STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - BOX

Stitch Fix
3.5 overall rating
257 Ratings | 58 Reviews

Stitch Fix is a monthly styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey about your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences, and then your personal stylist sends you 5 items to try once a month. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

FYI – My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - info 1

Each box comes with cards with styling suggestions for every piece, plus a letter from your stylist.

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - info 2

And this is my invoice sheet. It lists the prices per item and the discount I’d receive by keeping all 5 items. With the 25% discount and my $20 styling fee factored in, this box would cost me a total of $182.50 to keep everything – approximately $36.5 an item. I’m really happy to see lower price points for Stitch Fix with this box!

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 1

41Hawthorne McQue Solid Lace Sleeve Blouse – Cost to Keep: $48

I like this top, especially the color. But it was just a bit too tight in the bust and a tad short on me.

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 2

Papermoon Amedeo Tulip Sleeve Knit Top – Cost to Keep: $48

This top was too tight, and I’m not a huge fan of the cap sleeves. Those two factors don’t play well together, and they made the arm holes stretch too big as well. This one’s going back.

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 3

Market & Spruce Mainy Pullover Sweater – Cost to keep: $68

I love a good sweater (and polka dots), and this sweater is not bad! I like it, but I have so many sweaters that I feel are more flattering/better colors on me than this one, so I won’t be keeping this.

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 4

41Hawthorn Lizzy Colorblock Striped Sweater – Cost to Keep: $68

This is a great sweater! I really like the colors, stripes, and fit. The sleeves and torso are nice and long on me, and it’s quite comfortable. A keeper!

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 5

Octavia Madera Fold-Over Clutch – Cost to Keep: $38

This pewter-colored, fold-over clutch is nice, but just not my style. It does have a shoulder strap, too, by the way. More detail photos below.

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 6

For a fold-over clutch, I really like all the pockets it has. It has four pockets (2 zippered).

STITCH FIX JAN 2016 - item 7

The pockets are all lined in a really pretty print, too. It’s a nice bag, all in all!

Verdict: All in all, this fix was okay. I would have really liked if the fit was a little better for me, but I’m happy to have an awesome new sweater! And I know I can give my stylist feedback about sizing up for tighter-fitting items.

I just got my first box and I’m not impressed. Like yours, everything I got was just something to wear with black pants or jeans. That’s not styling. I can do that myself easily. And what they sent was really cheap stuff– very polyestery, shiny kind of tops that are supposed to look like silk but really really don’t. Hard pass on this.

Correct me if I’m wrong but with this subscription, you don’t get to actually wear the clothes? I’m looking for more of a clothing rental subscription and I’m guessing this is not it? This is just for someone to find clothes I might like? That is not something I have a problem doing. Please let me know if anyone can help. Thank you!

Try rent runway. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard of it.

You are correct. Stitch fix is more of a styling service, where they send you new clothes to try on in the privacy of your home, and you send back the ones you don’t want. Le Tote is a rental service where they send you clothes that you can wear and then return (and they handle the cleaning). I use both services – that way I can try things more out of my comfort zone with Le Tote and it helps me figure out what to request from my Stitch Fix stylist.

The polka dot sweater is right up my alley but there’s no way I’m paying $70 for a sweater. *runs back into the deep web to hunt down sweater at cheaper price*

My fix was also really bad this month. I was really bummed because every other one has been a big hit. Mine had some weird jacket that looked totally unfinished and was way too small for some reason, two sweaters that were nowhere near my style preference, a silver necklace with a bunch of dangly things that I kinda liked (not for the $60 price!!!), and a pair of black pants that looked like Dickies but were actually kut from the kloth. I was so excited to see the kut from the kloth label but they looked terrible!!! Boo! I was really bummed about this box and it just seemed like there wasn’t much thought about it. I asked for mine to be delivered on the 31st, it’s my anniversary and I had requested something really cute and kinda fancy to wear and that’s what I received. Not one of the items sent would ever be qualified as dress anything. They were all real casual, comfortable clothes or even things for work. This was the first time I ever thought about cancelling Stitch Fix. I was so furious I set my next box back to mid February!

I had the same problem with my January fix. Whole box went back. This was only my third fix and while I’ve kept one necklace and one sweater, everything else has gone back. I keep asking for petite size tops and everything is too long. I’ve now asked for no more grey my last box was so dull! I’m beginning to wonder if Stitch Fix employees are pictured on their blog – where are all those cute clothes? Send them to me!
