My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that delivers small-batch, locally made, food items, beauty products, & home goods from Texas artisans.  This month's theme was The Harvest Season.  A portion of the proceeds from this box is donated to the Houston food bank.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Products: Items you would expect to find at a local farmers market...shipped to your door!

This month's theme was 'Baby, its cold outside!'  I think they stuck to the theme quite well.  I love getting this box in the mail every month.  The variety of products, the quality of the products, and the thoughtful curation really make this box amazing each month.

TM3

Grapevine Grains Organic Corn Bread Mix - $6.00

I made this today, and I loved the taste of it.  The texture is very crumbly, but good cornbread can be that way sometimes!  I did cut the honey from 1/3 cup to 1/4 cup - I like to drizzle my cornbread with a bit of honey anyway, so I didn't want it to be too sweet!  I have a habanero infused honey that was amazing with this.

Pat Greer's Kitchen Texas Caviar Black-Eyed Pea Soup - $8.00

I also made this today.  Within minutes of it being on the stove, my house smelled amazing.  I think this was an awesome inclusion in a January box, since black eyed peas are a traditional food for the new year!  I used half of the chili pepper included, and deseeded it, since I didn't want to have a 'spiritual experience' as the recipe instructions said.  I can handle heat, but I would rather not breathe fire.  I probably could have added the whole deseeded pepper and not had a problem, but the soup would be fabulous with or without the pepper.

TM4

Salve Naturals - Lip, Nail, and Cuticle Conditioner - $7.00

I used this on my cuticles and lips, and oh my goodness, it smells good enough to eat.  It's very emollient, and I expected a little sting on my rough cuticles from the mint, but there was none!  Just a very nice, moisturizing balm.  This is a good size, so it will take a while to get through.

Benjamin Soap Co. Rosemary Bath Salts - $10.00

I think the size that was sent by My Texas Market is smaller than the one I linked to - the information card in the box is where I got the price I listed.  These smell absolutely fabulous, and looked pretty in the bathtub!  I think I used a bit more than I should have, but it was worth it.  YOLO, right?

TM5

Luscious Pastry - Luscious Chai Latte Mix - $8.50

I can't find this online, so I'm using the value that My Texas Market had on the information card.  This chai latte is absolutely delicious - it is creamy, spicy, warm, and yummy!  To be honest, it tastes like what you would get from a coffee shop - in the comfort of my kitchen!  (a tip: when I use powdered drink mixes, whether it's this chai, hot tea, etc. - I use one of these to ensure that all of the dry mix is incorporated into the milk/water...it is so much better than getting to the bottom of your cup and there's a mountain of mix at the bottom.)

TM6

Verdict: My Texas Market consistently knocks it out of the park with their boxes.  The curation of this box was spot on, with emollient salve for winter skin, salt soak for a relaxing way to warm up, delicious soup and cornbread for a cold evening, and an amazing chai latte mix that is easy and delicious.  The value of this box is $39.50, which is within their promised value every month.  I think they stuck to the theme quite well with this box, and I really enjoyed everything they included.  If you're looking for a fun, new box to pick up I highly recommend My Texas Market.  I look forward to it every month!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I canceled after this box, I love their boxes, but January’s wasn’t a hit for me. Plus after you pay shipping, you’re barely breaking even with the value of the box. The customer service is excellent though and I love that’s it’s more personable, they include hand written notes and the presentation is fantastic.

:)

I was in Texas last weekend (Dallas/Fort Worth area) and it was sunny and temperatures were in the 70s! Beautiful, and not cold at all:). Nice box, though.

This is a great box!

Thanks for the wonderful review — and for helping me decide what to make for dinner 🙂 I have a jar of Pat Greer’s black-eyed soup mix at home! (I’ve had a couple of her soup mixes – they’re all fabulous).

Although now I’ll probably end up buying one of those frother gizmos – and want to hunt down that chai latte mix!
