Meowbox is a monthly subscription box for cats filled with fun, unique toys and natural, grain-free, organic, or locally-made treats.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
The Subscription Box: Meowbox
They write your cats’ names on the lid. I love this little touch!
The Cost: $32.95 a month (save with longer subscription plans)
The Products: 5-7 toys and treats per month for your cat.
Here’s a look inside.
Good to know: Meowbox will substitute non-food items for cats with special dietary requirements. (There is a box to check during the signup process if you want to do this.) And for every Meowbox you buy, they give one can of food to a shelter cat!
Ships to: US (free shipping), Canada, and the UK (not sure of shipping costs for those last two)

The information card this month had a cute cartoon and a URL to find out more information about some of the products from the box. I think the kuddly card was just more information about the app, but I can’t check it out since I don’t have a smartphone or tablet.
Pillow Puff Tabbie Catnip Cat Toy by SPOT – Value $4.82
My cats weren’t hugely interested in this right away, but not every toy is going to be a hit. And sometimes they “discover” toys that I’ve had for five years. So this is up in the bedroom where they spend their days while I’m at work.
Loofa Kicker Cat Toy by Multipet – Value $13.51
I *thought* this was too big. But Sneaky looooved it. (See below.) It has crinkle paper inside so I’m sure she’s going to be playing with it in the middle of the night when I’m trying to sleep.
Wooly Fun Feather Barrel by One Pet Planet (large) – Value $10.95
Monkey, on the other hand, was most in love with this. I found it the next day with the feathers pulled out.
Maui Meowi Manini Kitty Kandy (Small) – Value $3.99
For some reason, little catnip “candies” like this are hugely popular with my cats. This was another hit. It already has some puncture marks from cat teeth in it…
CocoChia Baked Cat Treats by Wellness (3 oz) – Value $2.99
It might sound strange to give coconut oil to cats, but three of my four love it. (I don’t feed it to them deliberately, but they come in the bathroom and look for drippings after I deep condition my hair with it.) Anyway, these cat treats have coconut and chia seeds as well as some other superfoods. My cats liked these but didn’t love them.
And now for the reason you’re really reading this review:
Sneaky biting something!
Sneaky is really the star of this review. She had so much fun with the toys in the box.
I thought this toy was kind of big but Sneaky was rolling all over the floor with it.
Monkey liked this toy. Later I found it upstairs with the feathers gone…
Madison once again came out for treats. (You may notice Mr. Kitty, the orange tabby, is not in any of the photos. He was having a flare-up of the uveitis that is a result of having been on prednisolone for his IBD for three years. He was pretty light-sensitive and didn’t want to hang out downstairs with the rest of us. It’s about a week later as I write this and he is doing much better. )
Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $36 for the January 2016 Meowbox. In terms of value, that is the best month for Meowbox for awhile, and it is even over the cost of a one-month subscription (without any coupons or discounts). Granted, some of the values for the toys seem a little high, but that is what I could find them selling for online. The items this month had a mixed reception from my cats, but not everything is going to be a hit with every cat – that’s kind of a risk you take with subscription boxes. Overall, it was a decent month.
What did you think of the January 2016 Meowbox? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
