaller boxes COME

This was my first box and it did not have a scratcher. I got everything above but the two hand held toys and only one bag of treats. My kitties loved everything including the box itself!

Wendy

Aww, I seriously love seeing your animals! That toy that says “…Bunnykick me” is so funny! I have seen that going on for years & finally know the name of it! The salmon treats that have a buffalo on it? My mind keeps flipping from the Pacific Ocean to South Dakota, but it’s salmon, but there’s a buffalo… does, not, compute. I hope Mr. Kitty feels better soon!
