Purr Packs is a monthly subscription box for cats.  You can choose from several different subscription tiers, with customization offered for higher tiers (for example, you can exclude certain protein sources in treats).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Purr Packs

They put my cats’ names on the box.  Love it!

The Cost:  $24.99 for the Teaser Pack (contains 5-7 items), $29.99 for the Fun & Love Pack (contains 7-9 items), and $39.99 for the Multi-Cat Mega-Pack (contains 9+ items).  This is a review of the Multi-Cat Mega-Pack!

The Products:  Toys, made-in-the-USA treats, and other cat goodies, including many exclusive items.

Here’s a look inside!

To give you some idea of the size of this box, here is the empty box with a 12 pound cat in it…

Included was an information card detailing some of the items for the month.

purrpacks-january-2016-magnet

Meow Car Magnet – Value $3.99

I’m sure people think it is strange to see cat magnets on the back of a car where I regularly transport a full-grown Rottweiler.  But whatever.

Yeowww! Brand Pollock Fish – Value $7.09

Monkey claimed this one.  He really seems to like stuffed catnip toys made of canvas.  He licks them.  And licks them.  And licks them.  Until they are wet with cat saliva.  And that is hard to do.

Here is the magnet on my car, next to the “Cat Lady” magnet I got from Cat Lady Box a few months ago.

purrpacks-january-2016-ninja

Cosmic Catnip Ninja Ball Toy – Value $5.99

This has a rattle inside.  The cats liked it a lot.  It seems a little overpriced but the only place I could find it for sale in the US was eBay.

purrpacks-january-2016-sneakyninja

Sneaky investigating the ninja ball.  Sadly, I couldn’t get her to bite anything during this photo session.

purrpacks-january-2016-treatstake1

Monkey really wanted to “help” while I was photographing the items from this box.  Let’s try that again.

purrpacks-january-2016-treats

Sassycat Freeze Dried Salmon (0.88 oz) – Value $4.59

Like a lot of freeze-dried treats, this was kind of crumbly.  I’m going to toss the crumbs on top of Monkey’s food.  He’s been a little reluctant to eat lately (not sure why) but has shown a real appetite for fish in the past week or two.

Buddy Biscuits Savory Turkey and Cheddar Treats (3 oz) – Value $3.16

These were very popular.  Madison wouldn’t share.

purrpacks-january-2016-toys1

Flea Catnip Toy from Multipet – Value $5.95

Catnip toys are always a hit.  All four of my cats go wild over them.  So this was another win.

CanCor Original Crinkle Ball – Value $1.99

I got one of these in December’s Cat Lady Box, too.  As I suspected, the day Mr. Kitty got his appetite stimulant, he really wanted to chew on this…

purrpacks-january-2016-mrkitty

Whoever said cats were dignified hasn’t seen this photo of Mr. Kitty…

purrpacks-january-2016-toys2take1

Ack!  Monkey was “helping” again.  One more try…

purrpacks-january-2016-toys2

PetStages Go Buggy – Value $5.99

Although Monkey liked the big fish, I think this was his favorite thing in the box.  He also liked a PetStages toy from last month’s MeowBox.  I guess they have good catnip!

Cocktail Weiner Dog Catnip Toy – Value $1.30

Although I had put all these toys away on top of a bookshelf, I found this one on the living room floor this morning.  Another win for Monkey (he is the only one who gets on top of the shelves).

purrpacks-january-2016-scratcherfront

purrpacks-january-2016-scratcherback

Cardboard Scratching Pad – Value $10 (?)

This was an exclusive item so I linked to something similar.  I always keep a couple of these around and the ones I had were looking ratty so this replacement comes at exactly the right time.

As if this review didn’t already include a whole lot of gratuitous cat photos already, here are a few more:

purrpacks-january-2016-madisontable

Madison with the flea toy.  He always hides between this table and the sofa.  Let’s see if we can get him to come out.

purrpacks-january-2016-madisontreats

Madison chowing down on the Buddy Biscuits.  Sneaky didn’t get very many of them.

purrpacks-january-2016-monkeybox

After I took pictures, I put this one aside to take pictures of another box.  Monkey would not leave this one alone.  So I put it on top of a bookshelf.

purrpacks-january-2016-monkeyshelf

Lot of good that did…

purrpacks-january-2016-sneakyderp

And one more picture of Sneaky, because I like the derpy look on her face.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $50 for the January 2016 Purr Packs box.  That is a really good value for a cat box and my cats enjoyed the items in here (as well as the box itself and all the white crinkly paper) more than I think any other cat subscription box we’ve received.  This would be too much stuff if you only have one cat (in which case I would recommend one of the smaller packages) but it was a great variety for my four.  They played a lot, even though they range in age from 7 and a half (Sneaky) to 11 and a half (Mr. Kitty).

I think for my sister’s birthday I might get my kitty nephew Diggy a 3 month sub to this!! ?I think he would really love the treats and toys and you just can’t overspoil a furry baby too much!!! ??…. Ragan I live for your review!!! Seriously, your pets should have their own blog!!! The Adventures of Sneaky and Com.!! Or something!! Lol

My cats get this monthly, and it’s always a blast when they “unbox” it. After I take the scratcher out of the bottom, I put the tray with the catnip laced shred back in the box, and it becomes the most coveted cat bed for the next month. I’m glad to see the review here, as I think it’s the best cat box out there. Plus, they have excellent customer service!

This box looks great! Sadly, my cats are so spoiled that I took all of their toys out of the various hiding places around the house and it FILLED up a rather large cardboard box. I’m not sure they need any more toys or treats. I’ll bookmark this one though, as I’m a sucker for my cats and I know they would love this. Maybe in a month or two…. LOL

One quick note for anyone that has cats AND gets the pop sugar box – my cats took over the popup bin the minute I took it out of the pop sugar box. They’ve been jumping into it, hiding and then jumping out of it to scare and play with one another. I was hoping to use it for something more useful (storage) around my house, but the cats got dibs on it. 😀
