Candy Club recently added several different club options that help tailor boxes to suit different candy preferences. Subscribers can now choose between three clubs: “Sours & More,” “Classics,” and “Favorites.”
To help determine which club is right for you, subscriptions now begin with a fun online quiz! (Though, if you don’t like your quiz results, you can always pick a different club.)
Each Candy Club Box comes with a card detailing the month’s featured candies.
On the reverse, nutritional details are listed along with any relevant allergy information.
This was the first item I pulled out of my Candy Club box, and I immediately popped one into my mouth. The inside of these squares is a caramelized sugar “sponge” that’s similar to honeycomb toffee. It starts out crunchy and then immediately melts in your mouth. This is only the second month that I’ve received chocolate in a Candy Club box, and, so far, I’m VERY impressed with their selection of chocolate candy.
Sweet's Nummy Cubbies Fruit Snacks
I love gummy fruit snacks, so I was immediately intrigued by these brightly colored bears. They’re chewier than regular gummy bears, and I really like the assortment of flavors: cherry, lemon, orange, grape, and sour apple. I think the sour apple is my favorite!
Gerrit J. Verburg Sour Blockheads
I expected these sweet & sour candies to be similar to Sour Patch Kids, but the texture and flavor was noticeably different. While they had a great balance of sweet and sour, I picked up on an odd waxy flavor that put me off a bit. My husband liked them just fine, though, so it could just be me!
Primrose Peanut Butter Barrels
These old-fashioned peanut butter barrels are a fun addition to the box. Hard candies are probably my least favorite kind of candy (I definitely reach for gummies, sours, and chocolate first!), but I’m a fan of these. I like the creamy peanut butter flavor.
Long Grove Confectionery Milk Chocolate S’more
I can’t find this product for sale on the Long Grove Confectionery site, so I’ve just linked to the shop itself. S’mores are a favorite in my house, so I’m sure this one won’t be floating around for too much longer!
Verdict: This was a pretty solid box from Candy Club! I love that they recently re-vamped their subscription model, and I’ve enjoyed receiving chocolate treats in my last couple of boxes. In terms of value, Candy Club claims that each box will have a retail value of $60. You can certainly pay that much for candy at high-end candy stores (like Sugarfina and Dylan's Candy Bar), but I think it’s important to point out that nearly all of the candy in this month’s box is available for much less if you buy it in bulk online. Still, even though this subscription doesn’t offer superb value for money, I think it’s a lot of fun. Receiving a giant box of candy every month always puts a smile on my face!
