Golden Tote Leap into Spring Tote Review – February 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

GOLDEN TOTE LEAP INTO SPRING 2016 - box

If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from). For the $149 tote, you pick 2 items, and get 3-4 more surprise items based on your style profile.

Every now and then Golden Tote will have “bonus totes” for different occasions that are released at a different time than their regular monthly collection. For example, this is their 2016 Leap Into Spring tote!

FYI – This is not a typical subscription, each month they release a new collection and you can decide whether or not you want to buy it.

Also, they package your totes in a different design every month!

GOLDEN TOTE LEAP INTO SPRING 2016 - items 1

The Pretty Woman Dress – value: $50

(100% polyester; hand wash cold, hang or line dry)

I loved the way this dress looked online, but it’s a little different in person. It’s surprisingly tent-y. Thank goodness there’s a drawstring waist, but there is SO much fabric that bunches up when you pull the drawstring, so the top feels really billowy. That’s not too much of a problem, really. The main thing I’m not a fan of is the length! It’s at the bottom of my knees, but WOW where it hits me makes me look so super short. I look like I have no legs. I might see if my mom can take it up for me some and see how I like it then. I also can’t decide if this size of polka dots is flattering or not!

Bright Side Swing Dress – value: $40

(95% polyester, 5% spandex; hand wash cold, hang or line dry)

Thanks to Puella, I’ve been excited about any and all swing dresses. However, this one is super short! I’d definitely need leggings/jeggings with it, or take the hem up a little bit and make it a tunic. However, I love the colors and pattern. They’re outside my comfort zone, but I think they’re pretty. I think this would look especially chic under a denim jacket. Also: it has pockets!

GOLDEN TOTE LEAP INTO SPRING 2016 - items 3

Chris & Carol Striped Pocket Dress – value: $40?

(80% cotton, 12% polyester, 8% rayon; hand wash, lay flat to dry)

This dress is really comfortable (it’s made out of a nice, almost sweater-like knit). The side panels end with pockets. I love stripes but I think this style/size/horizontal is actually pretty unflattering and I feel like it makes me look really wide.

GOLDEN TOTE LEAP INTO SPRING 2016 - items 4

Skies Are Blue Floral Dress – value: $35?

(100% polyester; hand wash cold, lay flat to dry)

This dress makes me long for summer. The floral pattern is a little bigger than I think looks ideal, but I like the colors a lot.

GOLDEN TOTE LEAP INTO SPRING 2016 - items 5

Dreamers Dolman Cardigan – value: $55?

(55% cotton, 45% rayon; hand wash cold, hang or line dry)

This cardigan is a style I never would have looked twice at on a rack, but I really like it! It’s so crazy soft and comfortable, and I like the shade of brown a lot.

GOLDEN TOTE LEAP INTO SPRING 2016 - items 6

Skies are Blue Lattice Cut Top – value: $40?

(100% polyester; hand wash cold, lay flat to dry, warm iron if needed)

This is quite a pretty top! I like the green a lot, and the lattice detail is cool. I need a bra with clear straps, though!

Verdict: I love when Golden Tote sends me dresses! I like most everything in this tote, but this is the first time I’ve felt like I’ve had so many fit issues – too long, too short, too billowy, etc. Most things like that can be altered for a solution though and make them work

What do you think about Golden Tote? Did you get any cool surprise items in yours?

  1. The striped dress looks REALLY good on you?.

  2. I don’t think the second dress is too short at all! Rock it!

  3. Hayley, you look great in these dresses!

  4. The dresses look amazing on you!

  5. That polka dot dress is soooo cute! I agree that it needs to be taken up some though. I have the same issue with dresses at that length. I really want to try Golden Tote when I see your reviews… All adorable! Love that swing dress so much.

  6. I love that polka dotted dress. It has a retro feel to it and the midi length is flattering imo

  7. I got that brown cardigan and I completely agree with your review. Nothing I would ever have picked myself — style or color — but it’s so soft and fun that I want to wear it every day.
