Meowbox is a monthly subscription box for cats filled with fun, unique toys and natural, grain-free, organic, or locally-made treats.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
The Subscription Box: Meowbox
They write your cats’ names on the lid. I love this little touch!
The Cost: $32.95 a month (save with longer subscription plans)
The Products: 5-7 toys and treats per month for your cat.
Monkey and Sneaky investigate the box. I think they spray these with catnip or something…
Good to know: Meowbox will substitute non-food items for cats with special dietary requirements. (There is a box to check during the signup process if you want to do this.) And for every Meowbox you buy, they give one can of food to a shelter cat!
Ships to: US (free shipping), Canada, and the UK (not sure of shipping costs for those last two)

The information card this month had a cute cartoon and a URL to find out more information about some of the products from the box.
I think the cartoon was modeled after this image, which has been used as an internet meme. I kind of think it’s cute, but I also have two cats currently taking prednisolone, and I dread scooping the litter boxes, there is so much pee in them. (Prednisolone causes increased water intake.)
As you can see, I had some “help” while I was photographing the contents of this box…
The Empurrium Shooting Star Catnip Toy (Meowbox exclusive!) – Value $6.50
Since this was an exclusive, I just used the value from some other Empurrium toys and linked to their main cat toy page. This was pretty popular with my cats; they especially liked the ribbons.
All for Paws Modern Cat Feather Snake – Value $6.85
Sneaky enjoyed playing with this quite a bit. It has a bell or something in it, so I had to take it away last night. I didn’t want to hear it while I was trying to sleep!
Ball by Cat-a-Lack – Value $0.77
Monkey is usually the cat who likes balls, but it was actually Sneaky who was into this. She batted it all over the dining room. Then I took it upstairs to keep Nyx from getting to it, and Sneaky played with it all over the bedroom. Until it rolled under a piece of furniture.
Vermont Home Grown Organic Catnip Eggplant - Value $6
I wasn’t sure if this was an eggplant or just a purple sack when I opened the box, but apparently it is an eggplant. At any rate, it is refillable and it was one of the most popular items from the box. It got licked a lot, by multiple cats.
Ack! Monkey! Let’s try that again…
Our Pets Spry Spritz Catnip Spray (2 fl oz) – Value $6.98
I sprayed this in an empty shoebox. Monkey started licking the shoebox and he stayed at it for a loooong time. So I guess this stuff is pretty powerful. I would totally buy this again.
Heritage Artisan Cat Treats Buffalo Liver Recipe by Feelgood Treat Company (1.76 oz) – Value $1.81
You can only get these in Canada, as far as I can tell, so I linked to a Canadian site and converted the currency to US dollars. These are free of wheat, corn, soy, preservatives, artificial colors, and more.
Last, but not least, gratuitous cat pictures!
Madison is not amused.
But he’s not above investigating long, dangly ribbons…
Monkey loved the eggplant toy. Like, really loved it. After this photo, he rolled all over it on the floor.
You get that toy, Sneaky!
Mr. Kitty likes ribbons, too!
And that eggplant must’ve had some seriously strong catnip in it…
Verdict: I calculated a value of almost $29 for the February Meowbox. That is a few dollars short of the cost of the box, but if you go for a longer subscription and/or have a coupon, you’re probably still coming out ahead. This month was a hit for us since my cats liked all the toys, the treats are new to us, and putting the catnip spray on things was great entertainment for me. I think cat subscriptions are better values for multi-cat households, though – there’s more of a chance someone will like each item.
What did you think of the February 2016 Meowbox? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
