LE TOTE #8 - BOX

Le Tote
3.7 overall rating
24 Ratings | 10 Reviews

Le Tote is a month-to-month clothing rental subscription. When you sign up, you browse their catalog of clothing and accessories and create your “closet,” from which they select items to send to you. You keep the clothing to wear as long as you like, and you can also send back your box for a new selection of items as frequently as you like. If you love something enough to want to purchase it, you can simply hold onto it when you send the rest of that box back. Also, if you purchase your whole tote, you get one month free!

FYI – the items in my Le Tote boxes are selected for me based off of my preferences and style profile, so your boxes may look completely different!

This was my first tote for January! (My 8th tote since signing up)

LE TOTE #8 - item 1

Camilla Pineapple Charm Pendant – retail $28 (Le Tote Price: $24)

What a cute necklace! Pineapples are super trendy right now, so I picked this to rent. I got a lot of compliments on it.

LE TOTE #8 - item 2

BCBGENERATION Perforated Zip Clutch – Retail: $78 (Le Tote Price: $52)

I actually really like this clutch for keeping my things together in my diaper bag. It’s the right size and easy to grab and go if I’m running someplace without the baby.

LE TOTE #8 - item 3

SAINT GRACE Fleece Shawl Collar Cardigan – Retail: $130 (Le Tote Price: $96)

I really love this sweater. I enjoyed wearing it a lot. It’s fleece inside so it’s warm and really cozy. The color is pretty, too.

LE TOTE #8 - item 4

JACK Bobby Striped L/S Tee – Retail: $58 (Le Tote Price: $29)

This shirt didn’t fit me well. It was short and weird. I think the drape detail is cute in the back, but I wouldn’t actually wear something like that.

LE TOTE #8 - item 5

SUMMER & SAGE Harper Striped Hoodie – Retail: $80 (Le Tote Price: $29)

This is a great top! It was really comfortable and I liked the stripes a lot.

Tote #9:

LE TOTE #9 - item 1

OCTAVIA & CO. Stella Pendant Necklace – retail: $30 (Le Tote Price: $22)

This is a really pretty necklace – I love the silver and rose-colored stone combination.

LE TOTE #9 - item 2

NOIR LUXE Mirrored Drop Pendant – Retail: $34 (Le Tote Price: $28)

I thought this necklace was really interesting and pretty cool, but not my personal style.

LE TOTE #9 - ITEM 3

FRENCH CONNECTION Crewneck Sweater – retail: $98 (Le Tote: $74)

This pullover was thick, soft, and really comfortable. It may not be the most flattering top ever, but the color is great and the super long sleeves make me feel like I’m walking around wrapped in a blanket.

LE TOTE #9 - ITEM 4

DKNYC Foil Glitz Tank – Retail: $70 (Le Tote Price: $56)

This top is one of my favorite subscription box finds of January. I feel like a bombshell in it! I don’t know where I’d wear it, though, as a work-at-home mom with a minimal actual social life. I’m really tempted to keep this!

LE TOTE #9 - item 5

NOIR Metallic Knit Fit and Flare Dress – Retail: $80 (Le Tote Price: $60)

This dress is okay. The material isn’t very comfortable, though. Here’s a better look at the design:

LE TOTE #9 - item 6

I do think the design is a really cool detail.

Verdict: This month I went through 2 totes, and found an amazing top. My very favorite part of this sub is that I can keep the items as long as I like and wear them before deciding if I want to buy them or send them back. Sometimes it takes feeling how a piece wears before realizing that it won’t actually work for you, or that it’s itchy, or something like that. I also feel like there is minimal pressure to buy items, since it is a rental service and not a styling service. I feel this aspect gives me permission to enjoy (and wear!) the clothes and not feel bad or awkward when I send everything back (even though I do often keep an item per tote anyway so far).

Evaluating the value is a little tricky because I think the value of renting clothes and accessories is pretty subjective and different for everyone. I can see this being a great service for someone who uses a “capsule wardrobe” or someone who doesn’t like to wear the same thing twice or has a lot of social events to go to, or even women in the process of losing weight!

The blue top and the black dress are keepers with your coloring.
Are all the clothes used? and do they smell?

Haley, you look SO happy in that gold top! I hope you can justify keeping it since it makes you smile and feel great!

Keep the gold top! It is fun to be sparkly for everyday instead of just special occasions.

I signed up for Le Tote because of your last review. I love the concept and found lots of items on the site to add to My Closet. However, each time I go to pick items for my next tote, there is hardly anything available that is seasonally appropriate! All of the cardigans and sweaters are forever checked out. There were maybe 5 pairs of pants last time. I have received a couple tops that I couldn’t even wear because they were so poorly shaped – huge around the waist, short, and boxy. I did end up buying a few pieces of clothing that I needed and/or really liked.

I finally got off the Rent The Runway waitlist, so I am going to give Le Tote another month and see which one I like better.

Hey! I agree with things not being seasonally available. I live in CA so it’s not an issue with me but I finally get off the waitlist for RTR Unlimited too but the shipping times are so slow! I think you could only get 2 maybe 3 boxes a month with them. I get 4 with Le Tote. The available items on Unlimited are limited too. So I would keep both for a month or two to decide which you like better. I canceled RTR because of the shipping time and I’m not going to as many events as I used to but they said I wouldn’t have to go back on the waitlist if I cancel and decide to rejoin later. Lastly (promise haha) RTR doesn’t have pants or leggings. I find that inconvenient for me because I don’t always wear skirts or dresses.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! The LT shipping is opposite for me since I’m in CT. I only got 3 totes this month, and my last one won’t make it back to them before my next billing cycle. I don’t keep them particularly long, but it’s almost a two-week turnaround. I placed my RTR order last Thursday and they just posted tracking info, but no delivery date yet. I’m going to try waiting until later in the day to select my next tote items, usually I do it first thing because I’m so excited to see what they have!

Kristin

It is now $59/month, but I still bit the bullet with the discount code last week. My first tote will ship out today and I’m excited.

I just completed my first month and overall I’m happy with the service. The few issues that I have is that they take a long time to send out totes so I was only able to get 2 this month. The sleeves on the sweaters are usually stretched out and are long on me. I’ll try it for one more month but and see if it’s worth keeping. It has make getting ready in the morning super easy.

KEEP the gold top. You’ll find a use for it eventually. It would be great with nice black crops or a skirt, too, if you have to go to a wedding. Also, the black dress looks great. You can always wear leggings or tights with it.
