Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers.  You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately.  Nyx is definitely a power chewer!  You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 84 right now).

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box

The Cost:  $39 a month (save with 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions)

COUPON: Save $5 off your first box by joining their mailing list (it was a pop-up when I visited the site).

The Products:  Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes).  You can also choose a “toys only” box.  Because of Nyx’s dietary issues, I went with the “toys only” box.  You can also enter specific allergy information in a box on the checkout screen.

Ships to: USA (free!)

Check out lots of great boxes for dogs in the Pet Subscription Box Directory and make sure to add Bullymake Box to your subscription list or wishlist!

Note: This box did not come with an information card but it is pretty heavily customized so I would not expect a card.

Hartz Chew ‘n Clean Tuff Bone (large) – Value $7.82

This is bacon-scented and is supposed to improve oral hygiene.  I think I can get away with giving it to Nyx every now and then without the bacon flavor causing her any trouble.  (One thing I appreciate about this box, by the way, is that the toys are actually size-appropriate.)

Spunky Pup Fetch & Chew (large) – Value $13.50

I had never heard of Spunky Pup until this month, when I got toys from them in at least two separate dog boxes.  I’m becoming a fan of the brand!  Nyx did pull one end of this off and chewed on the blue bone beneath, but I’m going to be able to give this to her multiple times because she was not able to destroy it!

Spunky Pup Fetch & Glow (large) – Value $6

Nyx is easily amused.  Balls are always popular, and this is a good size for her.

Multipet Boingo Ball (medium/large) – Value $14.39

We haven’t had a lot of luck with Multipet plush toys for dogs (we’ve had good luck with them for cats), but we seem to do better with non-plush toys.  This is a hard plastic rattle ball with rubber around the outside.  Nyx will like this when I give it to her because she’ll think she can pull the rubber off.  We’ll see.

Mammoth Flossy Chews with Beef Toss Floss Chew – Value $19.74

The price seems a little high on this one but I only found this for sale on Amazon from third party sellers.  Nyx loves rope toys and the nice thing about this rope toy is, she’ll be so interested in the hoof, she doesn’t feel the need to chew on the end in my hand…

And of course a few shots of Nyx enjoying one of the toys from the box:

Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $61 for the February 2016 Bullymake Box.   That is a great value for a dog subscription box, even if the value of the last item is inflated a bit!  Also, I feel like they actually pay attention to my dog’s size.  You choose in 10-pound increments from a drop down menu.  I picked 80 pounds since that was the closest to Nyx’s size, and I actually feel like I received toys appropriate for an 80 pound dog.  Additionally, while Nyx has destroyed some Bullymake toys in the past, I feel that on average, they last her longer than toys from a lot of other boxes.  Plus, we didn’t get any repeats from last month.  So I’m happy with this box!

Call your credit card and dispute the charge, show them what you paid and that you only received one box. You’ll get your money back. Shame on them!

I am slightly disappointed with the bully make gift box. We went all in, and did the 12 month subscription. The first month, the toys were great! We did however pick the grain free option for our French Bulldogs due to allergies. We still received treats that were artificially flavored and had several wheat ingredients. 🙁 The second box was marked as shipped, on 4/27/16. We have yet to see any tracking information as fedex says the tracking number is not valid. I am not a fan of the no live customer support. All you get is a recording telling you to send an email. Well, after a fb message or 2 and the email I have still heard absolutely nothing 🙁 I feel kind of frustrated to say the least. But hey, the neighbor dog got some treats with wheat and artificial flavoring.

Try checking the USPS website. My last box came by Priority Mail, not Smartpost, so FedEx might not have recognized a tracking number like that (I think they need to change their template, all their shipping emails to me say something about my February Bullymake box, even though I got them in other months — so maybe they need to change other things, too — they did send me a box in the past by Smartpost which is a FedEx hybrid service, so FedEx might’ve been the right company to mention at some time in the past).

When I emailed them recently about a duplicate box issue, I heard back within one day. Also if the toys are good but the treats aren’t working for you, maybe consider the “no treats” option for the remainder of your subscription.

Very disappointed! Only received two toys in our first box. One toy – 25 minutes later – is destroyed. The other three items are treats. Two of the treats are not the type of treats I would normally buy for my dog (artificially flavored). I don’t believe this box is worth $39. I will be canceling any future box.

Thank you for this review ! I have 4 very destructive doggies but I want them to have toys to play with. We do have a Mammoth rope (large) and it has lasted along time so I’m excited to see one in the box. I think it’s a little pricey for me but it will be a great splurge once in a while.

Hi Ragan,

I looked at this review because I was thinking of buying my younger sister’s puppy a pet box. He’s a chewer and enjoys toys, but he has yet to chew his toys to pieces. Your dog is adorable! She looks like she’s part Rottweiler. My family’s last dog was from a sanctuary. He was part Rotty, German Sheperd, Kheeshond, and German Short Haired Pointer among other breeds. He was a great dog… happy, social, and gentle.

She’s an AKC-registered (100%) Rottweiler. She’s just lost a lot of muscle mass because of a medication she’s on, so she looks a little different. (Also she’s from a German bloodline and there are some differences between German and American Rotties.)

I completely get this as we have a english bull terrier mix with shark teeth. The only thing that lasts more than 10 minutes with her are elk antler bones.

This is one I’ll have to keep an eye on for my guy, he is definitely one to de-stuff and destroy most of his toys and my vacuum can barely keep up! 🙂 I’m not sure I could justify the cost on an ongoing basis, but it might be a good one to pick up for a couple months at a time once in a while.

Out of curiosity, did you name Nyx after the cosmetic company?

Ragan

Nope, it was just a funny coincidence. Actually if you Google “Nyx” and “Rottweiler” a whole bunch of other dogs turn up…so I guess I wasn’t even original.

Nyx is a greek goddess. Of night actually. Nox is an alternate for Nyx.

I’ve always loved your reviews because I have a basset hound who makes short work of most of her toys like Nyx. It seems to be her mission to find the weakness of the toy and then chew to destruction.

I’m going to check out this power chewer box. $39.99/month is not bad. I pay an average of $12 for any single toy that I buy for Daisy.

I want to come over and rub Nyx’s belly.

She would lick you to death and sit on your feet!
