My Paper and Pen subscription arrived in a bubble mailing envelope. All of the items were nicely wrapped in tissue paper when I opened it.
Brach's Mini Conversation Hearts - $0.52
These are adorable little candies. I've never seen the mini ones before. I love the way Conversation Hearts look, but their taste isn't my favorite. For a box received the week before Valentine's Day though, they couldn't have chosen a more classic, or traditional candy to include, so this was a great inclusion. I am going to keep the rest of them for decorating cut out sugar cookies with my niece on Saturday! (If any of you have an amazing cut out sugar cookie recipe with frosting that sets pretty quick - let me know! I need one!)
Black Fine Point Kraft Paper Pens - $2.00?
The barrel of these pens feels similar to cardboard, and they write very smoothly. They are very fine point pens. There is no place to put the cap on the end of the pen, like a traditional pull off top pen, so I'm afraid I'll lose the cap, but that's a very small quibble. The pen itself writes well, has a consistent ink flow, so it's not patchy, and is easy to hold!
Sparrow + Wolf Notebook with 40 blank pages - metallic foil - $5.80
This is a beautifully made notebook. I love the gold foil polka dots and kraft paper style - my 30th birthday decor was all gold and kraft paper. I know, it's basic, but I love it - so I love this notebook. It's light enough that I can put it in my purse to jot down notes, or sketch out a new pattern idea I have for sewing! I love it!
Book Friends Golden Feather 18K Gold Plated Bookmark - $4.50
This is a really pretty bookmark. I would have expected the price to be at least triple what it is! It has a faux suede cord attached to the feather for easily locating your place in a book. I am making use of bookmarks with all of the reading I'm having to do now that I am back in college, so I love getting bookmarks, especially pretty ones!
Korean Gel-hilighter Pink - $1.63
Korean Gel-hilighter Yellow - $1.63
I never thought I would be impressed by a highlighter, but here I am - amazed at these! These are twistable gel highlighters that are extremely smooth and pigmented. They do not smear, and they look like Jello! How fun is that? I love these, and will make use of them, even if I don't often need to use highlighters!
Verdict: I really enjoyed this Paper and Pen subscription! The notebook is from a niche company in the UK, the highlighters are something I never would have come across in my day-to-day life, and the bookmark is something unique that I wouldn't have purchased for myself. All in all, this seems like a very thoughtful gift from one stationery lover to another. The value of the box comes out about even with the cost of the box, which is what I've come to experience with the smaller box companies. I am happy with the value, and the products - everything is useful, and will find a place in my routines!
